My little dog loves this food, but she vomited a few times and it appeared to be some undigested carrot bits, it seemed really hard almost like plastic. Now half a year later she is having bowel issues, blood drops after passing stools.. again those undigested 'carrot' bits are in it. Which i have never noticed before. My question is what are those carrot looking bits in the food? And why my dog can't digest it? I've been feeding my dog this food for well over a year now but I will be looking for a different food now.

I notice garlic in the dog food will this make my dog sick because since feeding it to her she's been vomiting and feeling off

The vomiting might be related to a different issue with the food. Garlic is consistently listed as a "bad for dogs" ingredient due to the fact that it causes "hemolytic anemia"; meaning it causes damage to red blood cells. Generally I do not rate the quality of this food at all and prefer to feed my own blend of ingredients (after looking into the required balance of ingredients very thoroughly) or if I am in a hurry, then the "Big Dog Barf" alternative. In you case I would change the diet and see a vet if the problem persists beyond another day, as vomiting, if "harmless", is usually self-limiting; meaning once the cause of the problem has been eliminated from the body, the vomiting stops. If not, there might be a more serious, underlying issue.

Hi Chez68, We are sorry to hear your girl has been unwell recently and hope she is recovering. We take all feedback seriously and are here to support our customers. Please reply to our DM with more details, or you can also contact our Petcare team on 1800 732 573 (option 1).

Our products are developed by our skilled Research and Development team that formulate our complete and balanced recipes based on the latest AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) guidelines on nutrition and ingredients. We are confident in the safety of our products as we only include a very small amount of garlic in some of our dog foods for its immune boosting properties and effects in aiding against bacteria and fungi growth. We have ensured the level of garlic included in our foods is far below the doses that safety studies have shown to be dangerous to dogs. We have also sent you a DM with more details and hope this helps. Many thanks, The Doctor B's BARF team

Hello. I would ask your doggy's vet on how much to feed her, and if Barf Combo is appropriate for a dog trying to lose some weight. I hope this helps.

The vet suggested using Barf but reading the box it seems a lot to feed if I followed the suggestions .. thanks for responding.. she loves the food btw

Hi Heather, Great question! Our Doctor B’s BARF is complete and balanced, made with whole fresh ingredients and nothing artificial. It has a high percentage of moisture rich ingredients (such as the meat and vegetable content) which means that pets will typically need a larger volume of this kind of food compared to a traditional kibble/dry food in order to meet their daily nutritional requirements. For dogs on a weight loss program, we suggest reducing the on pack feeding level by up to 20-30%, depending on the amount of weight to be lost and the dogs overall regime. You can find our feeding guides here for our Doctor B’s BARF: external link  If you need any further information on our products you can contact us on 1800 732 573 (option 1) or speak to your attending veterinarian for more specific feeding advice for your pet. We hope this helps!

Hi, I am going away camping for a week and just wanted to see if the DR B’s barf would be safe for my little one being in an esky full of fresh ice 24/7?

JenP

Hi. I guess if it was packed in ice it would be ok. The best scenario would be to keep the pouches frozen until you have to thaw one out.

Would you think my little one would get sick?

Hi Crystal, We recommend storing our Doctor B’s BARF frozen, and thawing in the fridge as needed. Once thawed we recommend using the product within 36 hours. We hope this helps!
