Weber Baby Q Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedAm i able to purchase conversion to natural gas jets for weber baby Q1000?
Hi Jon, unfortunately the Baby Q does not support natural gas and can only be used with LPG.
I have a 2012year BabyQ trying to cook a roast, Once up to heat of 200c , can't seem to turn the temp down. What could cause this issue? Regards Bill T
Hi Bill, thanks for your question. What setting do you have your dial on, and what are you trying to cook? A temperature of 200c is within the indirect medium temperature range that would be ideal for cooking a roast. This article might help you with the set up for your barbecue: external link
If you're still having trouble controlling the temperature, please give us a call on 1300 301 290 and we can give you some more specific troubleshooting support. Just have your barbecue's serial number handy.
I'm trying to reduce the temperature by turning the "Control Knob" to the lowest setting, but the temperature keeps rising!
Hi Bill, thanks for that. If you adjust the control knob, note that it may take between 10-15 minutes for the barbecue temperature to adjust internally as it takes time for the heat to come down with the lid closed.
The temperature kept rising so I “Thumped” the control button inwards & it “solved “the issue!
Hi, I have a Baby Q 100 which is old model and it says to use propane cylinders minimum capacity of 4.5kg and maximum capacity of 9kg on owners manual. I am thinking of getting 4kgs one instead of 9kg. Is that ok to use 4kgs cylinder and safe to use? Thanks
Hi Oliver, you can use a 4kg LPG cylinder if you are able to find one that can attach to the barbecue, as sometimes smaller gas cylinders have a different connection. Just note that sometimes people can find that the pressure of gas to the barbecue can sometimes differ when using the smaller sized gas bottled, which may mean you might need to add some extra cooking time on for your cooks. We hope this helps!
how do I change battery on Weber Q1000?
Hi Bruce, happy to help. That's a tricky question as there isn't a battery (assuming you're talking about an igniter) on a Q1000; are you sure that is the correct model type? If you're happy to email ANZ_social@weber.com with your barbecue's serial number, then we can let you know some instructions on how to get your barbecue up and running again. Alternatively you can call 1300301290 and talk to our customer service team.
Wondering if anyone is able to advise whether the Weber Flame IQ a) needs to be manually switched on each time the bbq is used (or does it activate automatically when the bbq is switched on once installed) and/or whether it b) prevents the bbq from switching on until the Flame IQ has been activated? If neither of these safeguards exist, the value of installing the device would seem somewhat questionable. Ie. the entire operation of the device could be negated by human error in the form of neglecting to turn on the device.
Hi Karen, thanks for your question. When using the Flame iQ attached to your Baby Q you need to turn on the device prior to the ignition of the barbecue, as the barbecue will not ignite unless the device is turned on. When the Flame iQ is turned on it runs a check which takes a couple of seconds and then opens up an internal solenoid to allow gas flow, and without this process the barbecue will not ignite.
We hope this helps!
Thanks for the response. Yes, that is helpful, thank you.
I have a weber baby q1000 and trying to find a hose that fits the small inlet into the bbq at one end and the other end has a caravan/motorhome gas bayonet. Can you get this type of hose for the q1000?
Hi Jeff, you can purchase a lpg bayonet hose from our customer service team. You can get in touch with the customer service team on 1300 301 290 and you will need to know your serial number when contacting the team.
Please note that if your barbecue requires a flame safety device to operate with a bayonet hose the team will need to confirm that you have a device prior to selling the hose, and they will discuss this with you. Thank you.
Can you use a full plate on a baby q1200n
Hi George, yes you can use a full hot plate on the Baby Q 1200N. You can find the Full Hotplate at your local Weber Store or Specialist Dealer or online here: external link Thanks!
Does baby q come with gas bottle hise and fitting
Hi Toni, all of our barbecues come with the gas hose and regulator connected.
Hi, I'm very confused about the new regulations regarding the flame safe device. My Weber Baby Q is a 2017 and I connect it to the bayonet outside the caravan. Does this mean I can't use it this way or do I have to buy a flame safe device. Cheers Liz
Hi Elizabeth, If your Weber Baby Q has a permanent marking on the data label stating, "Do not install in, or connect to consumer piping or gas supply system of a boat or caravan" then you do require a flame failure device on your barbecue when connecting to your caravan bayonet.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Can you buy a smoker box to fit the Q1200 please?
I personally haven’t purchased one, however a quick search of Google said they can, different suppliers can for about $17.00 aus
Hi Rebecca, the smoker boxes are not compatible with the Baby Q due to the sizing of the grills and the required space needed for the smoker boxes and the convection tray and trivet.
Is there an update on when the caravan compliant fitting will be available for the weber baby Q? Will it also be available for the next size model up? I am looking to buy a BBQ for my new caravan and want the weber rather than switch to the Ziggy.
Mark, saw the device at the caravan and and camping show yesterday on a Weber Baby Q. Price will be about $200 dollars. Bigger than I thought and has to be powered by 12 volt as well. It was on the Everything Caravan and Camping stand.
Wow! Thanks for the answer. I think I'll buy a Ziggy!
I saw that at the caravan and camping show today too and was disappointed to see how big it is, that it needs to be powered and the cost. I think I'll just continue to connect direct to my gas bottles even though with the regulations not being retrospective I could still use my bayonet.
Bought one last week from Weber Store in Taylors Lakes (Vic). They’d only come in a couple of days beforehand and I was contacted as I had placed my name on a wait list. Price was $199. Was told that there was limited availability at that time and that would be the case up to the Christmas period (Taylors Lakes store had been issued with 12 units).
I had to buy a new gas bottle for my baby Q. They gave me one with a black screw top. I cannot get it to fully screw onto the baby Q hose connection though and gas leaks. Do I need a new baby Q hose to suit it?
Hi Claire Thank you for getting in touch. You would have received the gas bottle with the new Type 27 connection, this is why you're finding it challenging to screw on. We would recommend seeing if you can purchase the gas bottle with the old connection or you will need to purchase a new hose for your Baby Q. Please send us a DM on Facebook or give us a call on 1300 301 290 and we will be able to assist you further.
Hi, is a 4.0 kg bottle okay for a baby weber? thanks
Hi Kevin
Yes this should work well with your Baby Q. If you do come across any issues please let us know

