Honda CR-V RM (2012-2016) Questions & Answers
VerifiedOn occasions my remote control won’t work & have been unable to lock my car. On returning to the vehicle sometimes only 15 minutes later find the accessories, interior & side lights all on. The auto electrician & Honda dealership can’t find anything wrong.
Wow sounds like a nuisance problem, the best people that have direct access to Honda are the car dealers, specially the one where you get your car serviced. I have contacted Honda direct and they keep palming me off to the dealers. So keep hassling them and ask them for solutions, maybe to reprogram or replace your remote control. Good luck!
Many thanks will follow it up
Hi. I'm curious about Honda CR-V DTi-L Limited Edition 4wd Auto with 1.6 turbodiesel & ZF 9 Speed auto. Has anyone reviewed it? I heard the 9 speed auto itself has bad reliability. I haven't heard anything much about the known problem specifically for that version.
Does anyone facing AC problems in 2016 CRV...we are facing cooling issue along with bad smell from the AC slots.... is anyone aware of this??
Why does my 2015 CRV continue to fail to start even after new battery replacement and continued dealership service assessment that the vehicle is ok but I am the one that keeps getting stuck with a car that fails to start. The vehicle cannot be relied on.
the top half of the drivers seat has bent back and can't get it to straighten up
Replacement tyres for 2015 CR-V 4WD?
Does anyone have recommendations to limit road noise for blacktop only driving?
Hi! What sorts of l/km you got on your brand new crv? I had the vehicle for a week and it's consuming 13.7 l/km. Might be just because most trips are just short trips <3kms to the mall, hospital and daycare. Does your fuel economy improve over time? I have a 4wd crv.
My CRV is a 2WD, the fuel economy on the dash display went down over the first 100km (if your just going off the electronic display window then it may not be accurate, I double checked when I fuelled up vs the amount of km's I had travelled).
Hey,
My honda crv is a fuel guzzler, they all are. I would say thats normal :)
Depends where and how you drive and over what period you are are driving. If you've had it for a week and only doing the short distances you quote - I doubt if you've even used a full tank. The number on the dashboard dispaly is variable - it adjusts to driving speed etc approx every couple of minutes. Look at it immediately after you've filled up - first reading could be 48l/km the second 16, the third less and so on. Fill up at service station at the top of a big hill, and (with an automatic), foot off the accelerator you'd record something like 5l/100km by the time you reached the bottom.
I've had 2013 CRV 4WD since new and over all conditions - country runs and peak hour (in Perth it's hardly worthy of the name compared to Sydney and Melbourne) it averages 8.7l/100km. On a drive north to Geraldton (about 440kms) I can achieve around 7l/100kms at an average speed of a tad over 100km/hr.
Coming back - same road - 9l/100 - the difference is the prevailing wind (not the vehicle) coming of the Indian Ocean. Fuel consumption is a combination of the vehicle's engine efficiency, road and weather conditions and driver efficiency - the last being the least efficient!
Thanks Bill. Your reply is insightful. I just had my 1 mo service and they told they upgraded some software but noted they can't find any fault on the car. I'll wait and see if it gets better. On my usual routine, i can usually consume a full tank in 3 weeks.
For urban use, around 13.5 Ltrs/100Kms is normal. When the next gen model gets a CVT except to knock off around 2 Ltrs/100Kms off that number.
Hi Jaeb777 I've just read this thread and am curious about the fuel economy you are getting now? I believe I have major issues with my CR-V (bought mid 2016 brand new). I get 380kms to a tank with an average fuel consumption of 13.45l/100km (this number is generated of a GPS tracking app on my phone that gets used when I drive the car). Originally, I was getting 450kms+ from a tank for the first 6ish months of driving the car however my driving has not changed.
The dealership have been testing my car for some months and believe that there is no issue with it because after the last test runs, they drove the car in ECO mode and got 567km from the tank with 8.7l/100km. Does anyone actually drive with the ECO mode on? I was told by the sales guy to never drive with it on as it takes so much power out of the car.
