Hi like to know can u remove the diesel v6 and fit it's 2l 4 cylinder counterpart

Logic says that it would be physically possible, but the major differences would be in the engine mounts, maybe even subframe, and wiring harnesses. These cars have so many computers, monitors and sensors that are all coded into each other. Best bet would be to ask on aussiefrogs.com but I doubt if anyone there has ever done such a conversion. If they really wanted the 4cyl, they would just get another car with it already.

Ok thxs I asked cause I have engine all running gear including computers from another same model same yr just 4 cylinder

I have recently bought a 2011 Citroën C5 (X7) Comfort, 2-litre turbo diesel with 6speed auto. It runs well. However every time when stopping, it makes a tick-ka noise. I took it back to the dealer but the dealer says it's normal. So before I take it to a mechanic, I would like to know if yours makes similar noise.

And I recently changed fuel filter by myself. During filter change, I drained fuel in the fuel filter housing by opening the drain screw. After that, I tightened the screw fully and later I found out that air is coming in from there. When pressing prime ball, fuel came out through drain horse. This is how I found out that. So I unscrew it a quarter, and this resolved the issue. This is a bit strange to me. Is this a right position? However I still see air bubble in fuel line from time to time. Is it normal?

Hello, congrats on your car. I am not familiar with the kind of noise you describe. The is not really the right forum to ask, we are reviewers, not mechanics. I suggest that you join aussiefrogs.com (free) and post the question there.

Hi, thanks for suggestion. How about air in fuel line? I am wondering if you see air bubble in your car fuel line as shown in the video. external link . It seems to happen after long drive.

C5 2008 6 speed auto 2 litre diesel Difficulty in moving out of park on gear lever The “t bar “ electronics.,the brake switch under car (performs 4 options)I understand and the wiring harness to switch have All been replace but the fault persists. Can anybody suggest where I can look next ? Ross

CeeDee57

That year model could be C5 or X7, both had the 6 speed auto, I do not know if the selector is different. Although I have the X7, I have not had the problem. The gear lever has various pins and cables, some of which get loose, fall out, or stretch. As I understand, it is not too difficult a job to lift the lever boot and investigate, although if the electronics have been replaed then that sounds like it has been done already. Your best source of information will be the local aussiefrogs.com website.

I have recently purchased a second hand 2004 Citroen C5 automatic 4 speed petrol hatchback, (2.0L) that runs great, except it has some interior lighting issues. The illumination for the central console where the clock and temp and fuel mileage guide sits (in the middle of the dash above the radio) does not come on at night. Neither does the illumination for the automatic gear lever. The car has done 59,000km. What can be done to fix this? (I have tried pressing the dimmer button on and off, but this does not illuminate the centre panel nor the gear leaver. ) I had some illumination ( half of the centre console) when I bought the car a month ago, but now does not illuminate at night anymore at all. I recently had some electrical work done on the car (not related to this issue) (two electrical solenoids/diodes? replaced in the gearbox) that were causing the service light to go on in the dash (this has now been fixed) but the illumination issue remains.

Could be a fuse or a dislodged wire/connection. Your best bet is to ask on the aussiefrogs.com website.

I have a 2002 New Zealand new Citroen C5. After about 35kms the anti-pollution warning comes on and the car misses when lightly accelerating. If accelerating heavily it speeda p without missing under heavy acceleration. This happened after a service when the garage changed the spark plugs which i did not ask them to do as the original plugs were fine. Any ideas?

Peter

Hello Wayne, Sorry I can't help as my C5 is a diesel. I think you should try a different spark plug set. I can tell you though, that after I changed my servicing from an authourised dealer my car has never been running better and at lower costs for the services.

Hope you can get your problem resolved quickly and with satisfaction.

Good luck.

Looking yo purchase a 2006 C5 DX HDI

Am I doing the right thing?

