My Coolabah smoker 4 years old will not stay lit. Burns for a couple of minutes and then goes out. Has done this intermittently in the past but now all the time. It will not stay lit?
The thermocouple or safety solenoid may have failed. Also check the thermocouple is is pointing into the flame.
I'll check. Thank you
Hi- standard 9kg gas bottle doesn't fit- what do you recommend?
Check your gas bottle valve - there’s a new standard that’s come in. Black dials are the new valves, green are the old. The new fitting fits the old and new valves, but the old fitting doesn’t fit the new valve.
Anyone know where I can get hold of a gas bottle that fits this smoker? Was all excited and about to smoke my first batch but can’t now…..can I get a standard BBQ gas regulator put on it?
I cant seem to get the temperature to go below 100 degrees without opening the doors (this is with the vents fully open and the gas on the lowest setting). I want to be able to get to 70-75 degrees to cook beef jerky. Is there a way i can get the temp down without having to open up the doors?
I bought one of these smokers, but the gas fitting does not fit any of my 9kg gas bottles
Cannot seem-to get heat down below 140 f Turned knob to low closed all vents (small opening) Any suggestions ? Also igniter not working using match
Perhaps open the vents to allow more heat to ventilate out to reduce the temperature. Mine takes a few clicks to start but usually gets there, could use a gas lighter if that’s easier. Not a bad unit for the price
Thanks common sense had a senior moment
highest temperature can get inside the chamber?
are the vents supposed to fully close? I built mine but the vents remain slightly open due to position of screw. all 3 vents are the same.
No they are not designed to fully close as it will smother the chips and not smoke
For the money it’s a cracker! It’s heavy on the gas though as it’s hard to get the temp up, so need to run it longer. Otherwise it does the job nicely, bring on the Christmas feasting!
Where do you get a cover for the 2022 model that covers the whole unit ??
you can buy one on amazon - search for Hark smoker cover
Bunnings sells a perfect fitted cover.
Are these still available in Victoria?
Hi, my wife just purchased the glass door smoker for my birthday. Great so here I go this unit looks great I put it all together go to fit the regulator from the smoker to my 9 kg gas bottle but the connection from the regulator will not fit my Australian standard screw-in connection. It looks to be a push-in connector, not a screw in? Should there be another part to use to connect to my bottle or is it the incorrect one from my smoker? I look forward to your reply Michael
Michael the units being sold in Australia after the first of April 2022 have to have a hose and regulator of the new international standard which supercedes the old POL type bottle. Refer to the phone number on the Instruction Manual for the unit.
Does anybody know if you can get spare parts? The brass on/off valve has broken
Yes contact the number on the Instruction Manual
Is the water container below or above the wood chips
Above the wood chip on the side
