I have been using for 4 weeks and just noticed i have very dark skin under arm pits and lumps that dont hurt but are under skin. I love the product but concerned?? As i am using on a 8, 11 and 12 year old.. i thought was safer to use them orignal spray ...
Hey M. Pembi - Sorry to hear about your experience. It is important to listen to your body (and your kids’ skin), so we appreciate you reaching out with these concerns. We strongly recommend that you stop using the product especially to your children. We have not tested No Pong on children and we always suggest to check our complete list of ingredients/essential oils so you can make an informed decision. Admittedly, though, we do have many parents who use No Pong to their teens and preteens without adverse effects. The symptoms you’re describing—skin darkening and small, painless lumps—can sometimes happen if the Original (Bicarb) formula is a bit too alkaline for your specific skin chemistry or if it’s being applied a little too firmly. For some, especially younger skin, our Low Carb (Bicarb-Free) range is a gentler alternative that still provides strong protection without bicarb. We're sending you a private message shortly so we can better assist you.
I also have darker armpits now and had a painful lump. Not sure what to do.
Oh no, that sounds really uncomfortable, Camyla. I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Everyone’s skin reacts differently, and sometimes certain ingredients (like bicarb) can cause irritation or sensitivity, leading to darkening or lumps under the skin. It might be best to stop using the deodorant for now and give your skin a break so it can calm down. We'll send you a private message to better assist you.
I have been using The Original No Pong for quite some time with no issues. I ran out of original and used the vegan version and within a few days started getting the rash and real soreness in my armpits with lumps appearing. I am moving to Bi Carb free and hope this works or back to original.
My mum had the same issue. She switched to bi-carb free and found she didn’t react , however it didn’t stop the B.O smell like the other one did. So she stopped using all together, and is sad about that.
I have been told by others that the bi carb free doesn't work.
Hi Pete, Thank you for sharing your experience and for giving our Vegan and Original options a try. I’m sorry to hear about the irritation you’ve experienced with the Vegan version. We recommend taking a look at the ingredients list on the variant you used, there may be a different ingredient that you may have an allergy or sensitivity too.
We would love to help more and have sent you a PM.
Hi Mel, Thank you for sharing your mum’s experience with us. I’m sorry to hear that the Bi Carb Free version didn’t work as well for her and that she felt she had to stop using No Pong altogether. While our Bi Carb Free formula has been tested to be effective for up to 12 hours, everyone’s body chemistry is unique, and it can sometimes take a little experimenting to find the best match. If she’d like to give No Pong another try, we’d be happy to help her find the right fit—whether it’s adjusting the amount used, exploring another formula, or trying one of our scented options.
Please let us know how we can help further by emailing us at customerlove@nopong.com.au
I started using the original one and it worked so well but it made my armpits extremely dark I have olive skin and now i’m embarrassed to put my arms up! i have bough now the vegan fragrance free however is drying my underarms significantly I am not sure what to do.
Sorry to hear that you have experienced some discolouration. We will PM you shortly to assist you further. It might just be a matter of trying out our bicarb-free formula!
I to have developed lumps under my arms and that is using the bi carb free one. The original made my skin burn after a few days that’s why I had made the switch. I’m going to try the fragrance free vegan one now. It’s so disappointing because there are such lovely scents.
Hi Tarnya! We're so sorry to hear you've experienced sensitivity with No Pong Bicarb-Free and No Pong Original. We know finding the right natural deodorant can involve some trial and error. We're sending you a private message shortly so we can better assist you :)
I have been using no pong for approximately 3 months now & absolutely loved it to begin with. I was absolutely wrapped to find a product that worked so well and loved the fact it wasn't a roll on or spray. I highly recommended it to all of my friends and family insisting that they try this awesome Australian made product that actually really works. Unfortunately I too, have a nasty rash thats developed under my arms. My underarm is painfull and the skin has became hard, red & blistered. For the past few weeks I thought it was my shaver causing this rash so I thought I'd stop shaving until it subsided. As it did not settle and continued to get more aggrevated I out 2 and 2 together realising it is where I'm applying no pong daily that the skin is affected. Tonight I thought I'd google to see if anyone one else was having this problem and this is where my search efforts have landed me. Reading through the previous comments in this thread it's evident that this has been a common issue for women using this product going back up to 5 years ago. Im disappointed that there is no warning label on the product to inform you that for some people it may cause a serious irritation to you under arm because I would of then been aware and stopped using the product immediately instead of continuing to feed the rash by using a product that I thought could not very the route case to my problem. Sorry to day but I'm really disappointed in this product and will be informing everyone to stay well clear of using it.
