Selleys Rapid Mould Killer Questions & Answers

Please note that I am handy and experienced, however, I am not an expert. Good mould killers are effective on painted ceiling. IMPORTANT. Spray the general area and not just the mould you can see. New growth is often difficult to see. You could also consider painting your bathroom with a mould resistent paint. If condensation is a problem then, if not already installed and used, you need an exhaust fan. If mould killer doesn't work then you must consider other causes. I have had this problem a couple of times. Good mould killers will kill what you see, however, the source of the mould will be on the other side of the plasterboard. This would suggest you have a leak on your roof. Fix the leak and kill the mould from the inside of the ceiling. I currently have mould in my laundry ceiling which was caused by a leaking pipe in the kitchen which is above the laundry. I have sprayed what I can see, however, it is growing. I will have to cut a hole in the ceiling then spray the other side of the plaster board. I will then repair the hole with fresh plsterboad. Fortunately I have all the required parts as I recently fully renovated my previous home. I will also paint both sides with a mould resistent paint.

I would try a small section to see if it might work. You haven’t mentioned what type of material. Good luck.

Hi Ash, Yes, Selleys Rapid Mould Killer can be used in a fridge to remove Mould, however we do suggest cleaning the fridge while it is empty, making sure you rinse very well after applying. Hi Jojo, Thanks for your question. Selleys Rapid Mould Killer contains bleach so may cause discolouration if used on fibreglass surfaces. We recommend it for use on tiles, porcelain, rubber and glass. If in doubt, you can spot test on an inconspicuous area first to see if discolouration occurs.

No, it is not safe for septic systems. Selleys says it's made with Sodium Hypochlorite, commonly known as bleach, and Sodium hydroxide, which is caustic soda. These chemicals can kill the helpful bacteria in septic systems. Vinegar kills mould and is safe. Twist the nozzle where the spray should come out. It starts ‘off,’ if you turn it a quartre turn one way then it’s like a jet stream, the other way is a spray :)

Definitely not, it bleached my socks when I stood in some droplets that got on the floor while I was spraying things.

I have not used it on fabric but it does a brilliant job in the bathroom!!!

Could there be part of the room where the product hasn't been cleaned off afterwards or even maybe spilt? Mundane thinking.......is the lid on tightly enough or any product dried on the edge of the bottle. Try vanilla to neutralize. Sorry don't know the layout of the room in question but guess no flow though air.

I used it for the entire dry ceiling of the bathroom and it was perfect. It was perfect for the dry walls too. If this doesn't make sense, take photos with your phone and contact Selleys directly.

I don't know what the bathroom wall is made of/if there is some sort of finish or paint on it. If this were me, I would ask a friend or someone you trust to look at this and advise rather than just sell you something else. Sorry I can't be more helpful but I used this product liberally on a couple of different surfaces and it was great.

I go for Selleys Products any day. Specifically for inside the shower, on walls, floor etc I'm not sure. I did the ceiling area inside the shower as well as the ceiling of the ensuite area, which was a shocker, believe me. Couldn't believe the great job it did.
