Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPNs: 214890-01, 300278-01 and 36262389I was very happy to finally buy myself a Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor vacuum cleaner, but after using only twice, I find it is not picking up hair, especially off my rug. I had to brush the rug manually with a brush. We are only two retirees, both with short white hair and this is the hair that is on the carpet/rug. I have the slider about half way and this makes my back very tired. Do you have any suggestions.
Just bought my new Dyson and it is extremely hard to vacuum the carpet, it leaves balls of hair after the pushes. My carpet is very then so not sure why it’s so hard.. please help
Maybe check the head isn’t blocked as that can make hair and dust clog therefore not able to vacuum up and it will just disperse back out always found if you empty after each use and check head helps keep the vacuum working how it should
We are sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties with your Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor. While this machine has been designed to provide great performance across carpets and hard floors, if hair is a problem on your carpets we encourage considering a Dyson with a spinning head and/or a dedicated hard floor tool should you find the Pneumatic head isn't suitable for your home.

I purchased my Dyson cinetic big ball vac in Feb .I am having trouble with the 360 swivel head it keeps clicking out of its place like it is broken it doesn’t seem to lock in . It makes it then impossible to vacuum ,The suction is also extreme and makes it very hard to push on carpet leaving balls of fluff. I do not have pets so no excuse for a lot of hair on my floor, Please advise as I am extremely disappointed
Hi Cindy, thank you for your question and we are sorry to hear this is happening. Please be assured our machines come with a 2 year Dyson guarantee, we'd recommend to reach out to our helpline via phone email or live chat through external link .
In regards to the suction one of our experts will ask you a few questions regarding your flooring and provide you the best resolution moving forward.
I have the Dyson big ball multi floor, when I use it on the timber floors it is leaving a rubber streak everywhere.
It looks like scratches but when I rub it comes away. I can’t really walk around the whole house afterwards rubbing off all the marks. I’ve tried adjusting the suction.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I got Dyson Cinetic Big Ball and used for Carpet, and I am not totally satisfied. Looking at the reviews and comments, I thought I got the right vacuum, but, looks like I got wrong one to use for carpet. This model come with a flat head with blue rubber thing which makes it hard to drag as well.
Any idea, if this is the correct model to use for the carpet or I have to buy another accessories to get it working in carpet?
Hi there, Thank you for your query, we are happy to help. We can confirm all Dyson Cinetic Big Ball machines are suitable for use on carpets and hard floors. The Musclehead of your machine will automatically adjust between the two surfaces. That being said, if you do find the head hard to push, we encourage you to move the red slider on the front of the head away from the "MAX" setting, this should make the machine easier to push.
I hope this helps, however, if we can assist further, please connect with our experts for further support. Our contact details can be found here: external link

I just bought multifloor. I had to hard push the muscle head to carpet. I tried to reduce suction to the lowest but still I feel like I’m dragging the head to the carpet. Does the blue thing on muscle head should be lower or closed in while on carpet? I feel like the blue thing on muscle head is down all the time.
Close it I would think.
Hi Nilesh, Thank you for your email. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble using the MuscleHead on your carpets. So we can best assist, we would kindly ask you to reach out to our Customer Care team. You can find our contact details here: external link

I have a Dyson cinetic big ball multifloor vacumm it is just over 12mths old and a few days ago I was vacumning and there was a yucky smell coming out of the back vents. What would be causing this? How do I get rid of it?
Hi Carissa, We are sorry to hear a smell is coming from your Dyson machine. Should any form of liquid or damp enter the machine, this may cause it to harbour a smell. We recommend carrying out the following steps which may dispel any odour.
After emptying you may rinse the clear bin in cold water as per the instructions in your user guide, ensuring that no detergents are used. Please don't remove the bin seals whilst washing the clear bin and most importantly ensure that the clear bin is completely dry before placing back onto the machine. Please note that the cyclone top assembly, which attaches on top of the bin, must be removed and is not washable.
We also recommend to let the hose, floor tool, bin, cyclone and wand of your machine air out for 24-48 hours, ideally somewhere safe, dry and sunny.
This should help, however if we can assist further, please reach out to our experts for support. Our contact details can be found here: external link

