I'm wondering how you feel, 6 years on. Has it lasted well? Has rust appeared? If so, how soon after?
G’day Rob, Our BBQ is undercover and well protected from the elements. We’ve used it at least 3 times a week since we got it. The external stainless steel has held up extremely well, no rust, etc. The internal stainless grills and frame have also held up extremely well (no rust). The internal cast iron burners and associated gas pipes have all began to rust out, but still usable. This has also occurred with other brand BBQ’s we’ve had in the past. I rate the BBQ.
That's really good feedback! Thank you so much.
All my led lights are not working on my bbq & fridge is there a fuse or something Cheers
Sorry I can’t help you regarding your LED lights issue. However, in the past I’ve contacted Gasmate Australia technical support via phone and they were super helpful. Cheers.
Ok thank you
has anyone ever had to replace the ignitor? Is there an easy way to access without disassembling the entire main body?
You change the battery?
Blue led lights won't turn on and the back lights won't turn on how do I fix this
Plug it in… might be fuse otherwise
Hi,
I was just wondering if it’s possible to convert out natural gas gas ste bbq to lpg?
Conversion is work for a plumber… if not and issues arouse, your home insurance would not cover as it’s a gas applicable that requires proper installation
how do i convert the burners for natural gas
Hi Steve, sorry mate I run ours on LPG bottles. A friend had another brand BBQ and converted from LPG to natural gas by replacing the jets which he purchased from the manufacturer. Maybe the same can be done for a Gasemate??

I am considering the gasmate PII Built in as it fits my width requirements exactly, but is a little too long. Is yours running on NG or LPG? I cook a lot of porterhouse, lamb cutlets, eye fillet, chicken breast, etc. Lamb is difficult due to the very high fat content. Chicken breast needs a gentle heat as does Eye Fillet. Steaks need to be seared, then more slowly cooked until pink. DOes the Gamsate have enough heat and control to do all of this easily? My SMART-601 was terrible. My 13 year old LPG cast iron burner with porcelain enamel grill plates does a Fantastic job. (Euro Grand, Cheepie).
We continue to be very happy with the Gasmate (LPG). I only cook using the grill (no hot plate). All mentioned food cooks great. Lamb causes flar ups if I cook on any temp except low. To cook lamb on the gasmate; I heat the grill on high, then sear the meat and turn the flame down to low to finish them.
Can I ask how much you paid for the BBQ please?
We paid just over $3000.00, but is was a while ago.
Hi,
I've had a few BBQ's over the years and found most have an uneven heat from front to back on the plate. how does your fare in that regard?
I find the Gasmate is hotter ar the rear of the plate, but by comparison, more even than our former Weber gas BBQ.
Great, thanks very much.
Hi, since you posted your helpful opinion I'm wondering if there are any comments you'd like to add now, more than a year later? We were thinking of purchasing this bbq but I've read quite a few comments about poor customer service and the propensity to rust quite quickly. What has your experience been, please?
We are still very happy with the BBQ. There are no signs of rust, although our BBQ is under a roof and only gets slight 'spray' during heavy rain. I am also a little OCD and give it a quick clean/protection once every couple of months with 3M s'steel cleaner. One of the blue lED lights failed in the warranty period; nil issues with customer service, they sent out the replacement part and a second spare one. It took me only a few minutes to easily replace it. Twelve months on I would buy another Gasmate Platinum.
Thank you for the response, Jim. Hope you have many more good years with it.
