Does any one have a 2.2 turbo diesel powered Grandeur?

We are looking to buy one (a 2008 model) which had been a taxi and now has 500,000 kms on the clock. It's been a single owner since new and has been meticulously looked after, to the point that it looks and sounds like a vehicle which might have done 500 kms, rather than 5000k.

What I'm keen to learn, is if anyone else has a really high mileage (km ) of the same 2.2 turbo diesel engine and what troubles they might have had with it. The guy selling it says its had not required any thing serious and so has had nothing done to it, except one rear shock absorber (& no, it only needed one, not two). ALL bells and whistles are working perfectly & when he said that, (my cobber who has worked in the auto trade for 38 years) & I checked things out during a road test and sure enough, everything was honky-dory. Extraordinary I reckon and I sure wasn't expecting that passing comment, to be that factual! We couldn't fault the vehicle, other than a small bit of carpet wear (approx 40mm square under his heal, which will be covered by a rubber mat.

SO.... if anyone has the same vehicle, I'm keen to hear /read of your experiences and possible problems which might have developed.

Many thanks and wishing all,...... safe travels. Cheers

What I'm also keen to know, is the engine oil type and grade that is recommended by Hyundai.

We have an LPG dedicated 2008 Grandeur. On start up it seems to take a while to fire but once started she runs sweet...is this because the lpg drains away at night and takes a while to pump back up to the engine or do i have some sort of problem. thanks.

You could try asking hyandai or you could get someone in the passenger seat to time on a freeway if the cops see they might try to give a fine so it's better not to worry about too much if it's not a safety issue

My 3.3 can do 7 seconds, roughly.