Thanks :)
I find my standard day to day driving in my 2015 CR-V VTI-L series 2 4WD 2.4L is about 9.4L to 10.3L depending on how much aircon and stop / start I’m doing. The only time I have gotten around the 8L mark is when I was on the highway driving SYD > MEL with Eco on, aircon off, and cruise control on.
I only fill up with V-Power 98 and have done since car was brand new. Helps me get a tick over 500k’s per tank.
Hi! Got my crv vtis last Friday. Was disappointed to see that the headlights are made of plastic, looks flimsy. My 2013 civic is made of glass. Could you please confirm this please if this is the same with yours?
Yep,
Their plastic.
Honda are skimping on quality
Thanks james! What badge did uou get! I thought that the delearship switched some parts. Plastic headlights not good. It flexes when I pit preasure ontp to ot.
Plastic is better and less chance to shatter easily in an event of a car crash so my advice is be happy the vehicle itself is safe and working properly - that's mainly what's important for you and your passengers
Thanks Brian. It's just the first time I had a Honda with a plastic headlight lens on, so I'm just checking. That's the reason I always have my front-end protected with headlights and bonnet protectors including this one.
Thai built CRVs are not all that well made and the materials quality is also on the cheap side. Overall, for the price they are not too bad to be fair. The biggest quality issues for me have been in poor panel and trim alignment and that Honda fits a cheap battery... mine died after 2.5 years. Best install a 550CCA plus quality battery when it dies or if you don't want to get caught out, replace it right away.
Does anyone know where the trunk release is in the CRV II 2015 VTiL ADAS model? Can't find the button anywhere or on the immobiliser. The boot is heavy to lift and apparently I have to put everything down to get into it!?
One thing I didn't think to check when I was buying the car was the remote boot release. I was replacing a 10 year old Honda Accord Euro that had both a lever at the drivers seat and a button on the key. I figured that it would at least have a lever and/or a button, as I too got the 2015 Series II VTI-L ADAS with ALL of the available options. The ad for the CRV showed not just remote powered tailgate, but touch free powered tailgate. On my first service, I took it back to Larke Hoskins (where I purchased it) and they informed me that powered tailgate feature was despec'd for the AU market and the ad I saw was the CRV released for the US market.
Honda Australia get your shizz together. Demand better spec models for the AU market, then you might catch up to Mazda with sales.
What on earth were they thinking?!? How ridiculous!!
Hi! I'm just wondering about the space on the rear seats. Could you fit two child seats and adult? Is it wide enough? Thanks!
Yes the back seats space can fit 2 child seats also one more person in the middle but only if the person is under certain size. Like medium female size person.
I was able to fit 3 6 foot men in the back seat and they all said that it was roomy enough without being too squishy. Also there is the specific car seat slots on both the left and right back seats.
Thank you for your replies! I got my 4wd vtis already. It'll be delivered on Friday!:-)
How often should fuel injectors be clean on a 2014 crv?
I'm not sure - you may have to ask Honda Australia that question
Has anyone had any problems with the manual 2015 CRV shuddering / vibrating at idle?
2015 should still be under warranty. Bring it back to the dealer and have it checked.
Haven't yet purchased the crv just reading lots about the autos shuddering / vibrating (Honda have a press release on youtube for the CVT engines).
Wondering the same for the automatic version. Can't find anything about it on NZ pages. However, all vibration complaints are on US pages. Maybe they made them somewhere else?
We drive a 2013 model CRV-S (auto). Same vibration issue when idle at lights around 600rpn. Very worrying.... Honda dealer denying issue, but I've recorded it numerous times. Vehicle still under warranty but dealer playing games (Honda South Yarra).
It really feels uncomfortable when the vibration is felt in the drivers & passengers seats. I did not buy the Honda CRV expecting vibrating seats!
I feel that Honda and many dealers know this but are keeping this quiet.
Will be selling ours.... Have had enough! Honda, never again. I feel many more owners in OZ will start to speak out soon.....
Will stick with the old Toyota with 220.000km and running without one issue to date.....
Purchased the 2015 series 2 MANUAL crv. With 1500km on the clock no shudder/vibration thus far!
