Last few months, We noticed my vacuum is stopped after running 30 min. I had a chat with one of my friend he said looks like vacuums battery is gone. Just checking if we need to replace the battery and which battery we need, model number/serial number etc.

We are using Xiaomi Mi Roborock S50 Robot Vacuum Cleaner 2nd Generatio.

Kind Regards, Rajesh Kandpal

Hi, I have had the Robo for around 3 years and love it! Just did a service and put new parts in for about the 3rd time now. Noticed the the roller is now shuddering intermittently, anyone experienced this? Just got the parts from ebay, maybe they are slightly different to oem?

Just wondering how the Roborock works of you have a small incline or step into a different room? I had a very little step that goes into my bathroom how could I get it to clean both areas?

Chris Rollie
Chris Rollie

I've noticed that it vacuums the bottom shelf of the TV unit which would be around 2cm off the ground but then when it hits a 2cm bump it can get stuck, for instance our Rocking chair, where it's not a surface but just an instant bump. That's the only time it gets stuck though.

We have the Roborock S50 and we found it extremely good for vacuuming. Our only concern is that when we use the mop function to clean the house, the tank is always still full of water giving us the impression that hardly any water is being used. We wet the cloth before starting the cleaning. Is there snything else we should do,?

Are the filters blocked?

Roborock

You may need to replace the water filters, also are you using any cleaning solution with the water as this can cause them too block also.

Has anybody tried this vacumn on soft wood floors? (I have a second gen) We are moving into a rental property with this type of flooring (not hardwood floors - softwood) and we have been asked not to vacum at all which is really unrealistic for a family with young kids. We really hope this will be gentle enough of these types of floors

Chris Rollie

How can you not vacuum in a rental? Maybe just leaf blow!.. Lol sorry mate I haven't tried it on soft wooden floors in all seriousness.

I love my Roborock but recently it has startet to leave stripes on the floor when it cleans with the mop. The floor is not very dirty to start with, so i thonk it is weird that these stripes accure.

Anyone else who has experienced this? Any advice?

I had the same at the beginning so I don’t use the mop anymore. I bought this as it had great reviews and am happy with the job it does vacuuming that I happy to mop by hand after. I’m not sure how big an area you are doing all at once . Maybe try reducing the size down and see how you go as it’s a little pad.

Has anyone else ever had issues with remembering the map when it drops down to 20% battery. Mine only 2 weeks old keeps losing the map when I set timer to start or it drops to 20% battery and loses where it is. I have put in a warranty claim and have to send it back. But I am interested if anyone else has the same problem. Yes I have the Map saving option on.

Snapperg

No I have had my vacuum for a year now that hasn’t happened only once it got confused and lost the map after an update to firmware. After I reset everything to default and started again I’ve had no issues. That was roughly 3 months ago

Haven't had this issue either bud

This was determined as a faulty unit. I had it sent back and they sent me a new unit. Since then it has been great, touch wood. Thanks all for your answers which confirms it is not usual and mine was a dud.

I have a 2-storey house with timber floors and rugs in some of the rooms. How does the mopping function work with the rugs? Do you have to set exclusions zones where the rugs are (and then miss vacuuming those areas)? Also I read people's comments about only being able to save one map at a time, so the vacuum will need to re-map every time you move it to the second floor. Is this still the case or has there been an upgrade? Finally, does the construction on the internal parts seem sturdy? Are parts replaceable if they break? Thanks :)

GrillaBBQ
GrillaBBQ

H I live in a single storey house. I block off carpeted zones when I am mopping by dragging a line/square across the area on the map that I don't want mopping. You can not mop and hoover over carpets, I doubt you will find anything that can do that, other than a human. On the whole I am very happy with Xiaomi and would consider buying two to solve the problem of two floors.

It should work perfectly.

Do you have to vacuum before you mop or does it do it at the same time?

Peter d.
Peter d.

does it at the same time. the mop is not a deep clean, but its good enough to get rid of footprints or light mud on a daily basis during wet season. They do say you should stop the vacuum every 30 mins and pull the mop off and rinse it and fill up the water and place it back on - really easy to do actually.

How does it handle going from mapping a timber floor to a timber floor with a rug? I don't want it to mop the rug!

Jarod the Reviewer
Jarod the Reviewer

Not sure because my timber floors have no rugs on, I know I have just zoned rooms with carpet off when it has been mopping. But not sure if you have a rug in the middle of the room. My suspicion is that it will end up mopping the rug (not too much of a problem because the mop is basically an microfibre cloth that the vacuum pulls, so mopping your rug isn't going to put a lot of water into the rug anyway). I will try figure it out for you.

