Palermo Wall Bed Questions & Answers
Hi I'm having issue with the feet. Once the bed is flat they are not at a right angle. It's like they are over-extending? I haven't installed the mechanism (plastic bracket) which is the last step, as I think I must have done something wrong? Will that plastic mechanism fix it, I don't think it will?
Hi. Looking at purchasing double Palermo frame and mechanism. My question is where the mechanism attaches to the metal frame, can it be moved along the frame further. Trying to fit inside built in wardrobe which already has steal frame. If it can be attached further down the frame it will allow me to put the bed frame inside the cupboard more which will then give me the desired height to get it under the existing steal frame of the built in wardrobe if that all makes sense. Thanks Mark
When I tried to attach the strut it twisted slightly so that it does not line up with the mount. It is still in teh streel holder. Any suggesteions on how to attach? Should I take it out of the sleeve, but then have the issue of compressing 75kg pressure to make it fit. Regards, Peter
Can you fit a 250mm thick mattress to this fold down wall bed
you can if you have it down all the time, however it is only spec'd for a 200cm mattress, which, if you spend the money on a custom-made inner-spring one, will be more comfortable as most 200cm mattresses are just coily and not good to sleep on.
Thanks for the speedy and detailed response
We've put the Palermo Wall bed together, it's up and tucked away nicely - only thing we need help with is the bed won't stay down - there must be something we've done or not done correctly - can anyone help please?
Initially I had this occurring, I choose a heavy mattress which helps to weigh down the bed.
The bed has now been used on and off over a 2 year period and the bed sit firmly on the floor.
Melanie thank you - but all I can imagine is someone getting into bed and the bed lifting up before the guest makes it onto the bed!!!! Is this the way it is usually - I would have thought there was some type of locking device - or am I just wishful thinking??
Hi all, Looking at purchasing this. Wondering if anyone had suggestions on mattresses that fit? Or what the maximum depth of mattress will fold up with the bed. Thanks Erin
I purchased a double mattress and it fitted nicely.
Do you know the depth of the mattress?
we bought an Emma mattress and it fits beautifully
Hi, Hoping someone can help me out here. I have just bought a queen size palermo wall bed second hand. It is not assembled and I can not find the assembly instructions anywhere online. Would anyone know where I could find these to download?
Checked the other reviews...this one has a scan of the instructions: https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/c22d9b9d-6aee-4a33-b8bf-8a35c3c31d83
Thanks Mat. I will see if I can find it. Fingers crossed!

Anyone know how much ground clearance there is when the bed is down? Trying to see if I can leave a very low coffee table (25cm) or will the bed sit on-top when the wall-bed is open.
Thanks in advance!!
Hello Trying to assemble the wall bed- Having an issue with these pistons. They seem too long to get the leverage point in the cup- We’ve not removed the piston surround as told however we cannot seem to shorten the piston- How Did you do this? Any suggestions?
Interested in the Palermo queen size wall bed 'mechanism only' can not find any dimensions anywhere. Can someone help?
has anyone else had issues with the bed leg not staying under the bed (when pulled down)? If so how did you work through this issue?
Is the floor of your room on concrete slab? You might have a slightly uneven floor. It's not uncommon. You might need to affix a small bit of cork or soft wood to the base of the leg to stop it from sliding.
Spirit level shows that its flat but the cork is a good idea. Is there any locking feature for the legs so they dont over extend or slip out, or just reliant on friction from the ground surface?
Hi cinnamon, did you find a solution? I'm having the same problem.
Nope, it was a pos bed and I got a refund through amazon because of its bad design and terrible manufacturing tolerances.
This shouldnt even be a product being sold if it cannot support its own weight with the legs.
Hi we’ve just put our bed together, when we pull the bed down (without mattress) the legs don’t stay in place, i thought they’d somehow lock in place and when you let go the bed starts to retract up. Confused on what’s happened. please help.
The bed will rise without the mattress in place, you need the mattress to add the weight to keep the bed in the down position. There is no locking mechanism to keep the legs in place.
There is a locking mechanism built in. What you do is pull the bed down. Before you pull out the legs, give the bed a sharp push down like you are overextending the 90 degree angle. It takes a few times to get used to the right amount of push and start lighter than too forcefully, but it’ll eventually lock in place. Then you can pull the legs down. The next time it’ll only take one push once you know the right amount of force. Good luck!
I put a hole through the cabinet where a bolt can be inserted into the frame to lock it down My bed when pushed down per instructions would lock permantley a specialist called in had trouble freeing it It is safer if you have young Children bouncing about. The down Push is fine when it works. It was hard to find a STUT specialist that would come to you. Do not release the stuts yourself by taking them off the pivot point if this happens to you .They will extend, big problem. A square washer covers the hole . The hole goes right through the frame a 1/2 inch bolt is used.
Hi hoping someone can help me with this problem. I purchased a Palermo wall bed and I don’t have any instructions and I cannot work out how the gas struts are released as they seem to be lock.
You have to drop the bed past vertical to unlock them Basically you lower the bed toward the floor and the gas struts unlock but be careful as they are very strong and the bed will want to retract I had the same problem but it is hidden in the instructions Awesome beds, we love ours
Thank you very much, I would never have worked that one out.
Hi, similar issue here. Were your gas struts different lengths? Number 2 is about 2cm longer than number 1... struggling to get it all to meet
