Dune 4WD Stretcher Tent Questions & Answers
I have recently bought a stretcher tent. Easy to use and very comfortable. However one night it raine whole night and in morning could not move my legs. The tent had pooled in the flat top and caused top to sag to the mattress below. Is this a design fault in having a flat top or can it be prevented?
Hi Mark. I don't know if it can be prevented in heavy rain, but firmly tying out both ends, especially the foot end, helps the runoff. Make sure to use sturdy pegs as I've been in very heavy rain where the pegs pulled out of rain-soaked ground and you're back to square one! If you are expecting solid rain overnight. it is better to add some covering like a tarp, awning, gazebo etc.
What is the bed height from the ground?
What is the trick to folding it back up once used
Can you buy just the fly for a dune 4wd stretcher tent? Nothing wrong with the bed but the fly is had it
Wendy, I don't know if they are available separately. Best you contact Anaconda. The similar looking Oztrail unit has a fly available; search for ZZ-202-00070. I don't know if it is a straight swap though and like a lot of spare parts, the price is a large proportion of a discounted complete unit. Peter
Thanks. I did already contact Anaconda & they cannot help me. Looks like I will be buying a complete stretcher tent again.
How has this tent proved itself over the past few months? It is for sale at anaconda right now for $179, I need it for a Australian road trip, and am concerned that it's not a thick canvas it might not make it all the way? But haven't had luck in finding a stretcher swag with canvas instead of this tent material.
After several weekend trips using the stretcher, I'm still happy with the purchase. It is comfortable and very quick to set up and pack down. I've had no issues with the materials failing so far but I am careful with the zips and flywire when folding up. It would be great if someone started making a unit with canvas and an aluminium stretcher base, but expect it to be much more expensive.
external link may have the product you seek. But as Peter said, more expensive.
Steve the kulkyne looks to be a pain to setup as both stretcher and swag have to be assembled every time you use it, is it the same for the dune??
