Two questions. Is it harmful to animals? Can it be used on wooden docks without harming the lake water?

Hi Gerry, great questions that can only be answered by the manufacturer. Liability is with the manufacturer not myself. Find out who sells it and ask them the questions. I can however vouch for the performance. FYI - I have 2 dogs and lock them in the house when I am spraying the roof. I also look for a 5 day rain free forecast and only spray when the weather is calm but that’s just my personal doing. Cheers

Can your product be used on colourbond roofing and is it safe domestic water storage?

The stuff does not work. Its a scam. Read the small print - where it says that it can take up to 9 months to work!!!

Its been over 9 months now and the algae is just as bad.

They are con artists, cheats and thieves.

Yes you can! It works just really well. You just need to follow the instructions properly (which most people fail to do) and be patient as it takes time. Great product!

Can it be used on sandstone that butts up against stained merbau deck. My concern is that if it drops onto the merbau it will be detrimental to the timber

I don"t believe it would damage but i am not expert I have been using the product for many years and would recommend but important to follow instructions and remember this is not a overnight fix . I am due to do some paving areas that I did 3 years ago and they still look good compared with neighbor who water blasted there's .(Wet & Forget’s environmentally-safe formula is designed to remove mold, mildew, algae, moss or lichen from your outdoor surfaces without causing the damage, such as pitting or corrosion, that harsh solvents can cause. It also will not leach into the soil and kill your plants, as harsh chemicals can do.)

It will have no effect. The stuff is totally useless - you may as well spray pink coloured tap water for all the effect it has. Read the small print - it takes 12 months to work. For us it’s been six months already and zero difference.

Can you use wet and forget to get rid of moss in a lawn

I'm not sure..... better to contact Wet & Forget directly. They're very helpful.

external link  under FAQ Will Wet & Forget get moss out of lawns? Sure will! Firstly lightly water the lawn but not enough to saturate the moss. Do this late in the day when the sun is low so that evaporation is kept to a minimum. Dilute the 5L Wet & Forget 7 parts water to 1 part Wet & Forget and spot spray the moss. You may have to give it a couple of goes until you have it under control. At worst you may get slight burning on the grass but it will recover very quickly. Rake the dead moss out. then sprinke lime over the area as this is usually a sign that your pH of the soil is not quite right.

Thank you for your reply D I do appreciate it, however, I did think the questions were to the manufacturer. Maybe they will get in touch anyway. Cheers Maureen

It is frequently used on the outside of colourbond roofs for exactly the same purpose. Use the same concentration as is recommended for brick or steel. To stop waste from dripping, likely because you are coating the underside, consider using a gelling agent or other thickener (maybe PVA aka "wood glue").

Otherwise, forget about wastage/dripping and don't buy a branded product, but get hold of benzalkonium chloride from a chemical supplier (MUCH cheaper), or buy it from a supermarket/pool shop as pool algaecide/algicide (Tomayto/Tomarto). Buying exactly the same thing as a pool algicide is still cheaper than branded Wet and Forget. Both come in at around 100g/Litre concentration so the dilution is the same. Check the concentration though, as I have seen W&F at 99gm/L and also 198gm/L. So to be economic, pool algicide at 99gm/L needs to be significantly less than half the price of W&F if comparing with the 198gm/L concentration.

My supply of BAC comes at 500gm/L and is $36.00 for 5L. There are no mystery ingredients - the active ingredient is just benzalkonium chloride. By the way - BAC doesn't seem to deteriorate over time so going to the trouble of sourcing the raw ingredient at a decent concentration and price pays off because this kind of treatment is rarely a one-off job.

Suggest you brush it on rather than spray - only because BAC is a skin and eye irritant and you stand a better chance of not getting it on or in you by brushing. In concentrated form it is considered teratogenic and mutagenic - both of which have far too many syllables to seem safe.

Thankyou PAFMELB36 for your very detailed reply. I see there are many tips in there like brushing it on instead. Great idea. Being 4ft 11in or 149cm and 73years young and no family around to help reaching will be a problem. Maybe I can use a roller instead. I will ask around at maybe a pool shop and see what they can come up with.

Thanking you so much once again I am very gratefull and look forward to a clean patio roof while sitting outside.

Cheers Maureen.

Wet & Forget how much of this product would we have to use for a 40 by 40 Bowling green?

Dinah
Dinah

Hello Michael. I am wondering if you are confusing the product with something else because this is not for lawn. It is for hard surfaces such as brick paving etc. Or perhaps I am confused and bowling greens are artificial turf. That being the case you would need to check with the manufacturer if you can use it on such a surface. On hard surfaces, you need to use twice the amount recommended on the label.

cheers

Dina
