I have had this iron a few years, and it has been great however lately it seems to stop working after a few minutes. It turns on, pumps water, steams away happily then it just stops.
The trigger does nothing and there are no noises when you click it (other than the sound of the switch itself) and you can still hear the boiler heating the water up
Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to buy another iron after only a few years.
HI there, decalc light is on on my iron but when I take the knob out, no water flows out but tank is full, what do I do?
Why is my descale button flashing on and off
Hi Sina, Thank you for your query about your PerfectCare Aqua! When your descale button (or the De-Calc light) is flashing, then, it is high time for you to descale your appliance. This helps to prolong the lifetime of the appliance and optimise the ironing performance. How do you get ant out of our iron

is it possible to remove the water reservoir as ants have got in through the fill point and can not be flushed back out the strainer

I love my perfect care Aqua iron but have noticed that there is mound growing inside tank. Is there any way I can get rid of this as it said in the manual not to use anything else except water.

We'd like to assist you here with the mound issue. Have you tried descaling your steam generator iron? We advise you to descale your machine regularly, so the inside of the tank of your device stays clean. Please watch this video external link where we explain how to descale your steam generator iron.

Hi.. We are moving from Aus to USA? We were wondering if Philips 8642 steam generator iron would work in USA? Would be need a converter? Please help asap
I'm sorry I'm a consumer so can't answer. I would think as a minimum you'd need a converter. You'd be best to contact the company (Phillips) directly.
No. US is 110 volts; we are 220/240 volts. A step-up transformer wouldn't be worth the expense. Irons are cheap. Give yours away and buy a new one over there. Not a Philips, however.

How to clean fungal growth in the reservoir of PHILIPS - GC8642/20 -Perfectcare aqua pressurised steam generator?
Hi Alexander, thank you for your question. Have you descaled your appliance recently? You can do so by holding a cup under the Easy De-Calc knob and turning the know anti-clockwise. Then remove the Easy De-Cal knob and let the water flow out. When water stops flowing out, reinstert the Easy De-Calb knob and tighten it. If you have descaled the appliance on a daily basis and there's still fungal growth, could you please give us a call at 1300 363 391 (AU) or 0800 658 224 (NZ)?