Hi Maddog

Hi there

Help! Need to cook a 4.1kg boned pork leg roast. Can only find recipe for 1.5kg. How long do I cook it for??
Hi Rhonda Thank you for reaching out. When cooking a roast that is 4.1kg it is important to consider if it will fit in the barbecue with enough room to achieve convection heat. If the barbecue is not thoroughly clean and there isn't enough room for heat circulation you may have some challenges.
Our rule of thumb when roasting is to measure the thickest part of the roast and for each millimetre cook it for 1 minute. So if your roast is 10cm thick then you would roast it for 100 minutes to achieve medium doneness. If you have any further questions please call our customer service team on 1300 301 290
Thank you very much!
Hi Weber team, when are you going to treat your loyal customers like adults and give us an honest answer regarding the Weber q flame failure devices? First of all it was scheduled for 2022, then late 2022, then early 2023 followed by late 2023. How long before you amend it to early 2024? If there is problems with development or production of the devices at least be adult enough to give your loyal but wavering customers an honest answer. Is that too much to ask?
Hi Chris We understand your frustrations and we appreciate your patience during this time. The flame safeguard device for the Weber Baby Q has been reviewed and accepted by all Australian State and New Zealand Gas Regulators and is in the final stages of certification. It will be launched in late 2023. Our innovative product has taken time to develop and has been carefully crafted with your needs in mind. We're proud to say that it's been designed right here, close to home, to ensure it meets the high standards you expect. We hope when it is released you will see the value and innovation in the product. Thank you again for your patience
How old is your Weber Q? I assume you know you don’t need a flame failure device unless your BBQ was manufactured “after re-certification” (without a flame safeguard device) and has a permanent marking on the barbecue, stating “Do not install in, or connect to consumer piping or gas supply system of a boat or caravan.”
Hi Smiley Jim, thanks for your feedback. I was aware of that information but I’ve personally had my Weber Q flame go out on two separate occasions in blustery conditions when in close proximity to the caravan. So now I’m keenly looking forward to a solution to the problem to try to mitigate the safety concerns.
Anymore news on flame failure device release date?
Hi Nellie
Thank you for reaching out. The flame failure device will be released later in the year, please refer to our FAQ page for further information external link . Thank you
If I purchase a weber baby q, can I use a bench 40cm x 90cm for bbq to sit safely on?
Hi Abelle Thank you for reaching out. That sound be fine, as long as it is on flat solid ground and does not wobble. You also need to ensure that your barbecue is at least 60cm away from any walls. If you need any further advice, please give our customer service team a call on 1300 301 290
Anyone know the diameter of the gas regulator on a baby q?
Hi John
Thank you for getting in touch. The diameter of the gas regulator on a hose is 7cm for both an LPG hose and a natural Gas hose. Please let us know if you have any further questions
Thanks
I have a brand new baby Q and a new gas bottle with the correct connection, yet when I connect the hose to the gas bottle it leaks gas really bad. Is there supposed to be a rubber seal or something on the inside on the hose connection?
Hi Justin Thank you for reaching out. We can assist you here. Does your hose screw on the outside of your gas bottle or in the inside of your gas bottle? Can you determine if the leak is coming from the connection to the barbecue or to the gas bottle?
