Hi, I am new to feeding raw mince to cats. Does your mince steak and the mince steak and chicken require freezing for a few days prior to feeding to kill bacteria? as is recommended by the breeder of my cat. Cheers, Helen.

Georgi W. · Dry Cat Food

Has there been a change to the salmon or the chicken biscuits? We recently (1-2 months) started mixing the salmon bickies with the chicken to help with joints, and now all 3 of our cats are losing weight quickly and one of them is vomiting semi regularly. This is really concerning?!?

Hi Georgi, We're sorry to hear your cats have experienced some digestive disturbances recently and are sorry we missed this message initially. Why is Fussy Cat food no longer grain free? It was the best affordable option and now my cat can't eat it.

Fussy Cat
Fussy Cat   DM

Hi Susannah Our Fussy Cat dry food range (in the white packaging) remains grain-free, and we've recently updated the packaging to state “grain-free” on the back label. Along with this change we’ve made a few minor recipe updates, including switching tapioca for lentils which are a fibre-rich, low-fat ingredient that helps support satiety and overall wellbeing. Please note, our Fussy Cat Luxe dry foods (in the black packaging) are not grain-free. As always, we recommend checking the updated label and following our transition guide when making any dietary changes. Feel free to call us on 1800 732 573 (option 4) if you'd like more info! I’m pretty sure, the soya bean is causing my cat to get diarrhoea, which l read is a high allergen for a lot of cats

I was thinking it might be the lentils but the soya bean makes sense!

Our 2 Ragdoll brothers are 21/2 years old and for 2 of those years have eaten fussy Cat chicken mince every day. Recently bought a whole lot from Coles anc they look pale and spongy and not pink - more like beige!! Neither of them will touch the new food and I notice that this week the mince has the same beige look. What to do? They don’t like any other wet food and we’ve wasted so much money on trying new stuff. You must have altered your recipe and they hate it, please ho back to your original recipe.

Hi NetSource, Thanks for leaving us your feedback and we're sorry to hear your boys are avoiding their usual favourite Fussy Cat mince. We haven’t made any changes to the recipe, but we’ve reached out to you privately to better understand what’s happened and ensure you're supported. The Fussy Cat Team

Thank you for your reply If you haven’t changed the recipe then I can only think it has something to do with how Coles store the product prior to putting it on the shelves- they seem to be the only source of this food now as every Woolworths store I’ve looked at no longer has it available? Is there somewhere else I could get a fresh supply to try the cats on it again?

Does this come in bags larger than 450grams? We have six cats (2× 7yrs, 3x17yrs and 1x18yrs). This is the only cookies that they will eat without any problems.

Fussy Cat
Fussy Cat   DM

Hi Shirley-Ann, We’re so glad to hear your six cats are loving our Fussy Cat Kitten dry food! At the moment, 450g is the largest bag size available in this particular flavour. However, we do offer a 2.5kg bag in three other flavours, which might be a more convenient option if your cats enjoy them. We’ll be sure to share your feedback with our team, as we’re always reviewing our range and pack sizes. If there’s anything else we can help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Has the recipe of the blue grain free bag (salmon & oceanfish) changed? I've also noticed the biscuits are a smaller size yet no indication on the bag of the change? This has severely impacted my very fussy, very sensitive cat.

J S.
J S.

When the manufacturer replied to me they said nothing had changed and the size variation was a natural change to ingredients. It looks like a different 50% smaller biscuit and our 2 cats pick out the larger original bits out and leave the smaller ones. I’ve bought the smaller bags which still seem to have the normal sized biscuits with the original flavour. They will probably change to the new taste/ size biscuits eventually as well unfortunately.

My dear feline companion has been fortunate enough not to have had any side effects from your prime steak mince but given the feedback from above, in particular, the 220 preservative, potential red dye, and the terrible vomiting experienced by other cats, along with your less than adequate replies, I won't be feeding my girl any more of this stuff.

Ann
Ann

I have come to the conclusion that I should be looking for pet food stores selling fresh organic it’s only less convenient and .not portioned and not able to easily get when supermarket shopping. However they can’t be taking the pet’s welfare into account only their agenda and the affects make it apparent. I agree with you’re comment makes you feel bad that I ever fed it to my cat.

Hi DPC, thank you for your comment. We are pet owners too and take the quality and safety of our products very seriously. Hi Irene that particular type Salmon and steak of fussy cat my cat would never eat but always ate the others for almost three years then started vomiting ( this way in March 23) and was suddenly repulsed by it I had some in the freezer and tried a month later and the cat wouldn’t touch it again. I contacted fussy cat I didn’t think to keep the barcode serial number I always check the use by date in the store as sometimes the stores sell it when it is almost expired and 5 portions won’t go beyond the use by date. Another thing I was thinking that perhaps they had first frozen it and then I did?? Also the use by date is written underneath the packet and only on one portion so I used that one last. I am having trouble feeding my cat now as she likes and can only eat fresh meat as she gets blood in her stools with packet and tin food and the vet said she’s just is one of those cats with IBS. She’s eating fresh chicken mince now but won’t have it mixed with steak??!! I wish that they had 5 portion packs with that as it’s too expensive the other way and I asked that to the makers of fussy cat because the chicken mince they make is not chunky is a good texture.

Lyn S.

Thank you, I will be following your advice.I didn't see any use by date but it may have been on the sectioned used and that part of the package was binned..

Why is there suddenly raw pork as an ingredient? Cas are not supposed to have pork?

Fussy Cat
Fussy Cat   DM

Hi Stephanie, Our Prime Steak Mince fresh meat products have always included Pork as a protein source, in addition to Chicken, Beef & Lamb to ensure variety. We include pork in our range of fresh meat recipes as it is a great source of protein and naturally high in amino acids such as taurine, and thiamine which is an essential vitamin cats require in their diets. We hope this information helps. Many thanks, The Fussy Cat team

Me to, my cat has started vomiting of late. The blue bag was the ONE AND ONLYkibble she could tolerate, now I'm in serious trouble. She's been vomiting quite badly in last few weeks. It's what triggered me to google the question of a possible ingredient change. What is the actual change that's bee made??. I am now faced with a huge decision on my cat, as the blue bag was the ONLY KIBBLE IN THE SUPERMARKET SHE COULD TOLERATE . YES, IM SAD, AND ANGRY...WHY CHANGE A GOOD THING. . she may have to be euthanasia now.

Hi Tammy, Unfortunately, our Fussy Cat Grainfree dry foods are not specifically formulated for cats that have medical conditions such as diabetes. Although these products are grainfree, they will still contain carbohydrates which may need to be taken into consideration in an animal with diabetes. If you haven’t already, we’d recommend you speak further with your attending veterinarian as they are in the best position to advise if our Fussy Cat dry foods are suitable for your feline family member.
