My NA-140VG3 (8yo, I think) has been brilliant and my wife will be sad if it has to go but it's making a noise that I can't trace (I'm an electrician). When you press the pause while it's spinning half speed, there's a hideous graunching noise that lasts about a second. It sounds like it might involve the pressed steel drum pulley that rings like a bell when you tap it. When stopping from full speed spin and at all other times, it's fine and it performs quietly and perfectly. My wife was unaware of the noise though it's been making it for 2 years!

Hi. Today my NA-140VG3 was running fine, just pumped out the main wash and was running a final rinse when there was a loud bang then machine was totally dead (no electrics at all) with electrical smell. As there was no electrics, the door lock could not be released so I had to take the machine apart to manually release the door lock from inside. I also traced the smell to the main PCB and on removing the metal lid found that something had exploded on the circuit board and blown a whole in it (near to the copper coil winding component), I think maybe a resister? Bits of whatever it was were splattered on the underside of the metal lid of the PCB. What I want to know is if there is a know issue that could cause this component to explode as I don't want to spend over $300+ to replace the board if its something else in the machine that is causing an overload on the PCB (and thus will blow it up again). The machine is around 8 years+old and has been a super reliable machine up til now.

Hi Steve, sorry to hear about the fault you have experienced with your washing machine. Sorry but we can't provide technical advice on how to repair. You would need to engage someone that is authorized to repair Panasonic washing machines. Please contact our customer service team on 132600 for the details of a repair agent.

I have the same problem. I've had my Panasonic NA-140VG3 for 9 years and have not had any problems other than a blocked filter (my fault for not maintaining it). However, a few days ago it stopped in the middle of a cycle and there is no sign of life. There is no fault code because the power circuit has a fault - the fuse is intact but the PCB is covered in about 1cm of clear liquid plastic rubber in the plastic container it is housed. The replacement PCB and housing is $300, which is a risky purchase if the root cause of the PCB fault causes the new PCB to fail on the first cycle.

I ended up buying a 2nd hand machine which had stuffed drum bearings and swapped the board, motor and all electrics apart from the element which I tested with a multimeter to confirm worked ok. All good so far. I then had to put my old drain and circulation pumps back in as the donor machine pumps were knackered and still all good. I did discover though from looking at the donor PCB that it was a small component fuse (rather than a replaceable glass fuse which there are 2 of already on the board) which had blown up and wasted the PCB. The fuse was right next to a copper wire wound component which makes me think the fuse is possibly a surge protection fuse. Maybe it's to protect against something more serious occuring as a result of surge? Who knows. I'm not risking another PCB to test if it's the motor.

Actually a 140VX3 - when the spray jets operate the machine makes a strange noise- does the unit use the pumps to spray water into the drum and could this cause the noise- no noise when pumping out the water

Hi Paul, have you cleaned the unit regularly? We would recommend using a washing machine cleaner, or a dishwasher detergent power ball in the drum of the unit. Select the hot 90 degree wash on a long cycle. This will help if there is anything caught up in the spray jets.

Ensure once this is done you also clean out the washing machine filter.

We regularly clean the washing machine and have thoroughly cleaned the filter area - have also ordered a new pump assembly -so will let you know once fitted if this was the issue

Hi there. My machine is still under warranty. It stops after every was cycle and will not move to spin after rinse. I cleaned the filter and drained it but am at a loss. Can you help please?

I've had this machine for about 6 to 8 years and it has been ok apart from having stuff get stuck in the drain. Recently it had a screw stuck between the inner and outer drum (error code H51) and basically blew up the electronics due to people trying to start it too often with out clearing the drum. To cut a long story short I've replaced both the pcb and the motor but it is still giving the same error code and will not start. Why is this?

I hope this forum is still active.

I have a Panasonic front loader NA-140VG3. I had a motor jam that overloaded the electronics and the motor. I replaced the PCB - control board - since it was obviously damaged. The machine ran for about an hour before giving a H51 error code - motor overload error. I replaced the motor, since one phase was discoloured and had a higher resistance, but the motor will not turn and the error code persists - even if I completely unload the motor by disconnecting the drum.

Help!!!

Hi All.

Have a 140VG3 and all is working fine but the machine is very loud and noisy when the drum is spinning like the bearings are about to go. Any suggestions weather to get this looked at before it totally stops or look at new? Cheers for any feedback.

Hi Jason, I've got a NA-148VG3 and have the same problem. I've had my machine 4 years and this is the second fault I've had with it. I find this unacceptable and am in the process of dealing with Panasonic directly about it. I'm in NZ so I can claim under the Consumer Guarantees Act in this case even though my warranty has expired. Obviously there are conditions attached but its worth doing a google search to see what your rights are. Because of the CGA I never purchase the extended warranty that retailers offer - it's just a sales gimmick and a great money maker for the retailer (if you're in NZ).

Check door closed, check latch? The system won't start until the door is closed and locked. The micro switch could be screwed or needs adjusting?

The best thing for grease and oil is presoak for 1 hour in a bucket with dishwashing liquid (hot water) - even works for fat splashes on items.then wash as normal.

I have just received this !you might have fix it by now,If the pump is not working, it won't be spinning, try looking in the filter there might be something blocking it grab a few towels cause it might let out a lot of water.

Same problem keep getting a H05 error if anyone knows what this is please let us both know . the clothes get trapped between the front seal and the drum which is why the filter blocks and clothes are ruined

Cycle restarts when reaches 1 min , doesn't spin and goes back to 23 min?

Jody

No it gets to let's say. 8 minutes to go and it stays there. Until you stop it.

Julianne
Julianne

Not sure, the only time mine gets stuck like this is when the items are not evenly distributed, eg like washing one pillow, and it stops until you add more items to balance it, or you remove the item to let drip dry.

nma14

I've never had this 1 minute problem. But I've have it stuck on 8 minutes and it stays there until you turn it off which is really annoying if you want to complete a load of washing and do other things.