Hi rob, I was thinking the same thing when the first c5 was released. I didnt like the look of it but when I saw the facelift I said yes got to have one. I purchased my 2005 diesel tourer 3 yrs ago with no regrets. As I said in my survey the only thing that dissapointed was the continued use of cheap plastic. As most others have said a cheap way to own a luxury car. As for running costs, more favourable than ford or holden although most would say otherwise. If you have a chance to get one do it. Make sure maintenance is up to date if you are buying from a normal dealer. My next one will be either a current C5 diesel tourer or a used C6 diesel. Hope this helped, let us know how you went.

Thanks so much for your input....will let you know how I go.

Now you he decision between the C5 and 06 Peugeot 407 SV or 07 Peugeot 407 ST HDi needs to be made.

It doesn't get any easier I'm afraid.

Thinking of purchasing a citroen C5 and wondering if it was ever involved in an accident whether it could be fixed as quickly as more common cars. In other words, do they hold body panels and most other parts in stock, here is Australia?

Doug14
Doug14

Best ask Citroen John. Only experience was when I asked for a radio fix under warranty and they arrived within days.

Tim
Tim

That would be a question for the distributor and is a good question. I did not have any accidents so I can't comment. Insurance is normal. Consider cam belt replacements and replacing the fluid in the diesel particulate filter as big ticket items as well as the health of the special suspension system.

John151
John151

Thank you for the responses. Will pursue availability of parts (eg body panels) with Citroen. Regarding cam belt replacement and diesel particulate filter, I imagine these are covered in fixed price servicing? I obtained the service costs for the first 6 years from a Citroen dealer and I am fairly sure the service cost quoted included parts.

Would particularly like 2.2 motor - seems to be few of these for sale now (new or near new). You don't happen to know if there will be a new model come out with this motor?

I'm about to replace the front brake pads on my c5 and at $206 for them I don't want to make any mistakes. Is it a difficult job and do I need any special tools?

brian
brian

It's probably better to take the car to a trustworthy honest and reliable braking system specialist such as bendix or reliance brakes as they will check your discs, the callipers and replace the braking fluid oil and re bleeding of the brakes / our old car even though it was a ford fairlane had the brakes at reliance brakes for 600 dollars it was well worth the effort

brian
brian

Though if you know what you are doing and you really want to replace the brake pads yourself you might as well replace them all

pdjones
pdjones

I have had my front discs and pads replaced twice now. They cost about now $300-350 including labor at a good mechanics who knows what he is doing. Careful taking the car to anyone other than a good mechanic. You'll be sorry. They'll charge you heaps more than likely and not do the job properly. The C5 is just a car after all.mthe brakes are great but nothing special.

pierre cx
pierre cx

I did the front pads very similsr to our old mitsubishi magna with front handbrake. The only tool I needed was a piston compressor

I am interested in purchasing a 2011 Citroen C5.There are so few Citroens on Brisbane and Gold Coast roads. Why is this so and is it a wise decision to but one?

Finn
Finn

Hi Why so few on our roads? This is my opinion and I must stress MY OPINION. I hired a little Xsara in 2001 in Europe and was very impressed with comfort level, performance and fuel economy. In 2002 bought a used Xantia 1999 model for my wife. Beautifully appointed car . Pity she has smashed couple of times but does not want to change to anything else. Only problem we have had , and again I must stress, to our own fault ( or the mechanic's) was the hydraulic suspension. Oil levels must be checked at least at service intervals. This is not a problem with later models. . I drive a Nissan X Trail but my next car will definitely be C 5

Hope this helps somewhat.

P S Many years ago one could by a Subaru very cheaply. Why ? The Vehicle was new to our shores as well as the world.

What about Hyundai? Crap,in the 80's ( excuse my french" Look at them now.

My second choice would be I 46 Premium. Also nicely equipped car.

Doug14
Doug14

The lack of C5s on the road is a lack of dealers and marketing.

brian
brian

Possibly because Citroen is not a cheap car nor are the parts are not cheaply manufactured though well built are usually worth it.