I just received and opened my Dyson Cinetic Big Ball and I am extremely disappointed with the suction. I have to go over the same spot several times and it still doesn’t pick up everything. My old dyson worked way better, but we lost it in a flood and can’t buy the same one anymore! Did I receive a faulty one or is it really just this bad?
Hi Emily, Thank you for your question. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with the suction for your machine. We'd recommend to contact our helpline directly at 1800 239 766 with your machine handy.

I bought my cinetic big ball multi floor Dyson from Harvey Norman in February this year but I've found it to be very disappointing. I've had 2 Dysons previously, an upright and a barrel type and was extremely happy with them. Both easy to empty. I chose this one because there's no need to wash any filter but I think that's just gimmick. This flimsy plastic sliding idea is not good at all. The first time I went to empty this one, the bottom catch gave way and dust and dirt went all over the floor. Each time I have to make very sure it has clicked in properly because it nearly always doesn't. Now the sliding mechanism has become stuck and it is very hard to push it down and then hard to push back up again, (and then make sure the flap has closed properly). I wonder if I should take it back to Harvey Norman. Would they replace the dust cylinder? Or would a new one do the same thing? I've read where others have said the bottom flap doesn't always shut properly.
Hi Jennyette, I have not had any problems with my Dyson vacuum. I generally take out the extended warranty when I purchase goods like this. I know from experience having had problems with a washing machine purchased from Harvey Norman that they are only too happy to assist when problems arise. I would take it back and explain the problems you are having. I am sure they would be only too happy to either have your vacuum repaired or replace it. There is so much competition in the industry that they will want to keep their customers happy. I hope this helps Jennyette and good luck. Regards Jenny
Hi there, Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with the bin on your Cinetic Big Ball machine. We wouldn't expect it to open unexpectedly, nor for it to be hard to open.
You are welcome to contact the store for assistance, however, we are happy to help as well. You can find our contact details here: external link

Thank you, Shan, but I have already rung Dyson and a new canister is being sent. It was obviously a faulty one right from the start. I hope the new one will be normal and I can once again enjoy vacuuming with my Dyson.
I too have found the slide mechanism a little tricky but get there eventually. My gripe would be the so called "hands free" aspect of emptying waste, I regularly have to pull/brush hair out of the outer (silver) filter, if not it would be totally clogged by now. It is also incapable of cleaning my rug of pet hair as my old dc23 did. This is despite assurances from dyson this vac was as good as the old one or better. There is no comparison. There you go, poor design and performance, what has happened to the best vacs ever?
My new canister arrived but it looks like that one is even worse. The push down thing is doesn't even line up with the catch at the bottom to open the flap. I'm too busy to muck around with it at the moment but I think this one will be going back. You're right, this is a very poor designed model and I really wish I hadn't bought it. I bought a 10 lt Work Hero for my shed and have been using that inside. Less than $100 and does a better job than the Dyson.
Before I use the Philip vacuum cleaner $140 but the sucking strength is very strong when I take out the head to use the pipe only but my Dyson Big ball multifloor only has one mode, can not make it stronger and when take the head out to use the pipe only like the Philip, it sucks weakly that the little things can not go in if it's deep enough but the Philip one can. Sometimes the place does not need the head, do you have anything stronger than this and can adjust the speed or the strength of the machine? Thanks.
That i am not so sure im sorry, mine is totally fine though i had no complains with it. I guess it just depends on how powerful u want a vacuum to be as mine is enough to clean those deep dust. There maybe great product s out there that better im sure
Hi Sophia, Thank you for your query. While the motor speed of the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor is set to go at one speed, we don't anticipate you'd have any trouble with the suction. If your machine isn't working as you believe it should, please get in touch with our Dyson Experts via Facebook Messenger, Live Chat or phone, we're keen to help. You can find our contact details here: external link . We look forward to hearing from you and assisting.

