How much oil Does the JS38 take. Can you over fill and does that harm the motor
Oil leak when tipping over to clean out debris underneath. I have done this procedure many times with no issue. Now there is an issue. There is no oil left as per the dip stick.
I am trying to get the little transmission box (which is under the front of mower deck) that attaches to the cable. I also need the cable. Someone ripped them out. If so how much and where do I get them from. I am in SE Qld not far from Toowoomba.

General engine parts from any lawnmower shop, but if it a JD specialised part only from a JD dealer (if they only sell tractors they still can supply parts for your lawnmower) or sometimes parts pop up on Amazon Australia or eBay.
Many can be sourced as some are Briggs and Stratton. The rest at any JD supplier
Love the mower but... how in the world do I pull it back while mowing under bushes? Ya know, push it under bush then pull it back, wheels lock up.
If this started to happen, when you release the clutch when pulled back and the wheels remain locked you may have an issue with you gearbox or cable is binding. If the handle moves freely back and forth them probably the cable is ok. I would suspect the gearbox, may need to be pulled apart. Mine did the same a little while ago and I pulled it all apart and re-greased it and now all ok again.
My js26 gets. Stuck in drive mode. The cable is free when I shut it off it stays in gauged how can I fix the problem sometimes it disengages on its own. ?????
Seriously does no know how much oil it holds....?
