Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute + Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPNs: 226420-01 and 363389-01After a few months I needed a whole new cyclone!. Fixing it yourself with old arthritic hands virtually impossible. Now the dust only collects on one side of the canister. why? I have washed and cleaned everything via YouTube videos. I find the help line not good enough. Is there ever anywhere you can take it to get looked at. I will never buy another, too hard to clean, fix and expensive. Recommended other brands please
My v10 is allowing debris to pass above the max fill line and it is collecting in the top half of the bin, not the bottom. I keep getting the blockage light and the machine pulses. It does this even when I’ve just emptied it. How do I stop debris collecting in the top half of the bin ? The bottom half has none in it!
Why does the dust in the canister seem to go to one side rather than spread out evenly throughout the canister?
Since the length of time that the battery is operational is an issue .. are you able to use a heavy duty extension cord plugged into theV10 that will continue charging while the machine is in use? Thus extending the battery life?
Dyson v10 surging filter blockage flashing then stops. Have cleaned the filter, emptied the unit fully checked for blockages blown the unit clean with compressed air. Replaced filter after washing and with no attachments connected still surging filter blockage flashing then stops. The unit is fully charged. Any ideas on the issue.
I removed the bowl completely, blew out with compressed air but needed to get a skewer up inside the areas beside the main hole and pick out some compressed dust - it wouldn’t come out without doing this and may be due to vacuuming the odd damp area making the dust compact.
Thought that myself at first have inspected with a camera not the issue
Understanding you have checked the machine for blockages, we would encourage viewing this video to ensure all areas of the machine have been checked: external link If the difficulty continues, please get in touch with our Dyson Experts who are only happy to help. Had viewed that youtube and others, read many entries on this issue in the end to clean any further I would have to pull the unit apart. The only common thing on the unit was the filter. Bought a NEW FILTER put on the unit this FIXED the PROBLEM. DYSON must know this and should be telling the public this and would save face and a lot of bad press.
We have the same issue, bought new filters but each one lasts less than 1 minute before they need cleaning again. Abandoning a very expensive dyson to move to a new brand now.
When emptying my Dyson the whole barrel comes off. Help please.

I’d like to know why there aren’t any instructions for individual attachments included when I bought my v10 absolute + brand new. Instead I have to go looking online each time I want to use an attachment to know which to use. Would be good to have had a hard copy within the box at purchase to refer to. Im Still none the wiser even after looking online.

great vacuum cleaner except for the battery life flat after 10 to 15 minutes of use had v6 and v8 before this and battery life was way better thinking of changing to a better one any suggestions
The v10 battery lasts way longer. Only things is all the faults.
V10 battery is great. Entire house except for 3 rooms and there’s no need to charge the battery.
The V10 has three modes of suction; Max, mode two and mode one. With the motorised head attached the machine will provide up to 35 minutes on mode one, 20 minutes on mode two and 5 minutes on Max. Without using a motorised tool it can run up to 60 minutes on mode one, 30 minutes on mode two and 5 minutes on Max.
You can find a video explaining these modes and how to switch between them on external link .
Should we be able to assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via external link and happy to help.
When the Max button is selected, the machine pulses. No pulse once switched done to the lower setting. Filter cleaned, no blockages. Any ideas?
It’ll be the filter at the top, take it out clean it and put it back.
If your machine is making a pusling sound, this indicates an obstruction within the airways of the machine. Understanding you have checked for blockages, we encourage running through this video to ensure all areas of the machine have been checked: external link
This should help, however if we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via https://m.me/DysonAustralia and happy to help. Alternatively, reach out to Dyson Australia using our other methods of contact, here: external link
My Dyson V10 was pulsing & stopping , the filter light was flashing , I cleaned the filter & put it back after 24hours but it’s still doing the same ?
How long is the battery expectancy of the V10 compared to the V8?
I do not about the V8 but Dyson told me, that the battery should last many years and by then a replacement battery should be available.
Batteries are a consumable item which suffer wear and tear through usage, therefore will eventally need to be replaced. The factors affect the battery longevity which varies amongst users and therefore we can't provide an expected life of the battery.

How does dust container open....it seems like I would have to force it or am I missing something? Thanks
It's OK! I have put a lot more force in moving red lever down and it worked. Just very stiff. Thanks anyway.
My main head doesn't appear to be spinning. From what I can see there is hair jammed on the inside of the barrel. Please help?
The roller head can be detached with a coin to clean hair etc. Dyson have instructional videos for most v10 maintenance on their youtube channel
Hi Aaron, I have done that. It is inside the roller (if that makes sense). It doesn’t appear to be spinning when I put the head back together...

My dyson V10 Absolute is just over 1 year old and now it suddenly gets very hot when I am using it. I feel the heat is coming from the filter area as I can feel it on my hand when holding the maching. Takes only seconds for me to feel it hot. Is there something I can do to resolve the problem or should I be intouch with Dyson to fix?

I have this problem too. It seems to release if you pull up on the red handle before pushing down.
After my new V10 Dyson is fully charged how long will it hold the charge for???? Before having to recharge???? Cheers Teresa
Always leave connected to the dock when not in use.
Unfortunately being in an apartment we could only fix to a wall that is not near a power point and don’t want an extension cord continually attached???
Your Dyson V10 has smart electronics within the machine, battery and charger to ensure the machine won't overcharge. Dyson recommend to leave the machine on charge when not in use, even if you haven't fully used the battery. Off charge, the machine will be in standby, ready for use and will slowly loose charge, however we can't provide a timeframe of how long the machine will remain charged off the charger.
We hope this helps, however if we can assist further our Dyson Experts are available via external link and happy to assist.
Tk you we have moved it... Cheers Teresa
Our V10 appears to be working normally but the filter light is constantly illuminated. We have two filters which we alternate ever few weeks. After a filter has been washed it has at least two weeks to dry before it is used again. The filter light illuminates when either clean and dry filter is attached to the V10 head. The V10 is about a year old,
