I purchased a Pestrol Rodent free device in Dec 2024 because I was told it deterred German cockroaches. I've plugged this into our kitchen wall, but I regularly find the pests sitting on or very close to the device. It's clearly not deterring the creatures. And yes, all lights are turned on when the device is employed. I also use a gel in strategic locations in our kitchen. This appears to be more effective than the Pestrol. Any suggestions? Does the device need to be serviced?

Hey Anthony, The Pestrol Rodent Free is designed to help reduce pest activity, but results can vary depending on room layout, infestation pressure, and whether the device is positioned correctly for the area. For German cockroaches, we also recommend using it alongside gel bait, sanitation, and exclusion measures for best results. If you’d like, we can check your setup and advise on placement, if you can get in touch with us at info@pestrol.com.au one of our friendly customer service team will be able to assist!

Hi, I don’t think my Pestrol plug in working, it’s flashing a red light on the Electromagnetic, I have it placed under the stairs and I have noticed mice poo, Is it working?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Tania, Unplugging the device for roughly 24-48 hours will usually kickstart the unit again and continue the repelling technologies. If you still have the lights flashing on the unit, that would be an indication that the technology is still working, but it's not iron clad, there could be something wrong with the Electromagnetic function on the device.

For the Rodent Free we offer a 24-month warranty period, if it's still within 2 years of purchase, please reach out to our friendly customer service team for further advice.

I’ve had my petrol for a few years I have 2 units in the house no rodents for the last 2 years Lights are all on Green solid other 2 flashing but there back what should I do?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Dan, If you're experiencing a re-entry of rodents with the Rodent Free units still plugged in, please unplug the units for 24- 48 hours and plug them back in again. If the source of the noise has moved, please reposition the units closer to where you're hearing rodent activity.

Does pestrol work with solid brick flat

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Antonio, The Pestrol Rodent Free uses three different repelling technologies to repel rodents from the home which will make is suitable for pretty much any type of home. 1. Electromagnetic, this will utilize the wiring in the home to flush rodents out from any wall cavities in the house, if there is a gap where the wiring is running through the wall, the Rodent Free will reach in there.

2. Ultrasonic is a high-frequency sound deterrent that is disruptive to rodents' behaviours, and they try to escape the constant noise emitted. Being a sound-based technology, this won't pierce through solid objects so try to have the device in an open area for the best results.

3. Ionic will use charged ions to effectively trick the rodents' senses by mimicking what happens during a big storm, causing rodents to scurry away.

I have a marine aquarium. Will pestrol have any effect on my corals?

DesiG
DesiG

They don't work - trust me don't waste your money. I have an aquarium and it didn't affect it because they just don't work

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Katrina, I doubt the Rodent Free would have any effect on the aquarium, the device uses a couple of different technologies to repel rodents from the home. Ultrasonic, which is a high-frequency sound, Electromagnetic which sends a pulse through the wiring of your home to flush them out of any wall cavities and Ionic, which essentially mimics what happens during a big storm to trick the rodent's senses into fleeing and seeking shelter elsewhere.

Sometimes these units aren't the best fit for every situation, which is why we offer a 100-day money-back guarantee with the Rodent Free.

How long does a Pestrol Rodent Free last?

Pestrol

Hey Robert,

As there are no moving parts in the electronics, these units can last up to about 10 years.

We've had ours for approx 5-6 years, no issues. Last couple of evenings I've heard rats moving around the solarium roof. It's a small roof space. The Pestrol Rodent Free unit is plugged below that roof directly into the power point. All lights are on - green one steady, orange & yellow flashing. What could be wrong, why are the rats back?! Appreciate your feedback, Pestrol, thank you.

The top green light is not on and the switch is all the way down is the unit now faulty?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Nev, The green light at the top of the unit can be a little dimmer than the other two lights. To check, I always just cover that top light with my hand just to check if it's still on. Shouldn't really be impacting the performance of the unit, but we'd be happy to try and look into this one for you.

Would you be able to check that top light for me, if it is off completely, please let me know your order number so I can get this one fixed up for you

Cheers

which light should be on when plugged in for best all round result?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Barbara, You would want to have all three small lights on the front for best results. This will be displaying all 3 repelling technologies the Rodent Free uses to keep your home Free of Rodents!

To do so, you just need to push the switch on the side of the unit all the way down.

Grant J.

Grant I have a power point installed in the metre box itself , so if a unit was plugged into that outlet would it still service the inside of my house ?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Grant, For best results try to keep the unit in an open space on a level where rodents might be running around. If you've plugged the machine into a metre box and it's closed, this might diminish the unit's ultrasonic function, which is a sound-based deterrent that will cover the home internals.

The electromagnetic function utilizes the wiring of your home, so long as it's plugged directly into a power point in the home, and not run through an extension cord or power bank adapter, this will travel through the wiring, to scare rodents off from wall cavities and ceiling spaces.

What is the best position on the switch for mice?

I use the full function setting

Pestrol

Hey Les,

For optimal results, you want to have the switch set to the bottom.

This will run all three technologies on the device, Ultrasonic, Ionic, and Electromagnetic.

Charles G.
Charles G.

Why should I not plug the unit into a multi plug unit?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Charles. That will be due to one of the functions on the unit, the electromagnetic. Essentially this technology will amplify electromagnetic pulses and utilize the wiring in your home to carry that signal through wall and ceiling cavities, places where rodents will typically hide away when they infest a home. Rodents can't stand it so it will flush them out of their hiding spaces and the home.

To ensure that the Rodent Free is maximizing the output of this technology, a more direct connection to the wiring is preferable as there are many different makes and models of extension cords and multi adapters, which can cause a disruption to the effect the Rodent Free will have.

I have rats in the ceiling space of a tiled roof. Ceiling space is about 85m^2. How many units required? And if I understand correctly no need to locate them in the ceiling space. They could be plugged in in living areas? The ceiling space has the wiring for ceiling lights throughout. Thanks Hugh

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Hugh, For an area of that size, I would recommend either 2 or 3 units to cover. If you have multiple circuits in your home you'd need at least one plugged into each to ensure there aren't areas of the ceiling space that are uncovered.

You are correct in your understanding, they would not need to be plugged directly into the ceiling cavity in order for the units to start repelling, the Rodent Free's electromagnetic function will utilize the wiring of your home to start repelling those unwanted visitors.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask here, or contact us through our website!

HRM

If the ceiling space only has light circuit wiring a 240v outlet will be req’d in the ceiling. Yes?

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Hugh, You would need to be able to plug the Rodent Free into the same circuit for its electromagnetic function to operate and repel. If you don't have an outlet that connects to the same circuit, perhaps one of our open-air ultrasonic units might be better suited for your home, if you're able to get into the ceiling cavity to place the unit.

just confirming this product needs to be plugged into power I don’t see how I can use it if I have to put in my roof space?

john
john

YES

Pestrol
Pestrol   DM

Hey Paul, The unit does need to be plugged directly into the outlet. The reason for this is the Rodent Free will use Electromagnetic technology, which repels rats and mice from wall cavities and ceiling spaces by utilizing the wiring in your home. So it wouldn't need to be plugged into the ceiling cavity in order to repel rodents.
