that, according to its own specifications, wasn’t even suitable for decking. Unsurprisingly, the paint began bubbling and peeling just days after the job was finished.

We gave [Name Removed] the opportunity to fix it—he came back, only partially removed the paint, then abruptly decided he didn’t want to take responsibility and left the job incomplete. He also left our property in a complete mess.

We’ve now spent more than double the original cost trying to fix his poor workmanship, and are left with no choice but to initiate a fair trading complaint and legal action to recover the thousands we’ve lost. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone.

dislike painting like I do, then you will struggle to comprehend how Rod and his team display much pride and attention to detail in plying their trade. This time round we had the interior done and OBVIOUSLY requested the same team. Again we had the same quality of workmanship and frankly it was quite a pleasure having them around again the second time. Extremely accommodating to the point that you almost feel as though you're hindering them. Real pro's. P.S. I generally do not wright reviews but was so taken aback by the (these days seemingly rare) professionalism, that I felt compelled to share my experience.

appears! I had my floor-to-ceiling kitchen cabinet doors spray-painted. The job was OK, but the agreed deal was that they would bring them back and reinstall. They employ couriers to do this job. They left the job half done, and the result was that three heavy doors crashed down on my bench within minutes of them leaving. Of course, my calls went unanswered, and I was ghosted for a couple of days. FInally i got a response saying they would come back, but they would charge me. Then, after threats of going to Fair Trade, they said they would come back and have a look and work out a solution. By that time, I had found someone to do the job and really didn't want any further contact with them. I understand they were old cupboards (but wouldn't most cupboard doors be old if they need to be spray painted ?) and perhaps it was a more difficult job to reinstall the doors than anticipated. This should have been discussed and quoted for at the start. To walk away leaving such a potentially dangerous situation is disgraceful and will be reported. I have read elsewhere in reviews that they are charming at first contact, then unreliable after. Avoid this company at all costs

Despite delivering consistent, high-quality work and regularly going the extra mile to salvage poorly managed projects, management has repeatedly ignored my attempts to communicate legitimate concerns.

Higgins once valued its subcontractors and prided itself on fairness. Today, it is clear that profit has taken priority over integrity, safety, and quality. Subcontractors are routinely underpaid compared to what clients are charged, regardless of the skill, equipment, and risk involved in the work. Fair pricing is rarely offered without a fight, and subcontractors are expected to absorb the consequences of misquoting by an inexperienced sales team.

Management’s communication is virtually non-existent unless it’s to shift blame. Safety protocols exist in name only; cutting corners to meet unrealistic sales promises is common. Scopes of work are often incomplete or non-existent, leaving subcontractors vulnerable when inevitable disputes arise. Higgins consistently shields itself by pushing responsibility onto those doing the actual work.

In South Australia, subcontractors are promised steady work and urged to commit fully — only to be cast aside without warning or explanation when convenient. After years of loyalty and countless successful projects, I have been ghosted by Higgins Coatings with zero professional courtesy.

This company is no longer what it once was. Subcontractors considering work with Higgins South Australia should be fully aware of what they are getting into
