Mazda CX-7 Questions & Answers
Are the people who are having issues with the CX-7? Is it mainly with the turbo engine? Is there much going wrong with the CX-7 classic with the non-turbo engine?
I accidentally put 87 octane in my tank, when I noticed filled the other 3/8 with high octane. Should I just cyphon it out?
Does anyone know how to access the 4WD features of this car? as it is in the name.
My friend has put petrol in my cx7 instead of diesel! Is there a way I can drain it?
Can I put 91 unleaded in my Mazda 2006 turbo CX7 ? Will it hurt it at all ?
I wouldn’t as the turbo is really finicky if you know what I mean. 98 is recommended but nothing under 95. We ran ours on 95 and put a tank of 98 through every few months.
So mixing the 95 and the 98 won't cause no damage ?
Does the cx7 have a timing belt and when should that be changed?
Yes it does and all timing belts regardless of car should be changed every 100,000 kms
No, it has a timing chain on the CX-7. The timing chain in a car should generally last the life of the car if maintained, however on this engine there is a common fault of the timing chain stretching, faulty VVT and subsequent catastrophic engine failure. I am up for mine, at least $2000 to repair not including the water pump which should be replaced at the same time. This is such a common issue that some mechanics specifically advertise CX-7 timing chain and turbo repairs. If it sounds like a diesel, or has a rough start and idle, it's up for a timing chain and VVT valve replacement.
Thanks for that Steve. It’s as quiet as a mouse

How many km for manual car drivinf full tank?
Road testers exposed the CX-7 to a range of driving environments and returned 15-17L/100km; not great but OK for an 1800kg, turbocharged carry-all.
its not a great car for fuel efficiency, even though the engine configuration and turbocharging should on paper make it economical. its really terrible i average 21L and i drive like grandma. if you drive this car daily for work commute the fuel will kill you especially with premium unleaded fuel.
looking at buying 2006 mazda cx7 petrol can anyone tell me the klms per lt
Turbos are alot higher. Mine is naturally aspirtated ans my average ranges from 11.9 to 12.9.

Please does mazda cx 7 come with the Aux port?
Luxury Sport 2011 does yes. Not sure about other models.
Hi there, my CX7 MAazda is a beautiful car however ive had problems with the turbo overheating. Im going to visit my Mazda dealer as my mechanic has advised me to only add water not coolant. Is this a fact or a load of crap?
Only add Mazda FL 22 coolant (or equivelent) or you will compromise the life of the existing coolant which is good for 10 years
In an emergency only add clean water noting this means you will have to change the coolant sooner
have a 2011 CX7 luxury sport and it has a clunking sound when reversing out turning to left. anybody else had this problem? Mazda this it may be the calipers in the wheels clunking.
Very typical of any car really ... especially from a cold start. The brake pads are simply seating into the calipers. Going from reverse to forward is when you will mainly notice this - perhaps pad-to-caliper shims need replacing?
Hi I was just wondering I have water on the floor of the drivers side and it has not come through the window or door was just wondering, where it could possibly be coming in from?
This is not good .please check your coolant level .yiur heater pipe might be licking . If your coolant level is fine then maybe the water proofing sealant is broken from outside bottom of your windscreen .
Hope that helps.i hope car has no problem
It coming from ur a/c behind ur dash u hav a hose check if it plugged in
Im am interested in Buying the CX7 Luxury but after reading these Reviews im a turn off the idea of the Turbo has over 70% of people have complained about Blow out Turbos. Thats a very high Percentage... would it still be a good idea to go for the Classic (NO Turbo, 2.5L) Model? there does not seem to be many bad reviews about this model. Thanks in advance guys.
Hi Westy, as per my review of our turbo CX7, we are having no problems at all, as we all ways follow the mazda service schedule and always use the correct petrol (95 oct). So if you want the grunt of the turbo, which is great for cruising on the highway, or overtaking quickly, then make sure you buy one that has a full service history, preferable Mazda service. The Maxda Cx7 was very popular, so you need to put in perspective that owners who are faced with an expensive turbo fix are most likely to vent their anger on a site like Product Review. good luck
No Worries...
Thanks heaps for the Advice Jamie.. I will definitely Make sure the turbo has a full Servicing History from Mazda... You have been a big help.
My wife has a cx7 for 3 years now and it has nearly come up to 80000 km and it drives like a new car still. I do service every 8k approx and always use premium fuel and get at least 460km out of a tank in mixed driving conditions which is good if you consider size, weight /turbocharged. Any car will give you problems if you don't look after it and it's false economy to skip services etc. And best thing to do is once you have a good mechanic then stick that mechanic so one person gets to know your car well
Can anyone tell me anything bad about 2009 luxury 88000 km?
Pls find my post about how bad the cx7 luxury is.... Don't waste your money