Hi Rebecca, We're so sorry to hear about the rash you developed under your arms after using No Pong. We understand how frustrating and painful that must be, and we sincerely apologise for the discomfort this has caused you. Everyone's skin chemistry is unique, and unfortunately, even natural ingredients can sometimes irritate some people's skin. Baking soda, a common ingredient in natural deodorants, can be a culprit for some. As indicated in our label, we really have to recommend that you pause using No Pong so as not to aggravate the irritation. We are sending you a private message so we can better assist you.
Hello Rebecca you should try the bi carb free no pong. I was using the other one as well but my skin was sensitive to the bi carb. I switched to bi carb free and no irritation . You should try this
Thank you, Douglas, for sharing your No Pong experience with Rebecca. We greatly appreciate your support! :)
I did like using it until I also was getting lumps in armpit so I google this no pong and have read some nasty reviews about people also getting a reaction so I immediately stopped using it, I'm so glad I read some and stopped
Hi fourkids6704, I'm a customer with no affiliation to No Pong - I also had a reaction to No Pong. I sent in feedback and they replied to let me know to use only a tiny dab and to rub it in well. Since I've been doing that, I have had no reaction at all. So I'm pretty happy now, because I really like the product and the lack of plastic packaging... All the best for your skin - listen to your body first! Sue
Hi fourkids6704 - sorry for your experience. We have sent you a private message so we can better assist you.
Hi Sue - thank you for sharing your No Pong experience. That's greatly appreciated. :)
I too have developed lumps in one armpit after using no pong original for ~4 weeks. The pain is extreme. I just hope it’s nothing sinister. I will give this product to a friend who will be able to analyse the ingredients - stay tuned. What really surprised me about this product is that there is no seal, or anything stopping anybody adding something nasty whilst on supermarket shelves. It’s a shame really; the product seems to work well otherwise.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with No Pong and we're sorry to hear that you experienced sensitivity to the product. We will be sending you a PM to assist you further.
I’ve been using no-pong for a few years now and recently I too have had bad rashes and a painful lump under my arms, I use the bi-carb free ones mostly.
Hi Kat, Thank you for reaching out, and we are very sorry to hear about the irritation you are experiencing. I will be sending you a PM to assist you further.
I had been using the original new pong for a while now, however after starting a new tin, I now have what looks like burns around the edge of where I apply (but no itching). Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks for your feedback and we're sorry to hear about your No Pong experience, Jodie. We sent you a PM for assistance.
I've just brought the vegan one and I applied this morning after shaving and it's really irritating. I hope it settles down.
Hi Kirsty-Lee, thanks for your feedback. We sent you a private message for assistance :)
I've recently started using no pong (original). Whilst it was great at the start I now have a red rash under my arms which is quite painful. If I stop for a few days the rash goes away, but as soon as I start again it comes back with a burning sensation. Is this normal?
Try the Bicarb Free No Pong! Bicarb in natural deodorant gives me rashes too, but the bicarb free no pong works like a dream! I love the chai scented one.
Meg-an is correct, Rebecca You may want to try the No Pong Bicarb-Free :-) We're sending you a PM so we can better assist you. :)
A natural brand I was using no longer manufactures their deo. I found this product and thought I’d give it a go. Smells great and works wonders with the smell but very quickly developed this sensitivity mentioned in this post. Since stopping, it is no longer happening but the Pong is back. Unfortunately, stuck with 2 tins but willing to try the Bicarbonate free.
Hi Dharmathian, thank you for sharing your No Pong experience and we're sorry to hear that you experienced sensitivity. We are glad to know that you are willing to try the bicarb free and we're sending you a PM. :)
I’ve been using NO PONG for 3 month now and I now notice my underarms where I sweat the most, has darken substantially. It looks like a thick raised rash but not itching. I’m very disappointed since it’s been working so well for me. I’m hoping it will go away. I am 53 and had no discolouration before.
