I'm thinking of buying the 3.5kw reverse cycle split system Avanti series AC. I don't want the function where it turns off when there's no movement, and am I able to set a timer for it to turn off an hour after I go to bed? Is the wi-fi unit decent? I already have a Mitsubishi Electric AC with wi-fi and it works well. I like the Avanti series because it's a much smaller sleeker looking unit. The Mitsubishi Electric is pretty big and chunky, it is fine in our huge sitting room but I want one for a much smaller space. 4m x 4m room with 5m high ceilings and 2 sides of the room are almost 100% glass. About 1km to the ocean from our house.

Hello Sunni, Thank you for your enquiry! The Avanti series doesn’t incorporate a motion sensor so any timer you set will function as per normal. It’s our Avanti PLUS series that incorporates the motion sensor.

The Avanti series does however include a sleep timer which allows you to set a time of operation before turning off automatically. You can find more information on this and additional timer functions of the Avanti series on page 18 of the user manual (which I’ve linked below).

The MH-AC-WIFI-1 works well and offers control of the basic functions of the system however performance may vary depending on your own internet and home Wi-Fi network and of course customer expectations.

Regarding picking the best sized unit for that particular room, we always recommend speaking to a local installer who can assess your space and provide a product recommendation and a quote. You can find you closest MHI installer by visiting the page below and entering your postcode.

Bought what l thought was a 3.5kw advanti yet the model number on user manual is dxk12zsa-w and on the inverter is dxc12zsa-w is there a reason for this ?

G'day Harry! The Avanti SRK 3.5kW is exactly the same as the DXK12 3.5kW. The specification, it just depends where your installer purchased the unit from, but completely the same. external link

Hi, can you buy just the inside unit or outside unit Seperate? I had 2 inside units in oem packaging from auctions but missing the outside units.

Hi Andrew, If you're looking to purchase the outdoor unit and organise installation, you can speak with one of our installers. You can find your closest one by visiting the page below and entering your post code.

If you're looking to purchase just the outdoor unit, with no installation we'd recommend speaking to one of our wholesalers. You can find your closest one by doing the same steps as above, just ensuring you select 'Wholesaler' under the filter option.

We having a same clicking/rattling issue. Just installed about 3 weeks old, issue is intermittent, and always evident in eco mode or normal mode sometimes. The indoor unit is so quiet that this rattling noise ruins the experience for us. And when I take a video of it, can barely hear the sound in the video. Interestingly we have another identical unit in another room and no similar noise noted. Hesitant to launch warrantly claim because of the dodgy credit card details withholding. Would be interested to know if anyone had their issues fixed?

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners   DM

Hi V, Really sorry to hear of the issues you're having. If the unit has only just been installed, we'd suggest speak with the installer to determine if they can come back and assess the unit to ensure the issue wasn't caused during installation.

If they're unable to help, or have assess the unit and confirmed that it's not an installation issue, we'd suggesting taking a close up video which shows the sound and sending it to us via our Facebook page so we can look into it.

Hope this helps but if you need anymore information, feel free to contact us on 1300 138 007.

Thank you. Spoke with the installer and sent him a video. It's not an install issue and he mentioned some other clients have had the same problem. I will send thru the video via facebok soon.

Hi, I've seen a number of reviews on these air conditioners saying that the indoor unit makes an annoying clicking sound that people are having difficultly eliminating. Is this still the case with these or has it been fixed? Also I'm a light sleeper and silent mode is particularly important to me. What are the decibels on silent mode for this unit? I can't find this info anywhere.

We are usually pretty sensitive to noises but due to our being in our family area I can’t really comment other than we are enjoying our unit so far.

Hi Marie, The 3.5kW Avanti model produces 19 dB on the ultra-low fan speed, 27 dB on low, 34 dB on medium and 43 dB on high fan speed. You can find more specifications on this in our split systems brochure below.

Regarding the clicking noise, this was an extremely rare occurrence and should no longer be an issue. Regarding the silent mode - this will reduce the noise of the outdoor unit by 3 dB's.

