Philips Airfryer XL Questions & Answers
VerifiedIs there a on/ off switch ( like in a microwave door) in one of the 4 pushable buttons in the bottom of the air fryer that detect pulling out of the bowl while the machine is on and disconnect the heater?
Yes turn the power point on then press the on button to program and start. You can press off at any time. My unit is eventually starting to ware on the non stick and has had lots of use still works well and cleans up OK
glad to hear your machine still serving you well. Mine though 12 years old but was very rarely used till recently then it decided to die abruptly about 6 months ago. That's when I started to gather info about this particular model. I found that the power supply board in models up to 2015 were riddled with failures.I disassembled it and looked at the board and it didn't look as if any component had been fried. I checked the 2 thermal fuses and they weren't burnt out either. The last possible reason for some air fryer brands to die suddenly are those that have on/off physical switches like those that are present in the doors of microwaves but in A/F they would be in the floor of the air fryer. When the basket is in place it closes the switch so the machine works and if you pull out the basket say to turn over the food inside, the switch opens and the heater fan and timer stop till you push basket back in again. Now I don't know if this model has such a switch because I couldn't find any or any wires at bottom for that matter and that's what I was asking about....
Hi Osama, Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately we're not sure if we understand your question completely - the Airfryer should automatically turn off and pause cooking upon removing the basket, and resume again once you put the basket back. You can also turn the Airfryer on/off with the power button near the display.

thanks for reply....my question is where is the switch located that allows the fryer to pause when I pull out the tray, and is it the same type/kind of switch that we find in a microwave oven that pauses the oven when you open its door

Hi, my Philips air fryer HD 9240/90 (Black) will not turn on. Please help.
Hi there, Dennis. Thanks for reaching out to us! We're sorry to hear this this is going on. Can you confirm that you have tried different power sockets and that you are fully closing the drawer? This last reason could cause the pan detection switch to not be deactivated and therefore the pan will not heat up.

My Phillips XL has been a faithful friend a couple of times per week for the last 18 months. As of today, it is now tripping the power /circuit breaker when in use; it ran for 8 minutes then tripped, then 1 min and tripped. Tried a different power point/circuit within house too. Any ideas or is it time for a new one?

I have bought the Phillips Airfryer XL today 19th jan 2021...i wasnt told it was discontinued, so why was it and can i take it back and get my money back ?
When I went in to buy a second unit in oct 2020 they were not available anywhere and I was told by a Harvey Norman sales guy and then someone at Good Guys that it had been discontinued, however a quick google search (today) shows they are back on sale and widely available.... It may be worth checking with Philips to see if it is actually discontinued or some annoying sales tactic to cover a supply issue. The other thing to consider is that while the XL is ever so slightly smaller than the XXL it is quite a bit cheaper and I have found that my XL cooks a little bit better than the XXL when I can't be bothered to preheat it. Also the extra buttons for me are a little bit irrelevant as I just have a temp/time list for the things I cook regularly.
Thank you very much i did buy it from Harvey Norman and got two years extra warranty. I wont return it as i havent used it yet and so therefore cant give a review, my daughter has a Kmart one and loves it ....
My XL Airfryer leaks oil/grease from the front right foot. It leaks when it’s in use but also when it sits on the counter not being used. I clean it often so it’s not from a build up of rendered fat/oil. What could be causing it and how do I fix it!!! It’s about 18 months old and had been leaking for about 2 months.
