Latex Mattress Australia Latex Mattress Topper Questions & Answers
VerifiedI’ve bought three king mattresses in the last five years totally over 9000 buck and very reputable brands. Nothing compares to an old Slumberland Linden mattress we owned, which is now unavailable. I believe it was latex (mostly). The recent mattress we bought is medium but I’m used to a firm- just can’t do firm anymore with the last two being tooooo hard. So my question is, do the toppers come in different comfort levels? If so, would a firm one be ok on a medium mattress? Partner would kill me if I bought another mattress and the last topper I bought was way too soft…we couldn’t move.
Whilst we can't comment on other companies mattress densities. Our toppers are made from soft density latex, 5 cm plus cover. All toppers have seven zones. Latex is buoyant and will conform to your body however, you will not sink in like memory foam which has chemicals which heat up, 10 year warranty. Voted Australia's favourite topper on product review. Machine washable cover made from tencel.
I just brought an Emma mattress and that was way to hard for me inducing pins and needles as well as setting off my periformis syndrome. Fast forward we ended up getting a new mattress Bc7 plush from original mattress factory. We have paired it with a motion base. Whilst very comfortable at around 3-4am I wake up with pelvis pain. It is minimal but it does wake me. Relieved with neurofen. Would a latex topper help? We have a long single. Should I be looking for a firmer latex rather than a plush
My question is, does this mattress topper move, once on the bed. I see that it is not anchored, no bedslip to hold it fitm?
i was a bit worried about that too, but so far it has been ok. It is quite heavy! The fitted top sheet holds it in place fairly well. I noticed that it moved a little to one side last time i changed sheets, but i just tweaked it back.
Thank you. How have you found the topper? I am suffering with hip ache during the night and I wake very stiff and sore, which is sad as out mattress is only 6 months old.
Can you have a latex topper underneath an electric blanket? (We're in Sydney, so heat setting would be no higher than 3 out of 10, ie low-ish)

We just received this lovely review on our Google profile from a customer for the topper:
-- Shay Five Stars - 18 hours ago We had purchased a supposedly good quality Queen OrthoKinetic Grandeur (Support version) innerspring mattress on a huge mattress sale for $1750 from AMART Cairns, after 12-18mths I noticed I was actually getting slight hip soreness which was a first for me! I was also waking up with tingling hands, and struggling with a sore lower back daily, I thought I must be just getting old. I slept at my sisters place one weekend visit and wow when i got up from a good night sleep and no lower back soreness from her old spare bed I said what's the secret? She said she'd recently put a latex topper on from latexmattress.com.au. That was it for me, I ordered mine for our bed and it arrived quickly well packed, the first night was a good night of every night to date I had/have no back pain!!! This was a saviour as I was about to buy a new mattress and put this pile of expensive garbage in the spare room. I did a fair amount of research for one outside her recommendation and loved the fact these guys were A) Australian made and owned B) Made in QLD C) A good price for quality product with good reviews backing it & bonus with a zip to wash it if needed. Thanks team, I rarely review anything but this item more than just a money saver, good nights sleeps are priceless, can highly recommend."

Will a topper be helpful if my mattress is too soft? I bought i high quality soft mattress 3 years ago, and I’m recently waking up with terrible back pain as my lower back isn’t being supported well.
Hi Abby, thanks for getting in touch. A topper is designed to provide a softer layer of comfort to a mattress, so unfortunately won't make a soft mattress more firm. A topper follows the natural structure of your mattress, so it won’t fix sagging, indentations or softness.
HI Abby, I would probably think how soft your mattress is could be a factor. If you call the company and explain they maybe able to help you. I know if a person's mattress has a deep dip in the middle, a topper will end up picking part of that dip up when you lay on it. Give them a call they are very helpful.
I am being woken up during the nigh with hip pain as I am a side sleeper. I have recently purchased a plush mattress but still getting some pain, though not as bad as with my old mattress. What do you recommend to help stop the hip pain? Is it just a topper or also the pillow?
You need to have a pillow in between your knees to help keep your hips and spine aligned properly. A firmer topper or matress could help as u won't sink in as much
Hip pain can be caused by a mattress being too firm or being too soft - as both can impact your spine and back alignment. Too soft because you're sinking in and your body has to try and keep it's self straight whereas a mattress that is too firm can cause pins and needles as it impacts circulation and doesn't conform to the natural curves of your body. We would recommend talking to one of our sleep specialists who can discuss your current sleeping arrangements and make recommendations to help you get a great night's sleep.
How do I go about having one of these discussions with your sleep specialists? Thanks
Hi Debra, please give us a call on 1300 759 859 or private message us your contact details and I can organise for someone to call you at a time that suits you.
Hi. I bought a latex mattress 7 years ago. It’s very comfortable but so hot to sleep on that I haven’t been able to use it. It has a gel infused layer built into the top of the mattress which makes no difference. Would this topper be the same?
Hi Lani, Latex is naturally cooler because of the cell properties that make up latex. They allow air to flow more than a foam style mattress. Gel infused are cooler initially but as as your body lays on the mattress it too will warm up to match your body temperature. While latex is cooler, sitting it on top of the gel layer will lessen it's ability for air to flow. It will still have air flow across the top and side of the topper.
Thank you for your response

I bought a bed with a very expensive soft mattress, but I now suffer from sciatica and the bed is no longer suitable. I was wondering whether a firm mattress topper would be worthwhile buying to alleviate the problem or whether I should just cut my losses and buy a new mattress? Does anyone have any advice please?
Hi sciatica sufferer, a topper will take the form of the mattress underneath so if the mattress is dipping due to softness, you will find with time your topper will take the same shape. Toppers work well on firm mattresses as they add softness while still keeping the support you need.
Is There a Single Bed Topper - Size please
I presume so, why not ask the company?

Wondering if this would be a suitable addition to a very old/worn out mattress which doesn't provide great support anymore?
No, I think it would just follow the contours that have formed in it. Get a new mattress either full latex, or put on top of a flat one. We put ours over a mattress bought from Ikea 2 years ago, base was OK, but their topper was a disaster, good for about 12 months tops.
Hi Tom, M. Jones is correct that if you have contours on your mattress a latex topper will follow the formed contours. But if your mattress is very firm and you're looking to add a support layer/comfort then a latex topper would be a good option.
