We are down the south coast on holidays. Unfortunately our elderly dog has taken a turn for the worst- needs to be euthenaised- bit there is no Greencross vet clinic nearby. All are over 1.5hrs away . ( petrol crisis etc) Does Greencross vets have some partners on more rural areas that could help / so we can use our membership to help pay for the service?

Greencross Vets
Greencross Vets   DM

Hi Michelle, Thank you so much for reaching out, and I’m truly sorry to hear that your beloved dog has taken a turn for the worse. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you, especially while you’re away from home. As I’m not sure of your exact location, you can find a list of our partnering emergency clinics here: external link  Healthy Pets Plus is exclusive to Greencross Vets and our Animal Referral & Emergency Network (AREN) clinics. Unfortunately, these are the only locations where the Healthy Pets Plus emergency discount can be applied. I’m really sorry we can’t offer more flexibility in this situation, and I do hope you’re able to find support close by during this incredibly hard time. Please know our thoughts are with you and your pet. Kind Regards, The Healthy Pets Plus Team

Is there a discount for desexing with the healthy pets plus membership?

Greencross Vets
Greencross Vets   DM

Hi Ellie, There isn't a direct discount associated with Desexing however you will receive 10% as this falls into our discount on all other products and services. If there is a pre-anesthetic blood test required prior to desexing, this is included with your Healthy Pets Plus membership and would not be charged, provided you haven't already used this benefit.

When signing up for 12 months and my pet dies before the 12 month period, do I still pay for the full 12 months?

Gaby

This happened to me and the remaining months were refunded to me when my pet died but I had to speak to someone about it at my vet. It didn't happen automatically.

Hi Cynthia,

If you sign up and your pet passes away generally the clinic will note it on your file to confirm this has happened and we will cancel your membership with no further fees payable.

How do I actually login to my Healthy Pets Plus membership please? I find it ridiculous that U cant login somewhere to at the very least see my pets history, vaccination record etc, payment record, and so I can update my payment method? I recently had to cancel my debit card due to it being lost/stolen and URGENTLY need to update my payment method. I CANNOT afford dishonour fees for missing my $45 monthly payment, when it is ENTIRELY out of my control that I cant update my payment method, as there is no physical way to login to my account myself and di so, plus you guys have extrenely high phine call and wmail volumes and cant aswet me

I also would like to know how to login and review my pet's history, get copy invoices, and records of purchases. Right now I am trying to see the different pet food products I have tried over the years.

Hi, I am about to adopt a 9 year old cat from a shelter so I have been looking around for vets in my area and came across the Healthy Pets Plus program. It sounds good but I have some questions. If anyone can help me out it would be really helpful:

1. How does "Unlimited veterinary consultations and advise" work, i.e., is there a discount or is it free consult if it finishes within 20 mins? 2. Annuals health screening, tests, etc - do members get a discount? It isn't quite clear in the terms and conditions... 3. Are all vaccinations, as recommended by the vet, free? Is there an exclusion list? 4. Dental checks - the $200 discount is a great plus point for me. How much (est. price range) does a typical dental check cost at Greencross Vets for a 9 year old cat? 5. If I sign up for this and use Greencross Vets as the main vet, but does not use the emergency hospital partners (SASH is less than 10 mins away from me and I know this won't be free consult), can the records be easily shared... like, do I get a PDF or email of the record after every consult so that I can bring to SASH in the event of an emergency or can I ask Greencross Vets to write a referral to SASH in the event my cat needs to see a specialist? I am asking so that I know what to expect with regards to logistics on my end in the event of emergencies and illnesses.

Sorry for the long one, I want to be a responsible cat owner and I need more details to see if this program will work for my circumstances. Thanks!!!

Greencross Vets
Greencross Vets   DM

Hi Rachel, 1. It is a free consult with a vet. You do not have to pay for this consult unless you agree to additional services (e.g. X-rays) or purchases (e.g. medications), or if it is a special type of consult (e.g. behavioural consultation) that requires specialist expertise or runs >20mins- but you will be told about this when you book the appointment. Follow-up consultations and WebVet are also included free of charge, plus emergency consults at Greencross partner hospitals are free or discounted (within certain times and as listed on the Greencross website). 2. Annual health screenings are free. They include a free blood test (annual wellness screening test or a pre-anaesthetic blood test), plus a free heartworm test, plus a free parasite faecal test, plus a free urinalysis test. These are ideal to set a baseline for wellness (i.e. measuring levels when your cat is healthy to allow us to monitor their health over time by comparing back to those original levels), or can be bundled into a procedure (e.g. blood test before a dental scale and polish). 3. All core vaccinations are included for free (C3, C4, C5, C7, KC for dogs, F3, F4, F5, FIV for cats). This basically means that the vaccines a vet recommends pets get every year are free. Exclusions include things like export vaccinations. However, best to ask your Greencross Vet to confirm what's right for your pet. 4. Dental checks are also included for free, and the vet will be able to give you an estimated cost during this consult. The level of plaque, whether extractions are required, etc will all influence the price of the procedure, and so there is not really a 'typical' cost per pet.

