Sunbeam Water Purifier & Chiller WF7500 / WF7550 Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhy is my sunbeam water filter leaking from where the new cartridge is inserted?
Sorry but I can't help now but I would ring Sunbeam and ask them. They are always helpful when I have rung them for any of my Sunbeam products.
Any tips on how to fix the water pump? Turns on etc, but when you push the button to get water, there is absolutely nothing, no noice etc
Hi Kerry, if you kindly go to our website attached external link & scroll to the end of the page you will find service agents locator. If you click on there you will find any in your local area they should be able to assist you with your enquiry. Thanks
I don't have my water chiller anymore as it died but it was the best I had ever used. I actually owned 3 of them. I do remember that if I did have any problems, I just rang Sunbeam who totally helped with ideas to try. My last water chiller though lasted 6 years with no problems.
My sunbeam water purifier has a bad taste even after putting a new filter on it how can this be fixed Glenda
HI Glenda....Unfortunately mine died a few years ago. If yours is new, it might just be the plastic smell you sometimes get with new ones which would make it taste funny. I know from when I had mine if any problems I rang up Sunbeam customer support and they were always helpful.
Hi Glenda, Maybe return the filter to store for a replacement and see if this helps.
Where can I buy a filter for this purifier?
Hi Brooke31, Easiest to buy from an online retailer. Just Google Wf7500 and they should come up.
My water comes out cloudy is that ok. I have changed the filter. What should I do?
All I can think of if perhaps you have not rinsed out the water container properly when you cleaned it with bicarb soda. You really need to flush the bicarb water out a few times until you can actually see that the water is now clear.
Hi Lea. How many times have you flushed the new filter? Ideally the water should be crystal clear after flushing approximately 3 litres through.
Thank you☺
How do you change the filter? I removed it easily but the replacement is not fitting in correctly?
I'd be making sure you had the correct filter to fit the machine. They are pretty easy to fit otherwise.
Thanks. I did have the correct filter and finally got it to slot in correctly. Now I realise the cooling function is stuffed!!
What is the NSF rating for the WF7500?
Don't know sorry, I have been told you can't buy chiller units anymore, only the filter units. Our 2nd unit died after 13 months, would NOT get another. Have replaced it with an Aquaport Filter.
How do jou get appart the chiller to repair the the power supply to the chiller cell?
Hi Jim, never got that far, our chiller unit died after about 13 months (yep JUST out of warranty) and so we just used the filter as a filter. we turned the unit on to power the pump when we needed to filter the water, then turned it off again. We filled our bottles the night before and kept them in the fridge for work the next day.
Thanks for your import. I did persist. Got it apart. The Peltier cell was open circuit probably by the fact that there was very little heat sink past under it and there was virtually no tension on the two holding screws. ( It cooked itself) I will get a new cell tomorrow from Jaycar Part No ZP9102 a 51W/6A cell under $20.00. Apart from some new heat sink past I will put a couple of spring washer per hold down screw to make sure pressure stays on the heat sink. If you wont to fix yours? four screws on the bottom one of them under a foot pad and two small ones under little plastic inserts up beside the water outlet. Don't forget to release the 240v cord grip. Yours may not be the same fault but have a go. There is a lot of neg comment but as a retired electrical engineer there not that bad. The fan is a larger quieter ball bearing job than the old models. The older models had a sleave bearing fan that used to rattle on top of the annoying fan noise after a couple of years.
Jim.
Hi Jim, Mine is the WF7550 - I have removed the back cover and the screws you mentioned and have removed the screws holding the transformer but I cannot see how to release the heatsink and fan - can you give me a clue? Chris
I have a sunbeam pure source that plugs into power it has a jug on the side that you remove to fill does this filter also chill the water I brought it second hand?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with this unit. There should be a model or serial number that should help refine a Google search for more information on your specific unit. Good luck.
I have the Sunbeam WF7800 and am wondering if the part which you pour the water into, is removable so I can clean it? Ants took up residence in it today and I want to give it a really good clean. Any help much appreciated. TIA.
Hi, I don't think any of the internal components are removable accept the actual filter cartridge because of the possibility of water ingress into the electrical system, an authorised Sunbeam repair centre may be able to dismantle the reservoir and clean and reseal to the correct standard. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Thanks Graham. I'll see what I can do. I also noticed a build up of dirt(?) in the bottom corners of the reservoir also, which I wiped out with a cloth.
