The control box powers up OL, but when I push start it shuts off?
I have a VX50 4wd that has decided to go backwards more than forwards. Been serviced and otherwise goes well. About 15 years old. Can I do anything to rectify this fault?
The motors are DC, so changing the polarity should achieve that.

You would be best to have it assessed by a technician to determine the fault, but it is likely an issue with the motor block and it would need to be replaced.

My Zodiac VX 50 around 5yrs old RHS wheels and cleaning brush only now works intermittently which has the machine getting stuck in corners and failing to have enough power to climb walls anymore. I'll be honest have not watched the machine alot as it has always done a good job up until now. Is this possibly part of the cycle or is there something I can do to help fix this issue ?
There's a couple of potential failure modes, but most likely gearbox failure, as the gears are nylon and can lose teeth due to temporary blockage or restricted rotation of the wheels. I've noticed that friction builds up on the axles over time for some reason. I might have a spare lying around somewhere, as I did a few repairs in the past.
My Zodiac VX50 4WD is now 5 years old and has just started flipping on its back at the side wall and can't right itself. It's doing it so frequently that it cant complete a pool cleaning style any more. It actually reverses up the wall and flips over - it never used to reverse for no reason before. Given the age, it might be something worn out but nothing obvious sticks out ( no error codes). Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Probably the unit has a sensor to tell it which way up it is(?) This may have failed, but check first with Zodiac (their website has a chat function) to confirm if it does have an orientation senor.

It should come up with an error code before it powers off. If not, power back on and hold the PROG. button down for ~10 secs. It will clear the error. Unplug the unit for 1 minute and restart.
Is this machine any good for Vinyl pools?

Hi I have had my VX50 for about 4 years and used about 1 a month if that after a storm when the MX5 clogs up with bigger leaves. Just used and worked perfectly, tried to give it a follow up on floor only the next day (cleaned out the filter/catcher) and now it turns on for about 15 seconds, starts to clean then the light goes out on the power unit/trolley, assistance much appreciated.
I Have a Vx 50 that has just had its cable replaced, now when it goes up the wall it shuts down then after a few minutes it shows error e01 an stops. I have gone through the trouble shooting and nothing seems to work. any advise . It works intermittently but seems when it takes a jolt on the wall it stops
I'm getting Er:10. I suspect the wires broken between floating cable and cleaner. How can I unplug the floating cable from the cleaner so I can inspect the wires? Thanks Frank
It's the controller unit that needs to be replaced. If you unplug the cable and still get the error 10 code it's the controller not the cable

have had a vx 50 for 3 years . it has been doing a good job. now only one side turns . cant find any obstructions and no error no. coming up . is it cactus ? dennis
Mine has just started to do same , only one side working. Three years old and nothing but trouble with tangled cable.
My vex 50 will start its cycle and then after about 10 min it stops and shows error 10 message. Can anyone help with what may be wrong. Thanks Tino
I've had it for 18 months it has been not too bad but the last few weeks I've noticed it doesn't pick up the dirt like it use to, and it basically just blows it out again from the fan, the pool is always very cloudy after it has been through its cycle., is it time for a new micron filter , do they wear out? Could you let me know how long we should run the zodiac for in an ground concrete pool measuring 22 feet by 11 feet by 4 feet deep (Capacity 27,000 litres)? We have been using the default times of 1 hour 30 minutes for base only and 2 hours 30 minutes for base and walls but these seem to be more than is needed.
I would steer clear of running it for 2 hours 30. The shorter length should be fine. I would also set it to the shorter clean time unless like mine it gets stuck on a step for one third of the cleaning cycle. There is a video from Zodiac on YouTube which says don't put it on wall mode unless necessary. I would suggest this reduces the work-load the motor has to do?
Would like to know if any of the reviewers have jacaranda tree debris in their pool? The long thin brittle stems from, I think that he flower stalks keep the rotating inner wheel on my Hayward cac from working. Would like to know if VX55 would work better without the clogging up.
Not sure about jacarandas but the cleaner works well on gum tree debris including leaves, small bits of twig and gum nuts.

Do you have to use the pool filter as much if you have the zodiac vx50?
Pool filter is still run twice a day in QLD. Cleaner put in and used as required. Not always daily. Depends on weather/wind.

thanks guy for the info i will have to get one as have the old creepy crawly and it is just creepy now now crawly.
i run my filter twice per day, i find i get the best results by doing this