Sorry to hear about your experience. We're sending you a private message shortly so we can better assist you.
I've been using the original for about 4 days. I have been itchy 90% of the time and have developed red, inflamed skin where it's applied to. I found that I do smell after running around working all day but not as bad as usual. Unfortunately I have to stop, the itchiness is driving me insane. My friends don't have a problem, so it's just not meant for everyone.
Hey Tracy! Thanks for giving No Pong a shot and sharing your experience! We're sorry to hear about the irritation you've been experiencing. Everyone's skin is unique, and sometimes a product might not be the perfect fit. We appreciate your honesty. We're sending you a private message shortly to better assist you. :-)
Redness and itch under armpits since starting using no pong original, used it for 3xdays In my recent order I also received 1x bicarb free +1x spicy chai bicarb free Tonite after a shower and cleansing my armpits I applied a moisturising cream instead of no pong Wondering would I should do.....? Thanks kay yates
Hi Kay, We're sorry to hear that you experienced the some irritation. We will reach out via PM to assist you further.
My daughter has been using No Pong, she developed nasty, painful lumps on both underarms. This resulted in emerengcy surgery, where 20 abscesses were found and had to be drained. I believe this deodrant blocks the hair follicles causing a build up resulting in these lumps. Not happy that my daughter has had to go through this and it seems there are many who are also suffering the same. I will be seeking further advice from Fair Trading
did she use the one for sensitive skin?
I’m not sure just the standard one I think
Hi Bella, Thank you for your message and we are sorry to see that your daughter has had a challenging time with using deodorant. While No Pong doesn't cause pores to be blocked we have sent you a message for some tips when using No Pong to see if we can help you out. She may need to use our sensitive range as the customer above has suggested and we will be happy to organise that for you to try. Looking forward to hearing from you so we can help you further.
There’s no way she’s going anywhere near your products again. You need to be looking into what is causing many people to develop these painful red lumps since using your products
Hi Bella, We have sent you a PM so we can discuss that your daughter is using No Pong correctly, can you please let me know if you have received it or please send me the email address you have used and I will get in touch with you via email, or if you prefer please email customerlove@nopong.com.au I would like to know more about your daughter's experience. Customer Love is our number one value and we always help customers when they come to us with any issues they may be experiencing, most times they are using the product incorrectly or they need a different variant to suit their body type. Everybody's body is different and this is why we have directions on our labels, that you stop using the product. I really look forward to hearing from you. All the best, Dani Manager-Australia
I’ve just started two days ago to use this product and I’ve just realised why my underarms a rashy and itchy. I have such bad reaction to this, and I thought it was some type of heat rash. It definitely needs to be advertised somehow for first time users that perhaps sensitive skin may cause these concerns. I didn’t know it would. Feeling so itchy and such big lumps in underarms right now!
Just keep an eye on these lumps as they could turn nasty like my daughter’s did resulting in surgery and having to have 3 weeks off work whilst waiting for the wounds to close. They were not stitched up so as to allow for packing and drainage
I have been using the original, started a new tin & now I have developed at least 2 painful lumps in my armpit as well. Thankfully I have the Dr next week but I am very concerned that mine are also turning into cysts/abbesses!!
Hi Cheryl, We have sent you a PM to help assist you further.
I love my no pong, have been using it for several years now. Less stink and no more rash from aluminium based deodorants. However, and yes I do use it as instructed, I've found it staining my bras and the underarms of my clothes. They look grey and dirty. Any tips for cleaning apart from soaking every load in napisan?
Thanks for sharing your review of No Pong, Ali! Glad to know that No Pong is keeping you pong free. In regards to removing stains, our co-founder Melanie has had luck with a combination of pure lemon essential oil and dish detergent actually. She was making herself a small, personal batch and splashed a whole bunch on her shirt, which was a silky, satin-type of material and it caused an oil stain,(not from No Pong) which she then washed, to no avail. She then put some lemon essential oil on it and then scrubbed it |with some dish soap, and washed it the next day and all the stains were gone. You could maybe just try this with one shirt and see how you go. :)
Since using no ping my armpit has darkened
Thank you for sharing your review of No Pong, John. We're sorry to hear that you experienced discolouration. We are sending you a PM.
Me too!
