St. George Questions & Answers
My accounts frozen without even knowing me. Contacted support multiple times but no one told me why. Better to stick to other banks and stay a way from them. Zero help an
How long did it sort out
I have banked with St George for over 14 years, paid off 3 home loans etc. Now that I am retired, I appear to be a nobody. I am applying for a $2000 credit increase on my credit card for a trip overseas. I have kept my card limit low because of fraud risk. I have sent my super statements but that doesn't seem to matter. Is there a bank that actually respects retirees?
The absolute worst experience in attempting to set up a simple bank account. Online application didn't work correctly. Incorrect information provided by the sign up service - can not logon before doing identity check in a branch or via Auspost, etc.. Forms auto generated for ID verification missing critical information. Went into the main HQ branch in Kogarah, NSW and was messed around getting the account activated - refused to use my ID/statements/etc. from online banking, etc. Finally everything created for a joint account after an hour or more. Waited for ATM cards to be sent - one sent ok to the branch, but 2nd never arrived - called and was advised it should have been sent to the bank - went to the bank and they advised it should have been sent to home and wait - 3.5 weeks in and no ATM card.. Regarding customer service - every call and the messages are that they are receiving a greater than normal amount of calls and wait for 30+ mins to speak to anyone....
The way I see it, if the systems they have can't perform the simplest of sign up / account management tasks how could I possibly trust them with any amount of money...... Truly the worst banking experience I've experienced anywhere in the world...
yep, St George are the worst when it comes to their online application system. The shitheds accepted my online application for an additional cardholders, said it was coming in the mail, then a few weeks later received a letter to say the application has been halted and need to provide them more information. If they can't get their sht together and deal online, what's the point of online applications? Second they don't even mention what they need to approve the application, just "contact us" and wait on the hotline for 5 hours for something you can't prepare beforehand. It's a shitshow, Westpac reuined a once good company in St George. RIP.
Anyone know how long it takes st george to approve a home loan. It's been 2 months now.
I'm trying to increase my current home loan - am also at the 8 week mark with no approval yet. Really considering taking the entire home loan plus bank account and credit card to another bank.
The initial application seems to be quick. Everyone's circumstances are different of course. If I had known that an application started months go would take 4 months to settle, I would have withdrawn application. I could have asked current lender to review circumstances and negotiated top up loan. I don't know why it is taking so long but it has impacted in terms of causing uncertainty and worry for me. I have been reading the reviews to try and find answers myself. It is perplexing and the feedback I would give all banks is to simply keep customers informed and be open in terms of telling them how long the process could take. The uncertainty is an awful feeling and isolates customers. And then they go on product review seeking answers. I was so excited to change banks but that gloss has worn off. I am sure it will be reignited once it falls into place but if I ever apply for loans again, I will ask more questions around time frames.
Is there anyone I can contact to independently look at my account and the handling of Bank of Melbourne refusing to refund my account
St George would not bother to have a rep on this site. They couldn't care less.
My Account has been frozen for almost 2 weeks now and I have speaking with customer service for a week now and they told m they will resolved and yet still my account still remain frozen .
how do you expect the public to know the answer, I dont know why you would be asking here on a public review forum
Can my account receive money from overseas
ask the bank
Can you ask the bank?
Don't suggest to ask the bank. They are absolutely hopeless.people come on this site as a last resort out of frustration. St George bank has to be the worst bank around. Safer to deal with Al Capone.
Hi there I try transfer money to commonwealth bank why there is zero in begginng of account number?
ask the bank i dont why you would be asking here for
Why would you be begging?
Ive lost my debit card & put a block on it myself using the app. Now im reporting it on the app to the bank that ive lost it. If they put a block on it can i still access it by using cardless cash?
The logical thing to do to get the correct answer is to ask the bank
have you thought about contacting the bank
Omg sammy, michael & every other moron who feels they need to state the obvious… we get it. Contacting the bank should be the first step. What do you geniuses recommend after you get through to a worker with the IQ of a gumboot…,
I paid out a home loan around 15 years ago. At the time St George said that it would be safer to keep our deeds with them. I have also had a Portfolio account with them for over a decade (they say 11 years, my recall is more like over 20 years) which I have no intention of ever using. On many occassions I have attempted to close this account saying that I have no need for it. I have constantly been told that I can not close the account as it is linked to the original home loan and that I would have to pay a fee of several hundred dollars to release the mortgage. I have been charged account fees every month and I feel that they had manipulated me into this for their own means. Years later and still forced to pay fees for something that I will never use.

I have a joint account with ex partner but he doesnt use nor acess the account, but his mother has done so to take money out for kids savings. Ex cant remember his details, password etc. How would i be able to tell if his mother has still been acessing logging on to account after was asked not to. I do plan on closing this account and open another.
All Transactions should be on the statement no matter who did the transaction to get the correct information contact St george or ask in a branch they wont answer you here
what are your 3 information systems used in your bank
Is anyone else fed up with these system outages that happen every weekend? Im tired of not being able to touch my funds from other accounts when i want! Its my money and you do this to often.. im getting jack of it and everyone else in other banks don't have this issue... if it keeps happening ill be taking my money elsewhere..
I've only got a credit card with St George now, my everyday account is with Westpac. I haven't used the card in ages because it is a massive pain to deal with. I've applied for a Frank card with Members Equity that has 9.99% interest rate and will cancel my St George one when it arrives, there is absolutely no incentive to keep or use it.
I know it's terrible what I find abserd is how every transaction happens a day after every other bank. Boycott st george
St George has the worst internet banking experience of any bank in the market. They actually make you "end date" your regular payments... they're REGULAR payments - usually electricity, rates, water etc. they don't come to an end. If you're not keeping an eye on them ALL the time then they fall off, your bills don't get paid and all of a sudden you're getting calls about overdue payments. It sucks hugely. I'm a big girl, I can jump in and stop a payment anytime I want but I shouldn't have to remember to continually watch something that I set up so I didn't have to think about it all the time. The way they set up your access to your online accounts, and how this interacts (or doesn't interact) with other banks is ridiculous. I sent my daughter money to her Commbank account the other day. I'd done it before from this account so it should have been all okay. It too FIVE days to reach her. These are only some of my gripes about St George - there are so many others. Avoid at all cost.
