Agreed. It smelled initially, and the smell got worse over time to attach flies

It didn’t catch any, I don’t think it’s the thing they’d like. It stinks. Honestly I don’t think this as good a product as I first thought. It seems to bring more flies. While it does kill the flies it doesn’t reduce the amount hanging around.

Are you actually using the (Enviro) safe Brand of refills as I once purchased ,I think it was the Buzz Brand Disposable fly trap and found it didn't seem to work as well as the Enviro safe brand . I also pop the lid shut and give a little shake to ensure the liquid is dispersed right up around the neck of the bottle to help attract the flies . Also follow all instructions (EG) use a little hot water to help granules properly dissolve . Hope this helps.

Have to agree with you. Original trap and bait worked extremely well. 3 refill pack was different colour . Caught very few flys. Contacted envirosafe, assured nothing had been changed. But its definitely not working like the original.

Six months to get an answer which doesn’t answer my question and I only use Envirosafe but will probably not use it this summer if I can’t get a satisfactory reply Olly Oleszek

I still haven’t got an answer and I thought I’d give it another go six weeks ago my opinion now it’s rubbish and a waste of money out of five traps there would be no more than twenty flies there doesn’t seem to be any smell after it changes colour from green to blue to finally black You have now definitely lost a customer

I either swirl them back down into the mixture, if I'm motivated or just let them escape. What are they going to do? Be eaten by other critters or die.

Give it a swirl every now and then and make sure the liquid outweighs the flies that are trapped.

Sorry but I haven't read the instructions in years. I pour the contents into the jar and fill it with water to just over half way which would be more than half a cup. Mine are hung that the are in sunlight so there is evaporation of water and have found that the solution catches just as many flies

why would a native bee be attracted to the smell of rotting meat?

Been using them for years and it has never attracted a bee. Only ever seen flies attracted to it.

My joint was infested because of the neighbours dairy herd. When it was bad a couple months back, emptied daily, now roughly weekly. I tip it into the compost (home compost not council one). They really stink to attract the flies so if you are going to bin the contents you should double bag it or you are going to gag at the smell of your bin after a few days.

Empty down the toilet works well - wash out in hot water then refill with the refill kit from Bunnings

We have a problem with disposal of the hundreds of flies too! Not sure what to do with them as we are near dairy cattle in semi-rural area and we were heavily infested with flies recently, so I had three of these at our doors - two at the back door and one at the laundry door! But they do smell badly once they start to fill, and we had no idea how to dispose of the flies as we have pets and thought they may dig up and get sick! We do have a compost bin, so may try that as someone suggested, or the toilet another suggestion, or triple wrap on day of garbage collection maybe better option! Thank you all for suggestions here!

It is a foodsafe product in the dry form but with the decomposing flies that is a different aspext totally rinse out pets mouth

I suspect this product has a bee attractant.... My son tipped the garden one over and now we have thousands of bees nestled on the gound where it spilt. I have had a bee guy out twice ... Cant seem to wash the pheromones away

When dig further into the product safety notes which took ages to find it said not to be tipped out near animals eg dogs or chickens... I believe the same bacteria that nearly killed my 3 dogs could possibly kill chickens put it this way it makes animals extremely sick. Not worth the psychological trauma of losing your chooks to find out .... I’m still traumatised after this horrible experience Nik

not to sure, you will have to check with manufacture and read chemical break down on the fluid

Why would you even consider feeding rotting flies/ maghots to your chickens.??

Gday, When I've emptied this on multiple occasions I have noticed no Bees in the container. Come to think of it I haven't seen a wasp either. But that could be from having none in my area.

Thanks Josh - do you have bees in the area? Just that I have 6 bee hives that will be near by.

You can use the same traps with a DIFFERENT attractant designed for wasps. The fly attractant will not attract wasps.

Yes yes yes, it attracts bees, just emptied mine after one week and have approx 30% bees, 40% flies and the rest is native bees and some bug. It just attracts anything that's hungry, thirsty or plain old curious. The bonus is it keeps the maggots alive that the dying fly has laid, they turn blue like the water! Then crawl out of the holes to become a happy fly.... just disgusting.

So if you know anyone who loves the smell of a dead cow, this is the product for their Christmas stocking. He he he he

I have recently bought replacement attractants and know what you are talking about. Although it hasn’t turned red, it quickly lost colour and has stopped working after two days. Considering the cost of the 3 pack replacements, this is an expensive disappointment.

I have the same problem, I can’t work out what’s causing it but once the liquid turns red flies simply aren’t interested. Any advice would be appreciated, Bunnings couldn’t help, otherwise as above it’s a waste of money

The recommendation is to put these in direct sunlight. However, I'm not good at following directions - I hung it under the pergola in the shade and it doesn't get UV damage & become brittle. Also, don't screw the lid on too tight. And it still works fine - catching heaps of flies even in the shade.

Mark, I have had the same problem but discovered that Sanitarium peanut butter jars have the same thread and, since we like this peanut butter, there are always replacments available for the jar itself. Lids can be placed on full jars for disposal.