Do you use another attachment on it when you take the everyday head off? I like the long flat kind of one to do along my edges etc I find it gets great suction better than just the hose itself because it is a smaller area.
Why do I have to change my Dyson hard floor head to carpet head all the Tim, not happy with my Dyson vacuum cleaner
I'm not sure sorry, I don't have to with mine but have the option to if I want to
Hi Jay, Thanks for your question. The Cinetic Big Ball Multifloor has one head called the Musclehead that automatically adjusts to suit the floor surface. There aren't separate heads for hard floor and carpet for this machine. We are assuming that you might have a different model that has two main heads or that you are having issues with the Musclehead.
So we can discuss your concerns, please get in touch with our Dyson Experts via Facebook Messenger, Live Chat or phone, and our Dyson Experts will be in touch to assist: external link
We look forward to hearing from you.

How do you use the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor on carpet? A recent purchase that can’t be moved across carpet easily, the store won’t return money because they say it has been opened. Hopefully there is a solution
The head on my vacuum has a little foot operated pedal when changing from hard floor to carpet
Hi Martin, The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor comes with the Musclehead that automatically adjusts between carpets and hard floors. If you are finding it is hard to use, please slide the slider on the front of the head away from the "MAX" setting. This should make it easier to use.
If you continue to experience difficulty, please get in touch with our Dyson Experts via Facebook Messenger, Live Chat or phone and we will only be happy to help. You can find our contact details here: external link

Is there an adaptor for Cinetic big ball multi floor to fit a DC19Y attachments there was one in the box but doesn't fit DC19Y attachments?
Hi Kathy, Thank you for your question. The adaptor that comes in the box is designed to allow some previous model tools to be used on your new machine. The DC19 had quite a unique connection and unfortunately this and all adaptors will not allow you to use the tools on your Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Multifloor, apologies for any disappointment.

I have a cinetic big ball Dyson multifloor but I do not know if the blue part on the musclehead is supposed be down while doing timber flooring or up. Anyone?
Hi there, Thanks for your question. The purple seal around the underside of the musclehead floor tool should be in a down position when the machine is switched on and the floor tool is on a hard floor surface, it should retract upwards when on carpet. Please note that you can also adjust the suction using the 2 red sliders on the top of the head.
Please note that the suction needs to be going through the head for it to be able to adjust.
If you need further assistance please get in touch with our Dyson Experts via Facebook Messenger, Live Chat or phone. You can find our contact details here: external link and we will be more than happy to help.

We recently purchased a Big Ball Multi Floor. It is difficult to push on the carpet even with the suction adjustment on the head at minimum.
My wife was able to use our old turbo head with no problem, but she will struggle with this new vacuum.
Please advise a fix or, alternatively, state Dyson's policy regarding refund/replacement under "fit for use" provisions?
Thanks,
Keith
Hi Keith, I have found the same thing. Hard floors are great but carpet is more awkward. I've found if you don't push as hard and angle the vacuum it becomes a bit less resistant. I also use the motorised head from the car cleaning kit which is so much better. I'd contact Dyson directly and state your problem. They are always very reasonable.
Thanks for that Lynne. I will contact Dyson today.
Hi Keith, Thank you for reaching out. Sorry to hear about this, please do reach out to us and we will be more than happy to help. Our Dyson Experts can be reached on 1800 239 766 Monday - Friday 8 am - 8 pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30 am - 4 pm EDST.

Thank you for your response. I am now in contact with Maggie at Customer Support and she is looking at ways to resolve the problem.
As a follow up to this, I have been in contact with Dyson Australia, and have received an immediate friendly positive response. Maggie at Dyson support has arranged a replacement Multifloor attachment.
I will post a follow up when the new part arrives and is tested.
Whatever happens from here, I’m confident that Dyson will work willingly to solve the problem.