How much will it cost me to have my 9yo Springers teeth cleaned? I realise he will have sedation. What will I pay after discount? We are members of Healthy Pets

Greencross Vets
Greencross Vets   DM

Hi Annab, You will need to contact your local clinic to find out pricing regarding the teeth cleaning however as a Healthy Pets Plus member you do receive $200 off for a dental scale and polish so this should be deducted from your total cost.

You are welcome to contact your local clinic and they should be able to tell you what it would generally cost with your discount.

Kind Regards, Bonnie

In the T&Cs it says membership covers "Pet dental checks with $200 off annual dental scale and polish"

However, it also says that fees do not cover sedation ... However a dental scale and clean often requires anaesthetic - would that mean that sedation costs are not considered part of dental scale & polish?

Nadine
Nadine

Hi Jabbie, I’ve recently had my cats teeth cleaned. My total bill included $200 off as part of the pet care plan. I think it encourages us, as their owners, to have their teeth checked and if needs be, surgery. Oral health is so important as it definitely has a major impact on our pets overall wellbeing. Saving $ towards the total bill gives me peace of mind & my cat is feeling a whole lot better :)

jabbie
jabbie

Thanks Nadine, appreciate the feedback :) Did yours have to be sedated? What grade of teeth was it for (mine is an adopted older cat who'll need dental clean for Grade 3 so will likely need to be under anaesthetic)? Were you happy with the costs?

Annie D.
Annie D.

From memory, my dog dental clean procedure with anaesthetic was around $340. I believe its somewhere around the $500 mark for non members. His teeth & breath was much better for roughly 2 years since & he will be returning again for his second cleaning in Summer as his breath beginning to smell bad with one of his teeth being built up again.

Hi. I'm thinking about signing up to Healthy Pets Plus but am a little concerned with the cancellation fee that I have read people are being stung with. How much is this fee as there is no information on this in the brochure I received from my local vet?

Cass W.
Cass W.

It's no different to getting a gym membership. You sign up for a year. If you cancel prior to that year, there are costs. However, my cat went missing and after he was missing for a month, the membership was cancelled with no exit fees. When he returned after missing for two months they immediately reinstated it for me with no joining fee. If you take them for their vaccination, yearly blood test and a regular wellness check - you have pretty much gotten your money's worth. Most of these poor reviews seem to be more about the vets/vet nurses they have dealt with rather than Healthy Pets Plus itself.

Thank you. I went into my local green cross and they had answered all my questions and decided to sign up :)

I signed up for Healthy Pets Plus yesterday at a Greencross vets. One of the key selling points to me was that emergency consults were also covered. It wasn't until I got home to find out that there are no emergency vets available in NSW, let alone Sydney. If this is being sold by a vet in a state where part of the service is not available, surely there is some obligation to advise this in the advertising material? You assume if it states "only at participating emergency vets" that there would at least be one available in the state? I just find this incredibly misleading.

Thank you for your feedback, We have passed this on to the relevant channels for review. We are always investigating opportunities for emergency clinics. The Greencross Team

Cass W.
Cass W.

Our emergency clinic was 2 hours away. We didn't have time, unfortunately, to risk the drive with our cat and we were out of pocket for the emergency consult fees at a local veterinary clinic. However, there was way more to his treatment than an emergency consult and he required 2 days (over the weekend) at a clinic so we would have had similar costs anyway (less the consultation fees). The Greencross Vet still saw him as an emergency patient - at no cost even though his membership had been cancelled due to being missing - it was only that it was 5 mins from closing time for the weekend that they were unable to keep him because they couldn't provide the round the clock care he required. Personally, the rest of the care they provided more than made his membership (and the membership of our other 4 pets) more than worth it. What really matters is if you're happy with your local Greencross vet - but the Healthy Pets Plus has just been a godsend for us even though we couldn't access the emergency consult.
