Dimplex Ceramic Heater Questions & Answers
VerifiedOurs is the same issue as I can see others are having, a most unhealthy like odour emitting from our DHCERA20E, bought it from The Good Guys less than 12 months ago and never had any use out of it apart from running it for quite a lengthy period in the hope that the smell would dissipate, but no such luck.
Hi Ian, thank you for reaching out, I have reached out to you directly. Thanks
I bought this unit yesterday & there is a very strange chemical factory type odour emitting from the cardboard box & now the unit too. Similar odour occurring from cardboard & products coming from Chinese factories at present. We aired the unit before using for three hours. The heated room smells like the cardboard box & the unit. Very pungent & gave everyone headaches.
The odour gradually goes away. Just purchased a washer/dryer this week similar type of chemical odour. I’m assuming it’s what they make the plastic components of.
Hi Melinda, Thank you for reaching out, yes this can happened after the first use. The smell will dissipate. Thanks
Unfortunately, it is still present & strong
Perhaps, stop manufacturing in China. There is something very strange & concerning within their manufacturing factories in regards to safety control.
Not true, thus unit has been aired, & used for hours. The chemical smell is certainly toxic.
It is the same pungent odour emitting from cardboard, materials, plastics, white goods of recent years. Common denominator Chinese factories.
Thank you, I will reach out to you directly to get some additional information. Thanks
Ours is the same. Bought it from The Good Guys less than 12 months ago and never had any use out of it apart from running it for quite a lengthy period in the hope that the smell would dissipate, but no such luck.
Hi Ian, thank you for reaching out, I will send you a direct message to get some additional information. Thanks
is there a way to keep the display lights off without manually switching the unit off? if not, is there a safe way to cover the lights without it being permanent?
i love that the display lights turn off after some time, as i like to set the timer for an hour as im going to bed without having to worry about getting up. the issue, though, is that once the time is up and it stops running, the light comes back on to show the room temperature... i CANT STAND the bright blue light and there seems to be no button on the remote, so i end up having to get up and switch it off at the back. defeating the purpose of the timer for me.
thanks!
Hi Jazz, thank you for your question. The LCD display light cannot be tuned off manually. Please note as per the manual objects or clothing must not be placed on the heater. Thanks

Hi there, I'd like to set the fan temperature for the Dimplex dhcera20e, but I can't find a set button? The instructions say use the - / + buttons and then 'set' the temperature. What do I click to set please? At the moment I lower the temperature with the - button, it flashes and then returns to the temperature it was. I can't find any details in the manual on this - it just says ''set''?
Hi Sue, Thank you for your question. There is no set button, the display would be showing the current temperature until your desired one is reached. To set: Press the POWER button once to operate in low power (1200W) or twice to operate in high power (2000W). The corresponding low and high power indicator light will illuminate on the control pane To adjust the room temperature, set the desired temperature between 10-35°C. The temperature is set in 1°C increments and will flash on the LED display until selected. The unit will automatically work to reach and maintain the set temperature Thanks
Hi there, thanks for the response, could I clarify how you ‘select’ the desired temperature, please? This is the step I can’t do and the instructions don’t describe what to click to ‘select’ the temperature!
Thanks Sue, you would use the - / + keys to adjust the temperature. Whatever you leave it on is what is selected.
Ok thanks Ruben got it! Best wishes Sue