Thanks for sharing your review of No Pong too, Julie! We're sorry to hear that you experienced the same thing. We will reach out via PM to assist you further.
This is also a definite side effect alongside the aforementioned rash and itching I have developed. Not happy .
Thanks for sharing your review of No Pong too, Keshet! We're sorry to hear that you experienced the same thing along with a rash and itching. We will reach out via PM to assist you further.
Me too!! My rash has hard red balls in my underarm and is so sore! Waiting in doctors as I write this as it's gotten worse! Do not use!
sorry to hear that Tiana - we are replying to the reply you made when we sent you a PM via FB. Grateful if you could wait for it shortly.
Me too
Me too. Used no pong for the first time and it was good for first few days, I even recommended it to all my family memberz. I developed itchy rash then turn to redness which is soo painful. It has def darken my armpits after it healed. So I did not use anything on my armpits for long months then I went and use no pong again as I didnt know it was the cause on my first reaction, and now the rash and redness is back :( it is definitely the product that irritated it. Also all my family members got reaction as I did. It was advertised as natural, I think im better off using alcohol based deodorant as it has never gave me this bad effects.
Thank you for sharing your review of No Pong, Cameron. We're sorry to hear that you have experienced sensitivities, we will PM you shortly.
I loved my no pong. Used it for 12months and encouraged everyone i know to switch over to using it. But then suddenly developed the itchy blistery rash too same as others. No change to my diet or qty used or consumption of water. Soo painful. Even went to the Dr who gave me steroid cream to soothe the pain. I gave it a break for weeks to heal. Then switched to using the bicarb free variety. The rash returned with intensity. A lab technician friend said to dump it immediately. That the ingredients in the no pong were feeding the rash. The only way to stop the itching and pain was to place a paper towel under the armpit and refresh it with a clean one every few hours. It completely healed in 2 days. Never using no pong again.
Hi patientconsumer, Thank you so much for your message. I'm sorry to hear that you have started to become irritated by No Pong after using it for a year. Irritation is really rare when you've been using it for a long time with no issues. Thank you for letting us know that there are no changes in your diet or water consumption. While we haven't changed any of our formulas, I have sent you a PM to see if we can help further but in the meantime, and as directed on our tin, I'm glad you have stopped using it. Looking forward to hearing from you and helping you out. All the best, No Pong
I also have red sore lumps and a darkening of the skin under my arms If possible please can you PM me also
Thank you for sharing your review of No Pong, Adel. We're sorry you have experienced sensitivity and discolouration. We will send you a PM to assist you further. :)
Me too I also have developed red rashes with red bumps where I use no pong , it was amazing for the first few months and suddenly this rash has occurred I’m devastated as I absolutely loved it and bought multiple of all variants. Please pm me @ no pong . Thanks Natalie
Oh, Natalie, we’re so sorry to hear this. Skin sensitivities can sometimes develop suddenly, even after months of use, and we know how upsetting that must feel, especially when you’ve been loving No Pong. We’ll send you a PM now so we can look after you and help find the gentlest option. :)
Does it work on female private parts?
Thank your for your question, Smiley. We have had a couple of customers provide feedback to us that No Pong works on their feet and under their breasts but we have received feedback of it being used in the private part. You may try it however, we haven’t designed it for this, and it’s definitely an “off-label” usage that we couldn’t personally vouch for!
Thanks, my wife will try.
I initially bought the original and the original bi carb free. So i could test if i reacted to either formula. I’m 3 weeks in and today i have noticed a weird smell and a stinging and dry armpit with the Original formula.
What would the reason be for it drying out my arm pit?
Please keep in mind I’ve been consistent in only using one for each arm.
Thanks
Hi Teagan - thank you for your feedback. Dehydration might be the culprit that makes your armpit dry. Your sweat can be more alkaline if you’re dehydrated for prolonged periods (e.g. not enough water, lots of coffee or alcohol or even detoxing). This combined with the sodium bicarbonate in No Pong can create a more alkaline environment, which armpit bacteria can’t survive, but that some people may be sensitive to, thus your irritation. I hope that helps and if you'd like more tips, please send us an email at customerlove@nopong.com.au so we can better assist you. :-) Thank you so much for your support.
