I have a Morrison 2400 Quite Shredder. I want to remove the cover to gain access to clean debre from around the drum blade. To remove the plate what are the 2 screw bolts called & size and where could I purchase.

I have the same problem with the screws John. A real problem. Can't fix an electrical contact problem as a result. Can you let me know if you find out. I've had no reply from Morrison

To remove the cover plate I took the machine to Repco and they were able to sell my the 2 screw tools that fitted the bolts. Came hm removed the plate cleaned out inside the machine. Reassembled machine working fine. Good luck. Cheers.

One socket is a T30 TORX 3/8" drive.

Great machine. I have 2 and along with those 1 of the old style without the removable bin. I've given them massive use. Practice makes perfect! One just neèds to understand the different densities of the items being shredded to better understand the final result.

Redcrest58 was it the cutting blade or the aluminium sacrificial part that has been replaced 3 times? If the latter you are not properly adjusting the distance between the cutting blade and the sacrificial part. And if it is the sacrificial part that has been replaced then all you need is to order the part, lay the machine on its back, remove the cover with an Allen key, replace the old with new, making sure the hole in the cover receives what it's meant to (easily done while lying on it's back), fasten the 4 bolts with your Allen key and away you go. And while you've got the cover open find out what the best product is to lubricate the moving parts and give them a spray.

Now my question is: One of my machines has done so much work it sounds like it is shredding metal. When I put in small items it shreds them but any item greater than 5mm the cutter stops rotating and I hear a less than pleasant sound. To the experts. Is it recoverable and if so can you send me the diagrams of the internals and I'll fix it?

Thank you for your suggestion Graham T. I did wonder if I could work on the machine myself. So far I haven't so I don't know if it's the cutting blade or the sacrificial aluminium part that's been the problem. Each time I've taken it to the repair place, they've replaced the blades so it's had 3 blades and none of them have looked particularly worn. What they've done with the aluminium part I don't know but now that I've read your post, I'll make sure I find out next time the machine has to go in for repair.

Had the machine for several years....no problems, but recently when I wanted to get it going again several months later...nothing happened...have no idea why??

You're very lucky you've had the machine for several years with no problems. I've had the machine for many years with nothing but problems. The mechanics of it work very well. It's the useless blade design that's the problem. I've had to have the cutting blade replaced 3 times so far at a cost of roughly $150 each time and the blade needs replacing again. $450 worth of repairs on a machine that only cost around $300 is hardly a worthwhile purchase. Sorry I haven't been able to answer your question as that's never happened to me.

These are sold by Mitre 10, so I would ring and ask them if they have a Service Dept or where would they suggest you take it. Cheers, John.

The lock lever on the collection basket is jammed and I can't get the basket out. Any help please?

Hi, unplug machine, lay it on its side and spray CRC or WD 40 on the top of lock lever handle , leave for a little while and try it again. Put plenty on, it wont hurt it and when you get it open spray some up in the catch and on lever. Cheers.
