Gasmate Adventurer Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: G2727How do you get the control knobs off a adventurer deluxe 2 burner portable BBQ
Did anyone have a response/answer in regards to the question - After the control knob, at the end of the fixed / solid pipe where it connects to the BBQ there is a gap where gas is injected into the BBQ, looks bizarre, like gas could be going anywhere. Gasmate representatives can you kindly advise or should this not be used anymore?
Hi Dan, Yes this gap whilst it looks very unusual, is actually normal. This is the air mix collar that the unit requires to have the correct amount of oxygen drawn into the burner to mix with the gas in order to create your nice blue flame. Gas won't leak out of here, and in fact if you blocked that hole up you will notice the flames turn an ugly yellow colour. I hope this helps.
Perfect thank you
But why is it unique to this model only? It’s not been seen on my previous bbqs and it’s a little alarming to have the smell of gas leeching out near the burner!
Why is there a gap near the regulator on the side of bbq.?
I'd say it's to let air flow in. That's my guess.
Haw to connecting gas cylinder...in sri lanka
Can this bbq be run off your typical gas bottle?
Yes it can mate, it should of come with a hose connection to attach to your gas bottle.
There's a gap where you screw the regulator into the BBQ is this normal?
I'm not quite sure what you mean?
Are you talking about the steel pipe with the Hi and low undjustment regulator that screws into the side of the BBQ? If so what gap and how big is it?
Hi Elizabeth. I was worried about this too. After the control knob, at the end of the fixed / solid pipe where it connects to the BBQ there is a gap where gas is injected into the BBQ, looks bizarre, like gas could be going anywhere. We can't prove any gas is coming out by lighting it but I wonder if this why there are so many complaints about the heat not being high enough.
Strangely i can't find one picture on the internet or in the manual of the piece we're talking about - its like they don't want you to see it
Ellen
The gap is about 1 -1.5cm long and 0.5 cm wide in the pipe. The metal at that point only goes round about half of the tube.
I've changed my profile pic to be a picture of the gap.
Did you sort your problem out. Mine is exactly the same so I guess it is normal . I haven't used mine for that reason. I looked on the internet asked at bbqs galore and Bunnings no one can give me a positive answer.
Mine is exactly the same so I guess it is normal. I haven't used mine for that reason. I've been to bbqs galore and Bunnings and asked the question if it was safe and no one can give me a answer. ? ???
Hey guus need help i have this bbq bought second hand but dont have the attachment for the gas or pipe where can i buy the bit that attaches to the bbq?
Try going to BBQ galore or any BBQ suplies place and they should be able to sort you out.
EBay would be a cheaper option.
I'm confused with the canisters don't you still need to connect the hose that holds the regulator to BBQ and canister to regulator for it to work or are you saying just connect canisters(without the supplied connector ) straight to BBQ sorry if this is strange question
You need to connect the canister to the supplied regulator.
Not a strange question at all - we were confused at first too! No, you don't need the hose at all - just connect straight to the regulator. You can't use the small butane canisters that you can get at Big W, KMart etc, but a propane canister which screws on to the regulator. We go ours from Bunnings, but Mitre 10, masters etc should all have them. Also we got the propane canister from the tradies section & were told that they have a hotter heat, that's why the tradies use them. Hope that helps!
Yes Thanks you
What is the type of regulator that i need to buy to fit on the side of the gasmate to screw a canaster into it?
Hi there,
I didn't need to buy any extra regulators. It came supplied with all that's needed.
The regulator is already attached to the bbq - normally (when using the larger LPG bottles), you would then screw the hose supplied to the regulator & then attach to the LPG bottle, but when attaching to the canisters, you just skip the hose part & screw the canister on directly to the regulator. Please note that you cannot attach the small disposable Butane canisters that you can purchase from Big W, KMart etc, but you need to go to a shop like Bunnings/Mitre 10 or such and purchase Propane canisters & if you purchase the ones that the tradies use, then you will get a hotter heat. Hope that helps :) http://www.productreview.com.au/p/gasmate-g2727.html
The description says that this bbq is suppose to take the small propane canisters, but can't see where these go. Only seems to have fittings to attach a larger gas bottle. Can someone help me please?
There's a fitting that scred onto the BBQ. It has a control knob on it to control the gas flow.
yes there is a hose and fitting to go on a gas bottle but the advert states it can connect to a bottle OR a disposable canister. I can not see where a disposable canister can fit
Hi mate, A canister won't work, same way this BBQ won't cook anything, don't bother its rubbish !
Got in touch with the place we purchased the bbq from & they have advised that the portable disposable canisters screw direct into the bottom of the regulator (don't over tighten it) - no need to use the supplied hose at all. Will try & will let you all know how we go!
We had actually been looking at the disposable butane canisters. This BBQ actually fits to the portable/disposable Propane canisters (& of course your usual LPG larger bottles). These do screw to the bottom of the regulator (skip the hose). We went to our local Bunnings & they advised to purchase the Propane canisters that the tradies use as they give a hotter heat, which we did. Very happy with the result! Yes, we had to leave the setting on high, but cooked our meats etc to perfection :)
Seriously buy the $20 stove from Kmart, big W or camp store that uses the gas canisters you'll get better performance for your money.
