Hi i have a gc9240 and it has stopped steaming i have cleaned the decal removable Part but still no steam
Hello David, Thank you for taking your time to leave this review. We are very sorry to hear that your PerfectCare steam generator is not producing any steam. Would it be possible for you to check the following:
1. Is there enough water in the water tank (the ‘water tank empty’ light flashes)? 2. Is your steam generator hot enough to produce steam? 3. Are you pressing the steam trigger while ironing? 4. Is the water tank placed properly in the steam generator? You can slide it firmly back into the steam generator until you hear ‘click’.
Please feel free to reach out to us directly on 1300 363 391(Australia), or 0800 658 224 (New Zealand) from Mondays to Saturdays: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm EST. Alternatively, you can also get in touch with us on social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook (https://philips.to/fb247) and Twitter (https://philips.to/tw247). One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you. Hope to speak to you soon.

Hi philips i have a perfectcare elite plus GC9660. I have it for atleast 2yrs. Why does the blue and green light blinking at the same time? I decalc it already but still the same. Why does this happened and how to avoid it to happen again?
Hi there. I have a PerfectCare Elite Iron, purchased new in the UK from John Lewis in Jan 2019. I migrated to Australia that year, and the iron has been in storage until recently. For the couple of times i have used (plug is switch to Australian now), the steam appears to generate but there's a continues very loud steam noise like the water is continuously bubbling and does not stop. This caused the temperature to become extremely hot on the power/eco front buttons and making them untouchable which appears dangerous. Tactically I switched off the mains and no longer using until I know more. I had a previous elite model hence aware of the "normal' sound for the steam. In this instance, its much more louder, doesnt stops, and hot water leaks from the base.
Any help appreciated to resolve. Thanks,

Hi, My iron ran perfectly well for about 2 years of moderate use. It doesn’t seem to be steaming well now. I have regularly descaled using inbuilt decalc function. Now it hardly produces steam with during decalc. I suspect limescale build up. Can I use a descaler solution ? Please advice.
I have a GC9420
It gave a flash where the cable enters the handle. On opening it up I found a short had occured and melted the active conductor.
I cleaned all of the soot out and repaired the damaged conductors and associated insulation. Now when I press the power button the 3 lights on the base flash sequentially left to right.
My nearest Philips service centre is 7 hours away. I need help.
Thank you
Hi Phil, Thanks for taking the time to reach out and sorry for the late reply. That sound like a bit of a scare, we hope everything alright. We do have to say that we don't recommend opening up and fixing the unit yourself, as this might result in a dangerous situation. Although we understand that seven hours is quite a trip, we think that it still might be best to travel to the nearest authorized service center and have the unit look at by a technician. Certainly after reading that there was a flash near the handle. If you like to discuss this a bit more directly, please don't hesitate to reach out to our colleagues on 1300 363 391 (AU), 0800 658 224 (NZ), or via the details on https://www.philips.com/c-cs/support-country-selector.html.Our colleagues are always happy to assist.
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team.
Hi Phil. My wife's GC9240 is facing the same issue with the 3 lights flashing one after the other. Did u manage to find what the problem was? Thanks

I have a gc 8642 and there is algae in the water tank. How do I get rid of the algae please? Iron has been excellent otherwise. I use it every day to iron all my bed linen for our 8 room motel.
Colcun
Hello Colcun, thanks for reaching out to us. If green algae has built in your steam generator iron’s tank, you can try the following: fill in the water tank half way with hot water and shake it carefully. Then empty it and rinse well with fresh water (do not use detergent). Emptying the water tank after each use will help you preventing further algae build up. Please give our colleagues from Customer Service line a call if you need any further assistance. You can reach them on 1300 363 391 (Australia) or on 0800 658 224 (New Zealand).
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
The water seems to disappear from the tank quicker than normal and after a while water comes out on clothes rather than steam....When i have allowed it to cool down and open up the decal valve an in explainable amount of water pours out although before starting ironing i had emptied it from calc deposits and excess water. Any ideas what is happening as i can only iron for half an hour at a time? its driving me mad...
My gc9240 tap light is blinking but my water tank is full. Steam is not coming out too, any help?
I’m sorry, but I I’m not aware of that problem.
Hi Alfredo, thank you for reaching out. We'd like to see how we can get your PerfectCare up and running again. You mentioned that the magnetic sensor in the tank that detects the water level is blinking, even though the water tank is full. It could be that this sensor is stuck. Try to gently shake the water tank to release the sensor (please note that the sensor is not visible from outside the tank). When you reinsert the tank, the light should turn off. To get back to you about the steaming issues: it could be that your iron does not produce any steam because it needs to be descaled (or descaling mode is activated). It could also be that the appliance is not hot enough to produce steam; please wait until the “iron ready” light on the iron lights up continuously. If the issues with your iron persist, then it would be great if you could give our colleagues a call on 1300 363 391 (Australia) or 0800 658 224 (New Zealand), so they can assist you further. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
I have similar problem. I've checked, sensor is free to move, but problem still exists. I've tried to use water tank from other device and it solves the problem. Is it possible that water sensor part that is in water tank is broken?

The blue light flashes when you switch the iron on and that's it the iron doesn't work. Had it for about 3 and a half years. Anyone had same problem and what did you do to fix it?
I'm sorry I can't help as my iron didn't have that problem.

We have a GC9420 that only produces steam when tilted slightly backwards - not much use at that angle! Any thoughts?
I would say your Philips is not working properly, both the Phillips I owed produced steam as soon as I pressed on the button , and also now I own a Tefal Pro Express
that does the same.
Hi Tony,
Thank you for your question here. That indeed doesn't sound very practical. This could have something to do with scale build-up in the iron. When was the last time you descaled it?
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
My Philips Steam Iron System - GC9240 have just died. I used it for 3-4 years and had problems with leaking water for about a year, then water coming out instead of steam and now no steam is generated anymore. Looking for a replacement now. Anyone recommends a different brand/model? I have seen so many bad reviews of philips irons and based on my experience I am ready to check something different.