Hope this helps but if you need anything else, don't hesitate to let us know.

I was generally impressed with the apparent build quality of Mitsubishi air conditioners and so we purchased a Mitsubishi 3.5kW split system around 5 years ago. I installed the unit myself and went to great lengths ensuring it was installed in the best manner possible, therefore after a month or so in operation when it started to develop a clicking noise from the indoor unit, I was absolutely fuming to say the least!

Mitsubishi's response was that I could lodge a warranty claim and an authorised service technician would be able to repair it. I was not happy with this at all because in my view (and based on prior experience) I have paid for a new unit direct from factory, NOT for a unit that has been bashed by a "factory trained service technician."

I should point out that I am authorised to carry out electrical testing, repair and installation work and I'm not suggesting anyone should do what I have unless suitably qualified and competent. Anyway, I decided to investigate the cause of this clicking noise and using a few well established comparative measurement techniques I'd determined that, without doubt, the fan rotor shaft had excessive runout (essentially bent/distorted/not running true). After not finding any other abnormalities I test ran the unit with covers removed (again, do not do this unless qualified) and confirmed the noise was coming from the non-drive end bearing mount, which is made of rubber. With the fan rotor operating you could feel the runout through the bearing mount, and feel the clicking noise coming through the rubber. This sounds a little hard to believe at first, but think about rubber mounted against plastic - it sticks initially and when forced enough to move, it produces a clicking noise as it "lets go" of the plastic surface. This was the source of the clicking noise in my case, and it occurred with every rotation of the fan, particularly loud at lower fan speeds.

Given my past experience with "factory trained technicians" completing repair work, I was not keen to have a replacement fan fitted at the expense of other things being broken and/or not re-assembled correctly in the process, so I decided just to leave it. After several seasons it has bedded in and quietened down, now it's pretty well non-existent (fingers crossed). I do not understand how such a key component could be manufactured with this type of defect, but obviously something in the manufacturing / assembly process permits it and so it can happen again; based on this I wouldn't buy one without being able to inspect prior to purchase - yes other things might be wrong that you can't see, but if something as critical as the main fan rotor is bent, what's the point in continuing with installation.

Hi Ron, Sorry to hear of the issues you're having. You may want to check the unit is in heating more by pressing the 'MODE' button on the remote until the sun symbol appears and setting the temperature to 22-24c using the up an down arrows on the TEMP button.

You can find more information on the user manual below but if you're still having issues don't hesitate to contact us on 1300 138 007 and we can go through some troubleshooting with you.

I want install a few of the 3.5KW SRK35ZSA-W aircons however my installation constraints are that the electrical wiring, refrigerant pipes, etc. must be able to enter from left hand side or right hand side, not through the wall at rear of unit. Is such an installation configuration possible please?

What is the difference between this avanti series and the MSZ35 GL series?

Joe B
Joe B

AVANTI® Series of wall mounted split system air conditioners seamlessly combines European design with superior Japanese engineering. Developed by award winning Italian designers TENSA, the AVANTI® series. The AVANTI® series of split system air conditioners is best suited to small and medium spaces 2kW to 5kW. GL series sizes 2.5 kW – 7.8 kW. Difference is style and size basically.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners   DM

Hi Bruce, The MSZ series is produced by Mitsubishi Electric and we are Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, a completely separate company. While Mitsubishi Electric make other products such as fridges, hand dryers, etc, we focus on doing one thing well which is delivering heavy duty, high quality air-conditioners.

For more information on the SRK35ZSA head over to our website mhiaa.com.au.

How many m2 will this effficiently heat/cool pls

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners   DM

Hi Waz, The 3.kW unit should be able to heat UP TO 40m2 and cool UP TO 35m2 given the optimum conditions however this depends on a number of factors such as where you are located within Australia, the type of insulation the space has, the size/location/facing directions of windows, the flooring within the space, etc, etc.

We suggest you speak to a local Air+ dealer who can provide a proper quote and product recommendation. You can find your closest dealer by visiting our website (mhiaa.com.au) and clicking on 'Where to Buy'.
