Verifiedcost to run heater for 4 hours
You could run a 9KW A/C unit cheaper
what is the cost of running this heater for 4 hours
Our heater has completely stopped operating. It was working fine not long ago then I unplugged the unit for 5-10 minutes to plug in another appliance temporarily & now it won't switch back on. Had it plugged in for 72 hours to ensure the battery was charged but nothing. We did notice on occasions last year that it wouldn't switch on & we had to knock it to get it working. Unfortunately not having any luck doing that now. Had it for several years so assuming it's dead & will have to be thrown out. Any ideas why it won't work?
Hi Maria, Since you have had to knock the heater to get it started it sounds like you must have a loose connection somewhere. If it is past the warranty period perhaps you take it to small electrical appliance repairer in your area to have a look at it.
Does the power light stay on even though it is switched off?
Hello Bumble B Thank you for your enquiry. The power light will remain on until such time that the heater is switched off at the power supply point.
oil is starting to leak out the base - this heater is 4 years old - what happens if all the oil leeks out and can it be repaired?
Hi Gavin
Please note that as a rule, oil filled heaters are a non-serviceable, sealed unit and once the cavity is breached, there is no viable repair available.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Kind regards
Bev
Hi.
I bought two of these heaters but neither of them will turn on.
There is no display, but power is available to the control panel. The light does not come on but I have used a voltage proximity tester.
any ideas?
Hello Bordercollie. If the heater has not been in use for some time, you may find that the cause of the issue, rather than being a faulty unit, may just be a flat resistor. Please charge the resistor/ timer batteries by leaving your product plugged into an active mains power supply for approximately 72 hours prior to turning on the appliance. This will ensure that the resistor is charged to capacity and should enable the unit to produce heat.
Should you find that even after allowing time to charge the unit is still not functional (assuming that the digital display shows that the unit is set to MANUAL mode), if your product is still within the manufacturer’s warranty period, please return your unit to your place of purchase along with your proof of purchase to receive a replacement of the current equivalent.
I have one of these heaps of rubbish, it was only used once and put away for a couple of years as a backup in case I ran out of wood..brought it out and it.will not turn on, what idiot designs a heater that will not turn on because it has a flat battery and has to be recharged every 6 months if not used. I could not believe you had to charge it for 3 days and even after that it doesn't work, so because it's out of warranty I have no other option so I'll send it to the tip...what an absolute waste of money. Dimplex should be ashamed to put their name to these heaters as it appears there are a lot of people with the same problem judging by the comments on here. My mother has one that is 40 years old and still working, mine worked once and that was it.
purchased an dimplex 2400ww portable oil 11 fin heater, and it won't turn on they advised us to plug it in and leave for 72 hours to recharge the batteries did that but still nothing. there are no lights at all coming on. did this happen to anyone else and if so what was the solution?
Hi. My heater is the non-oil Eco model. Sorry, didn't have your problem, either. Seems like you might need to take it back. :-(
Had the same problem... plugged it in... no lights. Was able to set the clock, but nothing else worked. returned it next day... after a little fiddling around, the lights came on. Solution... hit the MODE button multiple times.
I had misread the instructions... (select AUTO or MAN ON by pressing MODE button "until" the required MODE appears).
FINALLY a helpful answer!!! I've been scouring the net trying to find a solution other than throw it away and get a new one. Thanks so much! :)
I bought Dimplex Electric Eco Column Heater OFRC24TIB yesterday and I cant turn it one is there a trick?
Plug it in and bright red light above screen will come on showing you have power. Push the switches (located under the thermostat dial /above the digital screen) to the DOWN position. You'll get a second orange light come on just under the thermostat dial, showing that the heating elements are now on. 1 switch for 1200W, both switches for 2400W. Hope you now get warm... And if not, you've got a dud heater and should take it back!!!
Will there be blue light on all the time when it is on as in the other model, Eco. 1.5kW?
A few reviewers of the latter model said that there is such light, which is OK for serving babies at night! However, I do not like bright light for good sleep.
Kindly confirm.
Thanks,
Kin
My e.mail address is:
Hi Kin, thank you for your question. There are two lights, both red/orange. The smaller one indicates that the heater is working and comes on when the power switch is flicked on to start heating. The second larger one, about the size of a raisin is under the power button and comes on when the thermostat kicks in again to continue heating the room after it has cooled down. I hope this is helpful. Kokoda
