Hi just wonder with the fan as we have turned it on but its not going does it need to get hotter before it kicks in?

Scandia
Scandia   DM

Hi Michelle, the eco fans do require the fire to be roaring and the top plate very hot to work, wait till the fire is hot and established before placing the eco fan on top, let us know if you have any other issues or need anything again in the future, Graham @ Scandia

Is the stand removable as we would like to use one we already have which is lower?

Scandia
Scandia   DM

Hi Ross, the pedestal on the Warmbrite 140 is welded on so i believe this would be difficult to remove. Secondly i wouldnt recommend it as this model is a small radiant fireplace which really does put out a lot of heat for its size. Whatever you put it on top of rather than the pedestal provided would also be un-tested. Graham (Customer Service Team Leader) @ Scandia service@scandiagroup.com.au

Can I burn some cypress pine with red gum in the 140

Scandia
Scandia   DM

Hi Larry, cypress pine is good as kindling as it is quick to ignite and burns strong. Use double or triple split red gum next once the fire is ready to be built up, then large logs when ready. Graham (Customer Service Team Leader)

The bricks in my Warmbrite need to be replaced and they measure 230x120x40. I have looked in Bunnings and the ones in there are too small. Where can I get bricks????

bren

you can use more small bricks and cut to fit, or for that matter use larger bricks and cut them with a masonry disc to whatever size you need if you cannot buy the exact replacement.

I've got a 200 LE Varmbrite which is driving me crazy. We replaced our 30 year old Masport as the Greenies don't approve of it. So the PC crazy council put a ban on fires like that. As if that will make one iota difference to the so-called "climate change" China alone pollutes more in an hour than NZ does in a year. But the PC politicians are so afraid of China that they meekly toe the line. But of course, it's all about money and F--- the people of our fair land It had a cast iron fire box which retained the heat overnight. But not this heap of crap. After only 3 months use, all the tiles are cracked. No, we haven't burned hardwood. The only way to get this fire to perform is with the door open. As for burning over night, just forget it. But our NZ made Masport did. We could even burn tee tree and other hard woods in it. But back the Scandia. it's crap. But as the man said, you get what you pay for.

Mines been great sorry to hear . Totally agree with your comments about China and carbon emissions

My 3 year old scandia burns all night long and into the next morning/afteroon. You said, "no, we haven't burned hardwood". I'm like, what the?? You are supposed to burn hardwood. I challenge you to get any fire of any brand to burn over night without using hardwood. I use spotted gum or Mallee for overnight burns

Bjørn B.

Thank you but our Scandia has a aluminium label pop riveted by the door that states "Burn only soft wood" When I queried this with Scandia, they said the guaranty will be void if hard wood is used as the 200 LE Varmbrite isn't designed for hard wood. I can well believe that as all the tiles are now cracked after only 3 months use and will probably fall out before the winter is over. So will I recommend this fire to a friend?

Not sure mate but don’t buy a Scandia they are built crap!! Really poor workmanship! Go with a reputable brand ie Masport, Jarrahdale ect

Tom P.

jason, you seem to have a vendetta against scandia. I think we got your opinion the first, second and third time you started bashing the company. I have a scandia. In its 3rd year now. Nothing wrong with it. It's fantastic. Nothing has gone wrong. It even burns overnight which people seem to have problems with. It's what you burn that counts. And whether it has been installed correctly with enough draft over the chimney. Yes they may be made in China but they still meet and exceed australian emission standards. They offer a cheaper alternative for people that may not be able to afford a more expensive option.

Jason

I feel obligated to warn people!! Maybe if Scandia showed a little more compassion when my stove fell apart I may have had good things to say!! As for a cheaper option! It takes people along time to pay/commit to a fire place!! What is the point if the can’t use it after 12 months!! I am not alone take your time to scroll through the real reviews! Guys don’t do it, pay a little extra and go with a jarrahdale, massport ect!! You don’t won’t to put your stove outside on the roadside after 12mnths

Do you have to screw it to the hearthstone via the four screw brackets or were they only there for crate transport? There is no mention in the book.

we just stood ours on the tiled concrete slab floor with no fixings as it is so heavy its not going to topple over or move very much..