I recently bought 5 tins of the product . I started using it and within a week I was covered in a task on my arms, legs and stomach. I didn’t put two and two together but tonight my armpits are fully red like they are burnt where the deodorant was applied. Anyone else experience this ??
I think some people have reactions to the pong products with bicarb in it. Have you tried usually the bicarb free option? Also perhaps you are putting too much of it on?
G'day Julianne, Thanks so much for your order of No Pong. We know it has been a while since you ordered however we have just signed up to this platform to help our customers out. If you haven't been helped out by our customer love team already, we would absolutely love to. As mentioned above by Oscar, there may be a better suited product for you and we would love to find your perfect fit for you. All the best, Customer Love
I think there may have been a batch made some time back that wasn’t right are my thoughts I was also using no ping with bi carb for a few years then around 16 months ago had a really bad reaction. Was offered a tin without bi carb and it was much better. Gave away a few of the original No pong to family and friends ended up two others also had a bad reaction. After 16 months I’ve tried using some of the tins I had left and all good no reaction hence my thinking there was a batch or couple of batches that weren’t right. I’m wary using the bi carb one Product is good otherwise
Thanks for replying, Caroline. No Pong has not changed its formulation ever. It's great that the No Pong Bicarb-Free worked with you well. Irritation is really rare when you've been using it for a long time with no issues. Could it be any other changes in your diet, exercise or hormonal? Will send you a PM so we can further assist you.
I have hard red balls in my underarm and it's all red and inflamed!! I have used all 4 types, recently the cool lavender and I'm now waiting in the doctors as I write this because the pain is so bad!! Do no use!!
I am a long time user (over a year now) of No Pong. I have loved it and recommended it to many of my friends. When I purchase, I order six tins at a time. I have never had any reaction until now. My lymph nodes began to swell, pain redness followed by rash. Today I consulted with my family doctor, without ever assuming it could be caused by No Pong. When reading comments, I notice in the last 3 months many others have had similar reactions, maybe these reactions are common and I’m only seeing most recent comments, but I have to wonder it a lot number or batch has something in it that is causing this with many people. Only one of my armpits was originally affected, so I never considered it was the deodorant, I was mostly concerned that it was something more serious as I had previously had a breast biospsy on that side. However, this morning I am waking up with pain in the other armpit as well! Can I exchange my remaining tins with a new batch or the no-carb blend? Have you had an batch issues? Has any of your product ingredients or suppliers of ingredients changes?
Nancy I am having the same problem, in the last month i keep getting swollen red lumps under one armpit, they are very sore when they start and take days to go away. I am beginning to think it is the No Pong as well, I haven't been to the doctor. I have been using it for about a year as well. I find the latest tins are quite oily and contacted them about it before xmas and they sent new ones but are the same. I think i better stop using it.
You know what Sue, I’ve been meaning to come back to share the conclusion to my story. Or at least “part two” :). No Pong support emailed me verifying that there had been no recalls or change of supplier/product. The interesting thing came when they asked me the question about my water intake, which during this time of isolation, working from home, working out way less has also seen my water consumption reduced and I had fallen off from my daily lemon/apple cider water. Once increasing my water intake, the issue rash resolved itself! Now fully healed and hydrated, I will give the product another try :).
Please read the NO PONG reply to my email:
Irritation is really rare if you've been using it for a while with no issues. Could it be any other changes in your diet, exercise or hormonal? We haven't made any changes to our formulation.
As I’m sure you can imagine, and as directed on our label, we recommend you stop using the product.
That said, a couple of things you may wish to consider are:
1. Staying hydrated may make a difference, as your sweat can be more alkaline if you’re dehydrated for prolonged periods (e.g. not enough water, lots of coffee or alcohol or even detoxing). This combined with the sodium bicarbonate in No Pong can create a more alkaline environment, which armpit bacteria can’t survive, but that some people may be sensitive to. We have seen some thoughts around using apple cider vinegar and coconut oil to help balance pH for people sensitive to bicarb-based deodorants, although we haven't personally tried it.
2. If applying No Pong after waxing or shaving, trying waiting at least 10 minutes for your skin to recover before applying. Also waiting at least 10 minutes before applying any deodorant or antiperspirant after the shower as your pores are open then and could get clogged. This gives them time to close.
