I have had my coffee machine for two years and all a sudden the coffee taste so yuck, it taste like metal or sometimes like chemicals. So descaled the matching but still taste the same. Is this normal we loved it at first for the pass two years is it just time for a new machine? We used it flat out everyday. Loved this machine and would buy another just want to know if this is normal and just time for a new machine? Thank you. Tash

Hi Tasha, funny you say that as mine did get a bit of a taste too actually and like you I did really USE it. I would make at lease 4-5 cups every single day. I thought maybe the taste was because I let the water run through the pod a bit long as I used bigger cups but also when I bought it some of the reason was so I could use plain hot water through it for my husbands tea (Therefore needing only the coffee machine on bench instead of kettle as well). He said it had a funny taste too. Not coffee just kind of metal.

Rash try running hot water with plenty sugar in it through the machine a few times then retry with coffee.Good luck

Hello Erin, I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one. It's a shame I've been trying to work this problem out for ages because I love the taste usually. I'll defiantly be trying Les's suggestion of the water and sugar. I'll do that in the morning and be sure to post back how that went. :)

Hi Tasha, this is a courtesy message to see if you still require assistance with your coffee machine. We would only recommend using Clean Bean Descaler or Clean Bean Tablets in your machine. These products are available in both Coles and Woolworths nationally. Scale build up can cause the machine to decrease it's brewing temperature, run slowly and also taint the flavour of the capsules. The Descale Process can be found in your manual. Running descaler through your machine manually is ineffective. Hi, I have had my Map Bella for a few years plus I brought one for the work lunch room, we have descaled both machines but I seem to be getting a lot of black bits in my coffee, do you have a fix for this.

I just went and brought the Luna from Good guys and they did not supply the milk frother even though it is advertised on the web sale. They are going to phone back on Monday and let me know if it comes with a frother.

I only use MAP, Gloria Jean & Organic pods. I found other brands left black granules in the coffee. When this happened, I flushed the machine after each use, which became annoying so I stopped using the other pods. I have the milk frother from Aldi, its brilliant.

Hi Cheryl, thank you for your feedback here and we are pleased to hear you have been enjoying your Map machines both at home and at work. You are correct, you may find small black granules when non Map capsules are used and we recommend regular flushing. We would suggest using Map Caffitaly capsules and performing the water flush (without a capsule) each morning. Remember that the small and medium cup buttons are specifically designed for espresso capsules and the large cup button runs water at a slower rate which is ideal for chocolate and tea capsules. Hi. We have enjoyed our Bella capsule machine for close to 2 years now. However, we have had a problem with decaf capsules from Woolworths Select. The lever lowers OK, penetrating the capsule. When the button is pressed, no water comes through, and the RHS red light flashes. Trying to raise the lever to eject the failed capsule is extremely difficult (like jammed). It may be just this bad batch of decaf capsules, as generally the machine continues to work OK with other standard coffee capsules. Note that we have had one or two of these other capsules also do the same thing recently. Has anyone else experienced this situation, or do we put the problem down to a dodgy batch of capsules? As a result, we just do not trust decaf capsules any more. Mike

Hi Mike, I don't use Woolworth Select Capsules, only Map or Gloria Jeans. Every now and then I have had a capsule jam. You will need to put a bit of pressure on the lever to open. I have never damaged the machine doing this. Other than this, I haven't had any trouble with the water/capsule. Cheers J

Hi Newbies, many thanks for your question here. Map Coffee would recommend using Map branded Caffitaly capsules in all Map Capsule machines. We also suggest flushing the machine with water before you insert the capsule. Just remember that the small and medium cup buttons are designed for coffee capsules and the large cup button is specifically designed for hot chocolate and tea capsules. The large cup button runs water at 50% less water pressure which is perfect for a slower extraction of flavour. If you have switch to Map branded capsules and continue to face issues with raising the lever, please call Map Coffee customer service on 1800 239 438.

How can I increase the temperature of the water. Been advised by the seller that the water is not hot enough is a map Bella?

Thank you for your query and we can certainly assist you with steps to increase the temperature of your Map Bella Machine. Firstly turn the machine off (at the side but on at the power point) and raise the silver lever. Press the top and bottom button at the same time as switching the machine on. Release your fingers and press the middle button 3 or 4 times until you see the red light (left) and large cup illuminated. Lower the lever, turn the machine off and then turn the machine on. Can you please tell me the best way to make a good hot chocolate as I have just brought the machine and can not get the water levels correct.

Hi Sandran, Many thanks for your query. We would suggest programming one button to 30mls and pressing this button 2-3 times when making the Belgium Hot Chocolate. Allowing a pause (3+ seconds) between pressing the button will ensure the chocolate powder dissolves effectively. Sprinkling chocolate powder on top will give a stronger chocolate flavour as the capsules are a mild chocolate blend. Sorry never thought much of the hot chocolate.i use normal caburys hot choc and just use the milk frother to foam and heat the milk

I have a MAP Bella pod machine, it is 16 months old (past 12 month warranty date) It is giving out less and less water/coffee each time I use it. I have de-scaled it twice. Still no joy.

It is most important that you do not hold in any button while dispensing coffee. If you do when released this will be the volume dispensed next time. To reset machine to original settings is quite simple.

1-Turn the machine off and raise the lever to open the capsule compartment.

2-Press and hold down the Espresso (small cup) button while simultaneously switching the machine on.

3-Continue to hold the Espresso (small cup) button and quickly close and open the lever. The machine will beep 5 times.

4-Release the Espresso (small cup) button. After a few seconds the 3 beverage buttons and alarm light will blink.

5-Close the lever.

6-Place a cup on the drip trap. Press the Long Coffee (medium cup) button once. Wait approximately 2 minutes. The cycle is complete when the 3 beverage buttons are steadily lit. Repeat this if alarm light continues to blink.

I have the green capsules and drink it black - but it tastes burnt. I have noticed the seal on capsules are blown up (like a full packet of chips does left in the sun), however these have just been purchased and I keep them in a dark cool pantry. Tried the red capsule and a decaf today and the taste was much smoother and didn't have a burnt taste. Could you please advise?

I know nothing about any default settings. If I want an espresso, I just put in an espresso pod and press the button for a small coffee, ie, the lower of the three buttons.

Thank you for your question. I suggest using a measuring cup and programing the machine to ensure the levels are correct. A general guideline is: 27ml-30mls for the top button (great for espresso shots, macchiato, standard cappuccino, standard latte). 35ml-50ml for the middle button (perfect for a strong ¾ latte, strong cap & latte).

50ml-60ml MAX for the bottom button (greater than 60mls will over-extract the 8grams of coffee in each capsule and may result in granules in the cup, inferior coffee flavour and bitter taste). For a longer coffee (usually long blacks) insert a venenzia (strong) capsule, press the bottom button (programed to pour 60mls), raise the handle, allow the capsule to drop through, lower the handle and then press the bottom button again to allow 60ml of fresh water to run through. This provides optimal extraction and therefore flavour.

Hi, until recently the answer was no but now Woolworths have Select brands and Gloria Jeans brands that fit the Map machine..... they have a caramel pod that is very Yummy :)

These capsules are available in Harvey Norman, The Good Guys and Target. Other branded capsules are not compatible.
