Is there a reason the damper cannot be adjusted with the door closed?
I have found that there is little adjustment of the damper control. More like it is fully open or partially closed. This is to keep normal combustion optimised for reduced smoke and maximum heat. You can shut down the damper control with the door closed and it will go into slow burn or overnight burn. As long as the heat is in the unit first it will keep burning. No fan but. This will cool the fire box too much.
Hi Jen, if you are referring to airslide which is your primary air control, this is certainly ok to adjust with the door closed. We recommend opening the airslide a few seconds before re-filling the firebox with more wood as this can reduce any smoke inside before refuelling etc. If your airslide cannot be moved with the door closed the springs holding the airslide may need to be adjusted. Hi Rob E, if you can confirm the serial number or the series of your Warmbrite 300 i can give you a code to use when ordering the spare part through the special orders desk of your local Bunnings Store, Graham (Customer Service Team Leader @ Scandia)
I was wondering if the top of the Scandia Warmbrite 300 gets hot enough to put a kettle on or slow cook soup etc.
Hi Sue Mine certainly gets pretty hot and more than hot enough to keep a tea pot or a cooked soup or stew beautifully hot. Think you would need a fair amount of wood to cook from scratch and the heat would not help the longevity of the stove. Ron
Morning Sue, Unfortunately, not recommended. Will damage the top part of the fireplace. Regards Nicolas Scandia Customer Service
