Why has the Jumbuck Orion BBQ been discontinued? I have just bought one brand new from a friend have not used it yet?

Hi Dora, you would have to ask Bunnings why they are discontinuing. All I can say is that I am very happy with mine. I have, however purchased the special gas lead and I am now using from a regular LPG gas bottle. It is much cheaper than using the small disposable cylinders and I think probably safer as well. The BBQ itself works great! Have cooked everything from steak to cakes in it. Just need to be careful on the lower setting as the heat gradually creeps up. I have solved this by inserting a metal spoon under the closed lid to let in more air.

Where do you get a hose with the right attachment and how much? Want to screw it to the normal exchange gas bottle and is that the right gas?

The gasmate gm110 will connect a standard LPG bottle to the BBQ gas fitting. I ordered mine online but Bunnings also sells them for about $20, see link. The gas is the same. Typical LPG is almost entirely propane, which the BBQ is intended for since it takes 1lb propane bottles.

Does anyone know if you can buy a hot plate which fits this bbq?

The ziegler and brown portable bbq from bbqs galore hsd almost exactly the same measurements as the orion. Bbqs galore sell hot plates for that ziegler and brown portable, which I think another reviewer has said fits the orion. I havent got around to buying one yet but im pretty confident it will fit.
