Philips Original Airfryer Questions & Answers
Verifiedi have a white Phillips Essentials and i was wondering if you can tell me what Cases will i buy for the airfryer.
Does it cost to have the recipes app?.
Hi Karen, thank you for your questions. Nice to hear that you own a Philips Airfryer. Our recipe app, called HomeID, can be used for free. You can use any ovenproof dish or mould in the Airfryer, whether it's made of glass, ceramic, metal or silicone. You can also use silicone or paper cupcake cups or moulds to bake cupcakes, muffins or small gratins. The maximum sizes for baking tins or moulds that can be used in model HD9216/81 are as follows.
Maximum size: 17 x 16 cm (6.7 x 6.3 inches) on the outer edges Maximum diameter: 16 cm (6.3 inches) Maximum height: 6 cm (2.4 inches)
Always make sure to place the baking tin/mould in the basket (never directly in the pan). If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact our colleagues at 61 1300 80 58 65 (Monday - Friday: 09:00 - 17:00 AST) if you live in Australia or at +64 800 854 885 (Monday - Friday: 11:00 to 19:00 NST) if you live in New Zealand. It says in the manual you cant use water in the air fryer. Is it when its connected or not? How am I supposed to clean it otherwise
Can I use oven cleaner to clean the inside/heating element?
Hi, Shane. Thanks for your question regarding cleaning your Philips Airfryer! We suggest to avoid using metal kitchen utensils or abrasive cleaning materials to clean the pan, basket and the inside of the appliance, as this may damage the non-stick coating. However, on page 12 of the user guide you can find information on how to clean your Airfryer: https://www.documents.philips.com/assets/20210504/f35aa39af69144cbac7fad1e012ebff7.pdf?_ga=2.246818759.214216893.1660020131-991434097.1653378391
We hope this helps, happy frying!

I intended to use oven cleaner for the heating element only. Mainly because I can see burnt grease on the inside "roof" of the airfryer. The instructions on page 12 of the user guide and the video on philips website suggesting to use "a soft- to medium-bristle cleaning brush. Do not use a steel wire brush or a hard-bristle brush" will not be able to remove the baked-on grease.
No issues for cleaning the pan or basket, as they are dishwasher safe.
Hi, Shane. Thanks for your elaborated reply. We don't recommend using a steel wire brush or a hard bristle brush, as this might damage the coating of the heating element. If you have the option, put the Airfryer outdoors (if not possible, it should be placed under an extractor hood) and run it (empty) for 10-15min at 200°C so that all food that is sticking to the heating element is completely burnt. After that the AF needs to cool down. Afterwards the heating element can be cleaned with a brush with middle-hard bristles so that all the burnt food is removed from the heating element.

Can I use aluminium wrap to cook fish in the fryer?
Hello, thanks for your question. Using baking paper and tin foil in your Philips Airfryer is NOT recommended for the following reasons: 1. If you cover the bottom of the basket, the airflow inside the airfryer is reduced. This results in diminished cooking performance of your Philips Airfryer. 2. If you put baking paper or tin foil in the bottom of the pan where the grease and dirt are collected, the airflow will be disrupted and you will not get a good cooking result. 3. The baking paper or tin foil could be sucked into the heater and could start to burn.
We hope this answers your question. If you need further assistance, we'd like to refer you to our colleagues for more information. You can reach them directly on 1300 363 391 (Australia), or 0800 658 224 (New Zealand) from Mondays to Saturdays: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm EST. They're always happy to help!

Everything was okey with my product until I pulled out the basket while the airfryer was working... about 2 minutes earlier than the timer... since then, the timer does not ring anymore when it comes to the end... and the inside fan turns off 2 minutes sooner than the timer... How can I fix that? Why is it so? Did I rwcked the timer when I pulled it out 2 minutes sooner???

Hi, the top part of where I put in the tray seems to be melting. Is this normal?

How many chicken drumsticks can I cook at one time?
I have recently purchased the HD9218/51 airfryer, based on reviews on Product Review, and I am happy with my purchase. I just have a few questions - is it possible to put a baking dish on top of the basket (something that seems to be used a lot in a recipe book I have been looking through). I am thinking it may not be an option for this model, but am unsure. So far I have only used it for frying chips and vegetables in the basket, but think it could maybe be used for much more. Is it possible to cook a small pizza in this machine?
Hiya, Janabelle. Thanks for your question. The baking master kit is a compatible accessory for this model Airfryer and can be placed in the basket of the Airfryer. You can prepare a variety of tasty foods with your Airfryer such as French fries, potatoes, snacks, meat and poultry. Chicken, beef, fish and most other dishes that are usually fried, grilled or roasted will taste delicious when prepared in your Philips Airfryer. Also, breaded food can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer with a little oil added to the homemade breading. All vegetables that can be grilled (such as courgettes, corn cobs or peppers) can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer. Frozen snacks can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer as they are. It is not necessary to defrost frozen ingredients before preparing them in the appliance. Frozen ingredients do require slightly more preparation time, but this will not influence the end result. The temperature control enables you to choose the best setting for each ingredient. You can prepare cakes, tarts, muffins as well as bread and many pastries in your Philips Airfryer.
I hope this information helps!
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
May I know if there is any difference between the Phillips Air fryer HD 9220 and HD 9216 and HD 9218? Which is the best model? Are these models still available? Thanks
Hi Poh, they seem to be the interative updates of the same product. The older models are listed as discontinued on the Phillips website.
Thanks for showing interest in our Airfryers, Poh. Both these models are perfectly fine, and have a few differences. You can see the user manual for the HD9220 here (https://philips.to/3g0jx1u) and the HD9216 here (https://philips.to/2SciDWO). It's up to you to choose which model is more suitable for you.
