My 2005 adventra has a clunking when changing down coming to lights dropping back to 2nd then to 1st. It doesn't when going up through the gears. The mechanic noticed that the drive shaft rubber was flexing, replacing them thinking that the sloppiness was causing the problem.Instead the clunking was still there but now with a vibration as you drive down the road which it didn't have before. Could this be diff or transmission, how would you know?
Hey mate same issue. Any luck finding the issue?
Yeh mine does it to i was told it is engine mounts, i've bought them but haven't changed them yet
Trac off error on dash . Won't start. Any ideas?
Hi does anyone know if a VZ Commodore door will fit the VZ adventra?
I have a 05 vz adventure cx8 with 97 thousand km on it it is in excellent condition I was wondering what price i should put on it? thank you
That depends on where you live and what the same models with similar kms go for! Here in NZ they are dirt cheap because no one wants the V8s but in Oz it's all dependent on what state you're in and what the market is dictating. Just google same models with similar mileage to give you an idea.
Hi Steve. Have a look at Car sales website. I might be interested if you could send a few photos, location etc to 0400682231. I have a 65 yr old work colleague interested in buying one.
Rob
Need to kno. About fuel reading need to reset it I acidentley halved it thro OBD meter
Watch this video and reset the fault code via settings. ( external link ) and this one ( external link ) You cycle the mode button as the guy said until you see the fuel calibrate function and enter that function then you should be able to correct it again.
I have a 2005 lx6 adventra that I am looking to replace the engine with a new one. Which Holden engines are compatible with this vehicle and can I get one new? Thanks David
The best engine to replace it with is the same type as came out of the vehicle as there are many other things to consider if you change the engine type! Such as wiring looms, computers, transmissions, driveshafts etc etc. Generally it's easier repairing what you have and then changing vehicles(i.e. upgrade to the V8 Adventra). In Many parts of Oz you need to consider also emission laws when changing engines and certification of modifications all of which cost extra! So either a rebuilt V6 of the same type or a second hand one to replace the original is your best bet. With the V6 engines make sure the timing chain has been replaced before committing to another one! It might even work out cheaper to rebuild the one you have! You'll have to do some research into pricing as to your options where you are!
That's what I thought but I wanted to ask to check. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Hey I have a 06 cx6 vz adventra. Lately it's started making a horrible whine Frome the gearbox after it shifts itself into 3rd its starting to get louder any idea what's going on?
Hi the gearbox sounds tired. Has the oil and filter been changed as a first and cheaper test? There is a Facebook page for Adventras - probably best to post the question there. Sorry cant remember the address - best you search for it.
"Hammer" further down this page has the Facebook page description
I am wanting to lift a crewman cross 8. Does anyone know how high I can go and what is available to lift it?
Best go to a suspension specialist for options. But bear in mind you are changing drive and steering angles - the tyre contact angle with the road will change. For example I dropped my Adventra by an inch and had some issues with steering arm clearances and tyre wear. The front end also got noisey. The Adventra has spacers under the body which others have removed when they dropped it - not sure about the cross 8 set up. This could really affect your safety and could be illegal as a modification, so again check with a really knowledgable suspension specialist or a really good mechanic or similar.
Hi all. I have a 2005 Adventra CX6. Are the rear brake pads and rotors the same as the VZ Comodore? I've been told the front are but I'm unsure about the rear.
Hi Dave, as far as I am aware the front rotors a bigger and the rears I am sure are exactly the same in everyway as the VY-VZ Commodore.
I hope this helps.
Thanks so much for that!!
Can anyone tell me how to change the transmission fluid and filter. I know they don't have a dip stick which is weird I can't even find where to top up or fill it. Help..
Yes the Gen3 V8's like mine have a dip stick. Do you have a owners handbook as it should tell you how to check you Automatic Fluid level.
hi can someone tell me which way the oil filter bung goes left or right it is not budging and i dont want to put the pressure the wrong way.
What car do you have? My 05 adventra unscrews anti clockwise.
what grade oil is used in the Adventra transfer case?
I had to wait almost a month to get the oil as I was told that it has a Mercedes transfer case or built by them not sure but at that time I was in Townsville and they said there was none available and I was going to have to wait, its the only oil that I was told i could use
I have a vz awd adventra and cross 8 my rear wheel r facing inwards from the bottom what could it b
It could be something to do with the wheel alignment. I would be seeking advice from Holden first, or a wheel/tyre specialist and then shop around for someone to do the adjustment/repairs at the price you are happy with.
Sorry that I couldn't have been of more help
You'll need to contact a tyre/wheel alignment specialist.

I'm not sure but if you join the above Face Book group (copy and paste the link supplied above), you WILL get the correct answer.
Is it expensive or a big deal to fix a rear drive shaft bearing on a adventra v2 sx6? Its only done 170000ks why would it go?
The reasons for rear drive shaft bearings to fail are many and varied. Keeping your wheels balanced and ensuring that your shock absorbers are in good condition certainly helps to reduce damage from vibration. Overloading and corrugated roads are also a major contributor.
I would expect many of the driveline components in most cars to start failing above 170,000km. If one bearing has failed, I would be inclined to replace them all at the same time. I would also have the centre bearing and rear shock absorbers replaced, all wheels balanced and a four wheel alignment done. That way you can spread the labour cost across a number of maintenance items. You should get a few quotes from some mechanics before getting anyone to do the work.
You will be surprised at the range of quotes from workshops in your area. At a guess I would probably budget about $1,500.
