Mazda Tribute Questions & Answers
Hi ,I have a 2006 mazda tribute 3ltr v6 , problem is that upon starting it makes a high pitch squealing noise but goes when the engine is heated up , have located what I believe to be the source but need help identifying the part name , so it was coming g from the water pump area so I changed the belt (one use stretch belt) problem was still there so took the loss and ordered a new pump and belt but have tested before changing the pump and belt and the squealing is still there in the same place now obviously the water pump isn't going to make a noise is there is no belt attached so I'm assuming it's the pulley above the water pump that's on its way out , does anyone know what that pulley is called can't find names on any diagrams. Also to turn that specific pulley you have to turn the crank pulley on the opposite side of the engine.

How to diagnose a Mazda Tribute V6 3.0 engine 2001 - 2006 model electric wiring harness?
My Mazda Tribute overheated last week...I changed the thermostat...now it will not start. Tested battery...full on charge...switched out starter...still will not start. Battery light continues to stay on while attempting to start. No crank...no sounds of attempting to start. Any ideas of what could be the problem? Only thing left is to take out the alternator and get it tested...but just put one in just 8 months ago. Even try to reset the theft lock module. Still no go. Any ideas...before I take out the alternator for testing.
Hi how long should it take to change the sump gasket on a 2003 tribute. Thanks.
Why does the heater blow cold
I own a Mazda Tribute 2001 and have just had a new radiator put in, heads tested, new thermostat, fans working and still overheats. Why would this be thanku
I’d be checking the fans are actually turning on, they may be unplugged. Also check that the coolant is has colour, this indicates coolant is actually there and not just straight water. These are the basics that you can check with out any mechanical training.
However If these are fine, I’d be looking at your thermostat, maybe faulty, or a potential blockage in your cooling system. These last 2 will require a mechanic. GOOD LUCK!
Thanku
Can u put computer box for mazda tributes model 2001 to model 2004 then start without programing?
Mazda Tribute v6 2006 leaking coolant. Dash temp doesn’t show any changes or overheating not sure if it’s working right so took it for service and they say only one tool is available in the whole of Australia to fix it and they’d had a hard time getting their hands on it to loan in the past. That it was too difficult to fix and would cost over a thousand ? Advised to ring round Mazda or Ford and see what to do . Is my leg being pulled here or is that remotely true ?
My Mazda Tribute 2004 v6 keeps overheating Nd smoke keep coming out of engine got new water pump got new thermostat flushed out radiator ,fans work fine no water in my oil can’t see leaks or damage hoses what could it be
Did you find out what the issue was?
A blocked catalytic converter (2004 has 3) can cause back pressure and in turn the tribute will overheat, there could also be a kink in one of the hoses.. these are just a couple of examples
Hi I have a 2006 mazda tribute I seem to be losing water out of the over flow hose noticed I was driving it without water in the bottle but temp gauge has never moved from half way when I got home there was bubbling noises from under the hood and there's no milky substance in the oil ?
My V6 Mazda tribute 4 keeps stalling while driving in traffic, I'm terrified its going to happen on highway, what could it be?
My 2004 tribute stalled when I took it on the highway, changed the vacuum exhaust tubes, they were cracked and not venting exhaust from the engine under load.
Thanks for that, my vacuum hose wasn't even connected, it is now and no more stalling
Looking st buying a Mazda Tribute 2002. Under 200000kms v6 all electric. What issues should I look out for? Cheers
How much is it to replace the timing belt in the 2007 v6 tribute? Last quote i had it was $4500 to do (Live in a minning town). They said they had to remove the whole front end to do it and that was the minimum quote it could be more. I did look it up on the net and you only have to remove the front wheel and guard.
sounds way too much...buy a good car for that. seems you are being stiffed. I am no mechanic but you need to get another opinion, try ringing mechanics in major suburban area.
Haha! Sorry but the Mazda Tribute v6 is fitted with a timing CHAIN. Lasts the life of the vehicle. I’ve had my engine out and yes it will cost around the $3,500 mark. But all that was replaced on mine in regards to timing was the chain wear guides. That and the timing cover gasket, sump gasket and trans gasket ( it was leaking a lot of oil ).
I have a Mazda Tribute 2004. The car runs hot but doesn't overheat. Also we are constantly replacing coolant but can't find whether there is a leak.
it could have a slow leak into the block. check the oil colour if it has a white milky look you have a small crack or leaking seal within the system. best to get a mechanic to look at it.
The car won't go over 80km over heating water in oil is the head blown and is it a easy fix or better off getting professionally fixed how do I tell if it serious or a minor fix or a problem that will be over the top for me to fix
Thank you
Yours truly J Forbes
Odds are head is blown or a cracked cylinder. Either way I wouldn’t be driving it anywhere. It will no doubt be a pricey fix, $1000+ if it’s the head, a lot more if it’s a cylinder. Get it into a workshop and get them to check it out. Don’t let them do anything till they tell you what the problem is and give u an accurate, written quote.
