Daikin US7 Questions & Answers
VerifiedOur US7 suddenly started making odd noises. In the manual there is a list of such odd noises with a desription of what they are.
Ours sounded like a herd of donkeys - there's one for that. We had it on the humidity setting. Apparently the solution to getting rid of the donkeys was to open a window.... really?
The fellow that fitted it has been. Reckons the humidity function sends water down into the pipe from the outdoor unit so it gurgles. Solution - he's coming back to blow the line out and reckons the humidity and clean air functions are best not used since they both end up with the same herd of donkeys.
Given it was about 6C outside, which is why we had it on heating, I was not/am not inclined to run it with windows open.
What's the real problem and the real solution Daikin?

I have just found out that my Daikin FTXZ35N does not have a cover on the top of it - it has grey type of filter showing. It was installed 5 years ago and the painter just discovered it and made a comment. Is this normal? or should there be a cover
Hi Gio, good question! The Daikin US7 model isn't meant to have a cover on the top of the unit as this is the air intake. Thanks, Daikin
That’s interesting because my friend has the same model and his has a protective cover on it!
how much power does it use per hour? Pls state your answer for layman to understand. Thank you.
The small 2.5kW (cool) / 3.5kW (heat) uses nominally 420W to cool and 590W to heat. So given 1000W for an hour costs 25c-30c in most places it will heat for 1 hour and 41minutes for 25-30c if it was running flat out. But in reality it might throttle back after 20mins to half output as your house is already warm. Insulation helps - roof, walls sub floor. More info on the Pure Electric website
Have built a 12cubic metre music rehearsal room . It is completly air tight . Will the fresh air function on the US7 be sufficient for a room that size . It will 95% of the time have one occupant. Max 2 people but only for a short time. It is not used for recording so some noise is not a problem thanks
Our room isn’t that big. Can’t honestly answer. Sorry
Thanks for your answer, just though I’d explain the room is very small. 2 mts wide , 3 mts long and 2 mts high. Just incase you may have thought it was 12 square mts which is a big room would perhaps get another opinion. Cheers Joe
Did you end up installing this unit? I’m looking at the same thing. Need it to be quiet with a good fresh air & dehumidifier function.
Hi, yes I did install the unit and am very happy with it . The room as I said is not big so the unit is a bit of an overkill. But saying that it is the only unit on the mar that has a specific function for introducing fresh air. I use the room as an office and a rehearsal room. When I use it as an office generally don’t even need to turn it on as I usually leave the door open . As far as rehearsals it it is priceless. I can sing my lungs of , turn up my backing tracks and set the temperature to a comfortable level and not worry about fresh air or the room getting sweaty and humid. I do not use the room for professional recording so I don’t have any issues with noise level. I run the unit on low settings and have no issues with noise . Depending on what you will be using your room for you would have to take into account the operating noise of the unit. I think it is very acceptable. If you were to use it and were recording I doubt it would be a problem, however it would not be the same as ducted air conditioning that has been designed to keep noise from escaping to the outside. Realistically if you you record a band it would not make any difference. If you were to record vocals you would hear the fan be it slightly and that to would depend on your room design and positioning of the unit. Worst case is just turn it off for sensitive recording situations. I have no regrets installing the unit. The room I built is about 98% soundproof and the unit does not allow any noise to escape. It was well worth it. I hope this reply helps. Am happy to answer any other questions Cheers Joe
Has anyone used the dehumidifier - does it work well and where does the moisture go to?
Daikin 17 series single zone inverter wall mount systems. Anyone know of any problems with them?
Doesn’t sound like an Australian model
Does the 2.5Kw model Coanda have horizontal louvres air flow option as well as the long throws mentioned on the Daikin website?
One review mentioned it makes a noise but another that very quiet. It the indoor unit pretty quiet? The sound rating seems good.
It’s not silent, but it’s not load either I’m happy with unit overall
When operating in 'normal' mode, you are almost unaware of the noise, however, when 'powerful' mode is selected it is fairly noisy. This feature is only selected when you want a rapid result and only operates for about 20 minutes, then normal mode resumes automatically.
I can't imagine anyone would complain about the noise in normal operation.
