found that I can effectively and quickly cook stake, chopps, sausages and chicken breast on this Sandwich Toaster .. I even tried cooking some selected vegetables, it was good but occasionally messy. Recently I purchased this Sunbeam cafe style 6 slice Sandwich Maker / Toaster Grill and Press and it is fabulous. It's much better firstly because it has the control lever that controls how much you compress the food you have placed in it, for example the little 2 slice Sandwich toaster I had stand and hold the top down while the food items were cooking sand sometimes I applied too much weight and then food would squeeze to the hing side or out the front and that made a mess. With this Sunbeam 6 slice you can apply just the right amount of pressure without destroying your meal / creation and gradually adjust that pressure as it cooks and all without anywhere near as much mess as the 2 slice machine. Finally, it is fast, honestly it took all of 5minutes from cold to the ready light to come on and already the chicken breast (cut in half - thickness not the width)was already fully cooked, then clean-up was a paper towel then slightly soapy warm spong then fresh water spong .. tad-dah job completed .. quick, simple, no mess. Good appliance Sunbeam thank you !! The photo was of a closed cheese sandwich and an open cheese sandwich .. it didn't squeeze the cheese out all over the place and leave little to no cheese in the sandwich because of the control lever .. awesome !!

other uses such as egg frying, and is incredibly easy to clean as opposed to ribbed grill of previously owned models. Wipes clean in seconds rather than minutes cleaning each groove. Heats quickly and toasts to perfection... no soggy sandwiches with this purchase. Nice and compact, solid manufacture and cool touch handle. Can't fault this one.

realizing you have to closed the lid with a lot of force, you just need to pre-cut each sliced bread diagonally so that you have triangle shapes to fill your stuff. Hopefully then you should experience with little force when closing the lid knowing that the diagonal border of the sandwich maker is the real hassle thinking that this high hinge engineering solution should fix the thick sandwich problem - but that's only half the solution. That's where your brains have to solve this ridiculous problem simply by cutting them into triangles. I like sliced cheddar cheese with chopped onion sprinkled with beef stock powder to give the toasted sandwiches that beefy cheesy taste while having boiled eggs separately. It's a 4-piece sandwich maker even though 4 sandwiches seems a lot but the water moisture in the bread is greatly reduced when heated and for me, I don't feel I am over-eating the meal. warranty says only 12 months (conveniently). It's disappointing because this wasn't the cheapest option available so we assumed it would last longer than just over one year.

I will never buy another Sunbeam product. Low quality, minimal longevity, it seems like it was designed to break after a year.

Bad Design of Handle and Top Plate – As others have said, these units are bad by design. The floppy handle and hinge results in the top plate never sitting level. I returned mine and bought a Breville BGR250BSS instead.

After first use the "non-stick coating started to come off in small flakes. I'd rather this product be made without the coating. It's easier and safer to degrease yourself. The coating doesn't stop food sticking. Show details

towel. Rubbed more and there was less. Then I thought to look up Eazyclean, the coating that is placed on the hot plates. Is it Teflon? Is it toxic? Difficult to get any info but good to know because I won’t be using it until I’m sure it’s safe to use.

UPDATE took it back and got a replacement as only 2 weeks old Briscoes gave me another one IT IS BETTER but still takes 8-10mins buts thats OK at least the new one does brown a bit better especially the top now is better so happier now ..i agree with others no bread is big enough to seal the sandwiches the bays are too big and it could still do with getting a bit hotter !!