Hi Narelle. Pulling the unit apart is a bit tricky and I wouldn't recommend it unless you are used to doing these tasks. The internals need to come out to access the screws that hold the water reservoir. The internal area below the reservoir is more than likely where the ants are hiding anyway. I'm an electrician and still found it tricky (and time consuming) dismantling and replacing everything. I also had an ant problem and simply turned off the power and sprayed them. Waited a few hours and turned the power back on. Dust gets attracted to the cooling vent at the back so all you can really do is keep that clean to aid cooling by wiping with a damp cloth. If you know someone with a compressed air unit or perhaps 'air in a can' with a small straw that attaches to the spay nozzle, you can poke that through the holes in the cooling vent at the back to blow the dust and dead ants around a bit. Again, ensure the unit is unplugged when/if you do this.
Hope that helps.
Hi we are minding a friends place and they have one of your water chillers. It was working fine and now it has stopped pumping water. I think the light on the trigger switch was blue (not sure) but now it is white.
I have turned the unit off but not sure what to do as i dont want to break it. Can anyone help?
Turn it back on and see if it is pumping any water.
The filter might need changing.
The chill part of the water purifier and chiller does not work. The room temperature is working well. Can someone help me with the problem, please. I wrote and contact Sunbeam and no body can really help me there. They don't seem to know what's going on and towards the end no one response. Also would like to know if the filter is working ok if the chill part is not. The back part of the chiller used to be hot but now its just cold. Thanks.
Hi Jules, Welcome to to the World of Sunbeam Water Purifier crappy product and customer service. This happened to me around about 11 months of use and I took it back to the store and they sent it to Sunbeam who sent a replacement. The replacement lasted 12 - 15 before the motor went. A sucker for punishment I bought a second unit as the warranty had expired on the first one. The second one lasted almost 2 years before it also crapped itself :)Just a couple of tips I found made the unit last a little bit longer than 12 months. Tip 1 don't use the supper fine filter, I found the machine struggled/strained to push the water through, probably weared out the motor a lot sooner than normal. I used the normal/standard filter, you also get a better stream of water coming through. 2 make sure the back of the unit plenty of space for ventilation as this is where the unit expels the heat from the chilled water.
Hope this helps.
I have had my WF7550 for about 14 months. Yesterday it started dripping very quickly from the tap spout. Can you please suggest a cause
Hi Alan, you will need to take the filter out empty it by shaking in the sink. Then empty the base and re-fill. If the filter needs replacing this could also be the reason for leaking. For further assistance, please contact our Consumer Support Team on 1300 881 861.
my water chiller made a noise and then the motor stopped. I have vacuumed the back of the unit, and the manual says to reset the unit. Can you please tell me how to reset the unit.
Hi Desley, you switch off the unit from the wall, empty the base by undoing the valve on the bottom. Once the water has emptied you replace the valve (tightly) re-fill the water again turn on the power and allow a couple of hours for the unit to cool.
Why is my brand new water purifier and chiller (sunbeam wf7550) dripping consistently...? Also why do I see on the website that it has been discontinued? What was the reason for this?
How can I make it stop dripping?! Only been open for an hour!!
This unit has seals on both the filters and inside near the chiller most of the leaking occurs from the 2 filter seals remove the filter from the unit and look to see if the 2 black seals are in position and then put it back on the unit ensuring it audibly clicks when pushing down into place.
If the unit is still leaking from the grill area near the motor it is terminal just like my second machine .
As to why the units are being discontinued this may explain it all chiller function machines have a 100 percent failure rate inside 3 years which I got from a former New Zealand manager. Explain yourself Sunbeam offshore chinese items will be your demise!
Hi I'm not sure why that's happening but if sunbeam have discotinued the product, they would also have provided you with a alternative model. If the alternative model doesn't have a chiller, then it's safe to assume that the issue has to do with the circuitry of the chiller and/or motor. I would take it back to the retailer ask for a refund or exchange to use to buy something else (anything but sunbeam). Let the retailer deal with sunbeam direct, trust me you don't need the headache.
The product is clearly not fit for use/purpose and is a serious safety concern especially with little children. Remember most retailers won't tell you about their obligations around statutory warranty.. Ie after the manufacturers warranty expires. Hope this helps and good luck.
Ps in the meantime if you are still using the wf7550 I would suggest you elevate the unit so it doesn't sit in a pool of water.
Hi Not happy Jan4431, Thank you for your enquiry, it may seem that there might be an air bubble between the unit and the filter which could be causing the leak. The best way to eliminate is to take out the filter and shake out all of the water, then replace back into the unit.
