I have owned an Electrolux EQBL156AS for the last 10 years and have never been able to get the plate sizzling hot , so I tried a few things: 1. I reported this too Electrolux when new and they sent a gasfitter out to change the jet sizes to make the flame bigger , which didn't work and gasfitter said the burners are too far away from the cooking surface. 2. Removed the SS cooking plates and replaced with cast iron hoping that once hot the heat will be retained , this worked , staying hot part , however you have to have the burners running for approx. 40 minutes to get some heat in so the steak sears not broils. 3. Has anyone found a resolution for this issue ? 4. Different issue , Igniter has stopped working , new battery , compartment cleaned , but still no go. Please help

Sorry that's a EQBL100AS not a EQBL156AS

Hi Manny I find that wind/breeze has a major effect on getting it up to temperature. I close my bbq shed doors for first 10 mins. Makes a helluva difference. Had the same issue with starter. Gave up fixing it and used an extended fire starter clicker thing . Quick and easy Earlier this year I bought a new 6 burner model . Fantastic machine. Suggest you dump the old one and upgrade

Thanks Ross. I won't be going Electrolux , may look at Tucker Horizon. Only 70mm from plate to gas tube. BBQ is out of the wind in an enclosed outdoor kitchen cabinet.

Yep the 4 igniters stopped working all at the same time - solution? I have tried new battery, cleaning the base plate for the battery with metho and then spraying with WD40 (a solution suggested by an earlier post) to no avail. The BBQ is protected from the weather. Has anyone got a possible solution as such a common issue with the Electrolux 100 4 burner bench top BBQ?

The starters have stopped working - all at the same time. How do I access the batteries?, or whatever mechanism there is that fires the electric starters please.

Hi, we are having the same issue as Simon. Ie Electrolux branded BBQ, won’t start, cover doesn’t protect the knobs etc. I called Electrolux to try and arrange a service but the customer support person did not have any idea about BBQs. Can you please let me know who I should contact? Thanks,

I have had my electrolux branded version of this bbq for 5 years. The beefeater rebranding must have occured soon after. I also had a failed starter within months because of rain. The starter was replaced promptly - as I can read here now it was a known problem. I bought the vinyl cover that goes with the bbq which has mostly fixed the problem. After 5 years of regular use its a bit temperamental though. I have to unscrew it when not in use so it doesn't continually spark. So I need to replace the starter. The vinyl on the cover is now deteriorated from being in the weather to the extent that I need a new cover. Unfortunately the "new" cover doesn't extend to protect the nobs and starter. Can I get the "old" version that does? If I can't, then do you sell a cover just for the starter and nobs? Is there some-one who can come out and clean/service this bbq, replace the starter and bring an adequate cover? It is otherwise a pretty good barbeque.

My bbq has worked for 7 years since installation. Now none of the igniters work. I have tried to replace the AA battery without success. Can you suggest where the problem is and how to fix it, or have fixed?

Also as noted above the Aluminium hot plate hardly gets hot enough to cook a steak. Would a cast iron plate improve the heat? Is it possible to replace the grill which is very difficult to clean

Gidday Stuart I had the same igniter issue twice and fixed it easy , twice . My problem was the positive end of the battery compartment got dirty with fat via steam / heat whatever . I couldn’t see the contamination, but I used a cotton bud soaked in meths , swabbed the positive plate , then sprayed it with WD40 . Worked like a charm . My plate is steel and cooks very well . BUT , on a windy or cold night it struggles a bit . But all I have to do is close the cabana doors and it’s fine . Try sheltering the barbecue . In NZ if you use swappa bottle ( gas ) you generally get poor quality gas that produces a lot less heat . I now get my bottles refilled with genuine propane . Made a huge improvement . The grills are easy to clean . Take them out , wire brush them , spray them with oven cleaner and bung them in the dishwasher . I stick them in the dishwasher with the fat tray and the heating shelves every time I cook . Keeps it up to scratch for a couple of years then I strip the entire machine and give it a birthday. I reckon this barbecue is brilliant . Cheers Ross Fitchett

Ages ago I had issues getting the plate got enough to cook a steak. Electrolux send a gas fitter around who fitted bigger jets which helped a little but according to the fitter the issue is the burners are too far away from the plate hence heat can’t be sustained on the SS plate. I hardly cook with this bbq because of that reason. I may try a cast iron plate if one is still available.

We have Electrolux built in barbecue EQBH100AS and are currently renovating our outdoor area and have decided that if at all possible we would like to put existing unit into a mobile stainless steel cupboard with additional shelf (drop down ) Is there such a product available ? Thanks .

I have just finished cleaning my BBQ. Now the gas will not come through and light. The spark is there but no gas. Is there a way the gas can be turned off within the BBQ itself?

Hi Just purchased a Signature Proline 6 burner with lid (BSL156SA). Can you advise what clearance is needed from the front, back and sides of a standard joinery cabinet?. Also can i use reconstructed stone top?

Hi i bought this BBQ years ago and had it professionally cleaned last week and the guy asked me where my drip tray was. I told him i never got one and didn't realise that at the time. Probably why its been leaking fat for all these years into my cabinetry its built into. Is it possible to supply me with one of these please. If it was meant to be included i would expect it to be free of charge but if it wasn't and considered an additional purchase then i am happy to pay for it - what ever was meant to be the case originally i am comfortable with. Also my ignition button stopped working a few years ago. Its not the battery - can you tell me the cost of a new piece for that as well please?

BBQ has been great bar these two minor issues BTW and its eight years old now and still going strong.

I brought this bbq $1750 cheap is there anyone out that has used for a few years and still thinks it is very good. Best ever. All ive heard it it is a shocker dont buy. i have not used yet and cant take back half price stock clearance sale.

Have had it for 9 years and great as long as you can get the starters to keep working. Had to have mine replaced each year, as it was not really made for outdoor use. I did make up a box to go over the nobs which prevented rain getting in and this did help. Otherwise it works fine. I eventually gave up and bought a long flexible nozzle igniter and I climb underneath the bench and light it through the air access holes.
