George Foreman Lean Mean Roasting Machine GV6B Questions & Answers
VerifiedDigital time display on roasting machine is not working. Can I get it repaired or replaced?
This appears to be a standard problem on these units. I have had two units and both had the same problem. This George Foreman roaster (albeit an excellent roaster) is no longer available and from my experience of extensive efforts it cannot be repaired. Having said that, you may find an electronics guy who may attempt to fix it.
Thank you very much.
can I purchase the removable black dish of the George Forman Roasting machine please?
I purchased my first George Foreman roaster about 10 to 12 years ago and it failed, so bought a second one. This is still working but the removeable dish to which you refer needs replacing, after extensive enquiries to get repairs and replacement for this model. I find it is no longer made and spare parts or repairs no longer available. If by chance you do locate a repairer or someone with spare parts please let me know. Cheers H.
hi there i have a brand new machine still with all the stickers on it, i have never even turned it on, i have no idea where the instructions are for it or the box, if you are interested in please let me know, i am in qld australia
You can easily download the manual from the Internet.
when cooking a lamb roast must i use the rack or can i just put the meat in the bottom?
It's best to use the tray as it collects all of the juices, if you turn it over after an hour or so. it works best and cooks all the way through your roast. Once cooked, you can then remove the roast and add a small amount of water and gravy mix, and you have a nice gravy too. Cheers Harry.
george foreman baking pan insert: I purchase this Lean Mean Roasting Machine approx 5 years ago but only used it a few times. I came to use it last week and noticed the insert pan was blistered in a few places. I Washed it and the coating starting to lift off. I have been trying to find a replacement without any luck. Surly I can get a replacement for this machine. How would I use this to cook without the tray?
Hi, You do need the tray. I have had two of these machines in the past 10 years, but they are no longer made and parts are no longer available either. I would suggest getting your tray sandblasted and then try and find a company that does non stick coatings. It's a great machine, so goodness knows why they stopped making them.
Just use baking paper..... You only need the pan for food with liquid. Use a small rack on the base for meat that needs a long cooking time.
Thank you both for your response. I was cleaning out my archive and came across this. So sorry! One thing, I had forgot I had this lean machine. It's in the loft. Will go and retrieve and now make good use.
Where can a new timer be purchased from?
Hi Kevin, Our timer failed after about 12 months and since then we have been unable to find a repairer. After exhaustive enquiries I was told the manufacturer was no longer in business so no spare parts were available. It has been discontinued now for a couple of years, but it still works well. We just use the microwave oven timer as a reference and press the increase button on the George Foreman with plenty of presses to keep it cooking. Such a shame as it's a great little cooker.
Thanks Harry, yes it is a shame. It's a great little roaster so I will have to do the same. Thanks again Kevin.
It doesn't stop cooking until you actually switch it off....... Timer is just a timer. Nothing more.
where on the sunshine coast can I purchase one?
To the best of knowledge despite this being an excellent cooker it has now been discontinued.
Can anyone find me an instruction book or manual for the GV6 roaster. EG Timing
Maybe try Googling it??

How to use? Is there a manual I can look up. Do I take tray out n lay pork on lower grill part?
No, you leave the tray in for cooking everything, simply set the timer for 90 mins to 2 hours for most cuts of meat. It is a brilliant little cooker and will cook your meat to perfection. Turn it over after about half way through the cooking time. Cheers
The tray insert is only to keep liquids from draining out, such as in a stew etc. Definitely not required for roasting etc. The whole idea of the drain hole is to get rid of fat...
where to buy roasting machine by george foreman?
Hi, From what I understand, it is no longer manufactured. Such a shame as it's a brilliant little cooking device. I wanted to buy another one as the electronic LED timer has failed, but couldn't find one for sale anywhere. Maybe try eBay?
Thanks for your time. Have found one o line, waiting to go look at.
Thanks again Rails
Can I cook frozen fish in it?
Yes, no problem. You can cook almost anything in it.
Where can I buy the roaster in Brisbane?
I have been advised this roaster is now discontinued. It's a great shame as it is brilliant and works a treat. Just cooked a good sized roast last night over about 2.5 hours and it is was an excellent meal. Suggest you track down George Foreman wherever he is and ask him why it was discontinued. It's probably made in China, so maybe it's available somewhere else under a different brand name??
This roaster IS discontinued. I searched high and low, checked a lot of stores web sites without any luck.
It will be a fluke if you find one.
Pity. It is a very handy machine.
Thanks, I couldn't find one anywhere, boohoo.
I bought two of these love them but the timer has gone on both of them can I have these replaced?
Apparently these timers cannot be repaired or repaired and the machine is now discontinued.
I have replacement led modules for these machines. Rachel, Gothic Electronics..
where can i buy a roasting machine pls?
Sorry Dora I do not believe they are available any longer, I wanted one for my daughter and drew a blank everywhere....
they are really good--i have 2 but the tray inserts are no good--pitted
Picked up one today at Target in Brisbane. They are on clearance sale for $39. If you call head office they can tell you which stores have stock. Head Office number is 1300 753 567, and the item number is 56756562 :)
Purchased our roaster from Target but now cannot see numbers on timer can it be fixed?
I have the same problem with mine, I do not think anyone has the spare parts to fix it. I do not believe they are being made anymore and it seems impossible to get spare parts.
Where can we purchase this
Which company make these lean mean roasting machines?
I believe they were made by Rusell Hobbs, as far as I am aware they are no longer being manufactured.
Hi I have a George foreman roaster and my friends and my brother are wanting one. Is there anywhere where we can buy more of these. I also have a retail store wanting to know if they can stock the roaster. Is there a reason it has been discontinued
I guess you would need to contact the manufacturer:

The machine has probably been discontinued because the digital display stops working and can't be replaced or fixed.
Also the heat turns on and off at will sometimes.
our GFR worked well for 8 months and today we tried to cook a chicken and the timer went on but no heat - hence no roast chicken!!! has any one had the same problem?
It sounds like you need to make a claim under the guarentee, if it stopped working not much more you can do really....
Not Yet ! But I used my GV6B for the 1st time last night with a small 1Kg deboned leg of lamb with some potatoes, sweet potatoes, onion garlic, & whole capsaicin. After 30 mins the timer fogged up inside behind the glass. I dont think thats good ! and maybe end up with your problem
Why have you stopped making these wonderful cookers? Why have you not given practical demonstrations in the stores which sell them?
Hi Frances, I'm only a satisfied user of these roasters like you. If only they made them large enough for a family instead of only a couple, and if it had a more robust interior coating, I'd also be buying them for friends and relatives.
Only sea reviews for chicken. How does it go with roast pork and more importantly, the crackle how does it turn out?
When using the GFR you must remember the lid is closed so therefore you won't get the crackling you would normally get in the oven. But in saying that, you could always take the crackling off and put it in the oven which is what I do. The meat comes out very moist like the chicken. If you are not sure if the meat is cooked, I use a thermometer to get it cooked at 71c (medium) which is perfect.
Hope this helps.
I find it does the BEST crackling, better than the oven. Just keep the crackling side down and away you go. Fully agree with using a meat thermometer, no matter what appliance you are using for your meat. This ensures the optimum temperature for health, taste, and eliminates the need to constantly check as other GFR users have reported.
