You're Rolling the Dice Here – I've seen a lot of these units (very popular) and the design and layout is very good - simple and elegant. The problem is the manufacture quality,… Read more
which Rheem don't seem to manage well. On mine the welding on the heater flange is VERY poor, causing it to fail and leak just on the 7 year warranty (I don't think 7 years is awesome for a tank with wires connected to it - I've had gas ones that have done 4 times that). So it's not inherently terrible - if you get one that was made by the good welder it would be great, but how would you know?
Rheem Continuous Flow
I have a Rheem gas continuous flow water heater installed on 18/09/2025. It has worked without any problem until the 24/09/2025. I called the… Read more
plumber, on the 25/09/2025, who installed it and he said to me to unplug it, for few minutes, if I had no hot water. I had to do this operation 4 times between the 25/09/205 and the 30/09/2025 to get hot water again. Unfortunately, to day the 30/09/2025, the Rheem did not start again, and I have not hot water, in a middle of a shower. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with this product ! I am waiting for the visit of the plumber today (30/09/2025) to fix it to be able FINALLY to have a full shower.

Heat Pump. This was recommended and supplied by the Melbourne Heating and Cooling company which is in Pakenham Victoria. The unit works flawlessly and supplies a great amount of hot water. If fully drained it reheats in approx. 4 hours. The crew from Melbourne heating and cooling did a fantastic job replacing our faulty old unit with the new one from Rheem. Especially as it was an urgent replacement due to old one failing. We even managed to receive a hot water rebate in the Victorian Solar Homes Program. Very impressed with both the new hot water system and the company installing it.

case (at least in winter) seems to be around 7am and 7pm - the absolute peak power price - presumably more than offsetting all of the benefits of the solar. Just another maddening example of horrible Australian manufacturing dressed up as something else.

The unit takes way too long to wake up. Hence the money you save on gas storage costs will be spent on water wastage bills.
Ridiculous cost for what it is, obviously marked up according to the "savings" that you are supposed to be banking on gas. Well, let's see how long the thing lasts - it will need to see out the warranty and then some to get the dollars back.
Needs a powerpoint installed - extra $$$...
The biggest gripe is that the unit is simply not fit for purpose. Their claim is that the unit complies with the Australian standard, not exceeding 50 degrees so they set it to 48! I understand this is possibly to allow for ambient variation, but you have got to be kidding me. 48 degrees gives me 47 at the first outlet, about 43 at the last outlet. Our last storage heater gave very nice (50 degree tempered) water at the first outlet and believe me that 3 degrees makes a big difference...

Rheem Solar Loline (Electric Boost)

person water load but failed just after 5 years with solar controller green LED off, and red LED blinking. Electric booster was running and bills went through the roof. System is a Loline with panels on the roof, and tank on the ground. Suspect pump failure as I checked the thermal overload and power supply and all seems fine. Called Rheem call centre and absolute waste of time. They offered a technician to visit and assess the problem which will take 5 minutes on site, and 10 minutes drive each way, so a mere 30 minutes at a cost of $270. The best solar technicians in town have a callout fee (which includes 1 hr on site) for $100 and these guys charge $270 for 30 minutes without even fixing the issue. What audacity after selling me and countless others an absolute LEMON. The call centre then went on to say that after paying $270 for a quick 5 minute assessment of the problem, I will then be given a quote for the actual fix which I expect to cost 2.5 x market rate if they charge people 2.5 x market rate for a basic call out fee. So I told her that I will use the no.1 solar technician in town who charges $100 call out fee including 1 hour of work on site and any basic fixes (this is the standard nationwide anyway). I will not spend 2.5 x market cost on these soul destroying thieves who sell LEMONS that last only a few years in perfect service conditions that other products would last 20 years. At least have the decency to charge market rates for your call out fee rather than RIP OFF $270 for half the time/value compared to others. Thieves is an understatement. Once I fix through a local solar expert, I will gather full details on LEMON products DODGY parts and file a claim through the legal avenues, and also take this further through their complaints team and ombudsman. A product like this deserves a CLASS ACTION.

Rheem Eclipse
Been using this HWS for about a year now. It works well enough for most applications. However There are two main issues we have found with it: 1.… Read more
the unit works optimally when consistent water pressure to it is maintained so any use of cold water elsewhere in the house will mean that there are fluctuations in temperature...mostly not an issue BUT whilst having a shower...not great! 2. same kind of issue in that HW cannot be used elsewhere in the house whilst having a shower as some issue will result in shower.
So unit OK in only limited applications unless you have no probs with shower temperature fluctuating. :-)