3. Ensure you aren't applying too much! We recommend around a pea-sized amount because that is the most needed, but most people need much less. If you wanted to try again, I would start really small and work your way from there.
Every body is different, and hopefully, that helps inform you a little bit.
As you may know, we have a bicarb-free version for people who are sensitive to bicarb-based deodorants (ours and others).
If you are happy to try it, we would love to send you a No Pong Bicarb Free on us.
Please let me know your thoughts, and if you'd like us to send out a No Pong Bicarb Free to you, on us, just let us know :)
All the best,
Frances
That's interesting Nancy. I was using the Vegan tin, the first 4 I had were great but the next batch were oily to the point of staining my clothes. They did replace them but they are no better. I had a kidney stone 18 months ago so I have to drink lots of water every day so I don't think that is the problem with me. I stopped using it 2 nights ago and the lumps are starting to go down now very slowly. They were very painful and started as little pimple looking red dots and ended up the size of my little fingernail. I am interested to know how long it took for your armpits to recover. Thanks Sue
hi there just read through your comments, I too am getting a really nasty rash with swollen lumps under my arm pits. I have been using no pong for well over a year and this problem has only just started happening in the last few months. I know its the no pong, thats causing it. I will have to give it up although i really loved the product,,
I had the same issue. I have been using it for over a year no issues. Tried all versions. My issue seemed to occur after the xmas special tins. But i used 1 whole tin first with no issues. I found they were a bit oily and had leaked in the envelope when delivered. I started to get red lùmps, rashes and painful pimples on my left arm pit and down side from armpit. I stopped using no pong so it would heal not sure it was the nopong as it was 1 pit only. I was using steroid cream to control. Then thought it was ok used no pong and flared up again. Had a few pimples come up on other pit but really bad red rash down pit and side of chest. I was trying vegan for over 3 months and had been taking B12 supplements thinking this was the reason so had stopped them for over a month. Still have rash going down. Am using skin toner to clean and dry out skin which is working. now i have read your info i see mine must be a combination of detox , expresso coffee and dehydration. I think i was also putting too much on before this happened then i used to thinking i was not using enough due to me being male and very hairy pits. Hope yours clears up.
I have same issue. Been using No Pong original for over 1 year no problem. Then started to get itchy armpits from the last purchase. I tried the spice chai for about few weeks then started to itch. Starting from small bump i tought it was mosquito bite then it get bigger, slightly raised, red rash. I don't think I have water intake issue.
Interesting to read these comments. I have been happily using it for a couple of years, but recently developed sore red lumps in my armpit... naturally this is worrisome. I have loved the product, but fear I will have to give it up..
I Have been using no pong for a couple of years…. My newest batch of original tins have also been bothering my under arms terribly. And also causing an unpleasant odour ( not B.O) and starts a couples hours after applying. I could handle the skin darkening but the rash, burning, and weird smell I’m going to have to find something else. The bi carb free doesn’t bother my skin but it also doesn’t work as well for me and requires reapplication half way through the day . I was so glad when I found no pong, because it was the only deodorant I didn’t have to apply 3 times a day and truly stopped the smell but now I have tins of deodorant that I can’t use due to skin reactions and the very weird smell. I though I had a skin infection but if I switch to the no carb I don’t get the weird smell but I also don’t get full day coverage:(
I am experiencing a lump in my armpit, has happened once before when I started using it and it was in the contralateral armpit, I hate this being caused by no pong because I love not to have bo at all using the product, maybe the bicarb free version might suit me better??
Hi Ady, thanks for your feedback and we're sorry to hear No Pong may have caused you armpit lumps. We've sent you a private message to help you out :)
Does my pong come in different containers. I have a very very hard time getting the lids off. Have one now used a couple of times and cant get lid. Find it very hard with my hands and fingers some days and then can’t use it. As an older person we find it difficult with this. Thanks
I live in Tasmania AU and I am trialling NO PONG SPICY CHAI BICARD via a local chemist-as is my husband today -praying for a good result :D
I too had issues opening aluminium tub, and have put into a container for ease of use Tasmania AU.
G'day Michele, Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you have had a hard time opening your tins. We have only just taken charge of this review platform and we would love to help all our customers out. Please contact us via email at customerlove@nopong.com.au as we have modified our tins over the last year and you may find these easier to open. Our team would love to hear from you both.
