I have a RedGum GX200 and am finding the mulch comes out finer than I'd like. Can anyone advise how to adjust the blades to produce coarser mulch?

Hi Craig, I believe that there are different types of mulch screens available. I was under the impression that changing the size of the screen will change the size of the mulch, ie smaller holes in the screen will produce finer mulch, bigger holes produce a more coarse mulch. Perhaps call Ballarat Torque Power at 1015 Howitt Street, Ballarat Central VIC. They were very help full when I purchased my machine. Perhaps they can post a larger screen to you. Cheers Keith.

I would like to know whether this machine produces 'mulch' ? Thank you

Hi Karenina, Yes this machine does produce mulch. The machine is not fast, and it takes a little practice and experimenting to get the best results. I really enjoy using my machine, it actually helps to unwind. I mulch gum tree leaves, hedge clippings, bark form the fire wood, etc. Be sure to get the Honda engine. Cheers Keith.

I’ve had mine for a couple of years and it’s been great. Now all of a sudden the blades don’t seem to want to cut. I sharpen them the way I’ve done before. But still no joy. I’m reading more about mixing green and dry wood. Is this the problem?

Hi Mat, I'm assuming that you are talking about the chipping blades. I had my blades sharpened at a blade sharpening business and if anything, they were too sharp. I found that using a bench grinder and a straight edge works better. I found that the machine has little to no problems with green and can struggle with dry wood. having said that, I usually don't chip anything bigger than 25 mm, I use that size wood as kindling wood. I have herd from other machine owner's that letting fresh cut timber, especially green leaves, sit for a few days will produces better results. Cheers.