Will
Will

We have timber floors with no rugs, but, we had a rug for a week (borrowed) and the robot went over it without a problem. When you select the mopping function you have to "specify" the area you want mopped. (So you would obviously not select the area with the rug) When you "mop the floor", maybe just take the rugs off the floor first...

Tony Shields
Tony Shields

Thanks for the replies. The rug is big and under a coffee table and chairs so not very movable

Wes
Wes

If it’s a large rug try folding it back and use legs of table to hold down as long as it doesn’t crease the rug you should find the machine will bump into it but not go on to.

Peter d.
Peter d.

yeah i think it will just run over the rug with the mop - not really ideal.

Hi, has anyone tried the Xiaomi with a split level home? Is it possible to just re-map each section each time you want to use it?

Jarod the Reviewer
Jarod the Reviewer

Yes you can, what you would do is just let it refresh the map each time it goes for an operation rather than saving it. So you'd lose the ability to say to it to go to a certain place, which means it would just clean everything because you'd have no off limits zones set, although you'd have the same problem with any smart vacuum

Thanks for all the reviews and comments guys! I saw differences in the prices that have been listed some as competitive as $420 from Kogan, how to get such a good price? Has anyone bought an extended warranty with it?

Will

I paid $539 on eBay for mine and didn't get an extended warranty. external link

I've got 6 of them for various houses and have never had a problem some are now over a year and a bit old. For the low price you're better repairing them than having a warranty. Parts are cheap and the construction is simple for the engine etc.

How do you translate it to English as its all in Mandarin and I am also not able to program it to map my house as I have stairs, can someone please help? Thanks

Muth T.
Muth T.

Use google translate. You have a setting that allows you to save the map. For now it can remember only one floor and if you move it to another floor it will have to redo the map. Map saving is for now only in Beta mode, most likely it will be able to save many floors in the next months.

Jarod the Reviewer

Change the language in settings. Although this could be the problem with buying an overseas modem.

Hi. We have a two storey house with a split level downstairs (effectively 3 levels). Can the vac remember 3 different floors? Will it sense when it comes to the edge of a stair? Thanks!

Craig H
Craig H

No

Peter d.
Peter d.

yes it senses when it comes to stairs. it wont fall down the stairs. All you need to do is place it on the floor anywhere and it will remap the layout of the floor. We use it on a split level house. The charger unit is downstairs and it will always go back to dock. When its on a floor without the charger it cleans everywhere and then just places itself on pause and says I cant find the charger and will sit until you carry it downstairs.

Thanks Peter. We’ve bought it and it does exactly as you’ve described. Cheers.

Hi All I am interested in purchasing this robot vacuum after reading all the 4-5star reviews but have a couple of questions. 1. Does it run on Apple/Android App? 2. I am concerned about some comments made regarding the app asking to access files, photos, contacts etc on your phone. Has anyone else had this issue with the "Australian" version of this product?

Thanks Jan

Kate
Kate

1. You use Mi Home app to control it. It is available on both ios & android. Use Singapore Server to access all features. If you have a Xiaomi Gateway and need to use China Mainland, you won't be able to access vacuum and will have to switch servers to access features. Timer still works in this case, so you can set the vacuum up with Singapore server, put it on a timer to run, and switch back to China server to use Gateway. 2. You can refuse access for anything you don't think necessary. Pretty sure most permissions aren't necessary, but I can't remember what I was asked for. If you don't need to access it while away from home, you should be able block it's access to internet using your modem/router.

Jan H.

Thanks Kate, this is a great help. I am in Australia and being a Chinese made product, the comments about accessing files was what confused me about the product. I have been looking at the "2nd Gen Australian Version" of the product so I'm sure it's been configured for Australian use. Thanks again!

Jan, do note the product uploads your GPS coordinates and maps of your house to their Chinese servers.

Hi, Would it be better to buy an Australian version Xiaomi or is the International version still better?

Will
Will

I run the app on my Apple iPhone with no problems. I have the Australian version and it has never asked to access my photos, files or contacts. I was a bit surprised that it requested to connect to the Singapore server as the default for Australia (I think perhaps because it was the closest server), however, it works rather well with no issues.

Jarod the Reviewer
Jarod the Reviewer

Got the Australian version, no issues just use the Singapore or the US servers. Being a Chinese product I'm sure the corrupt Chinese government has a laser map of your house, but I'm sure they could pull that information from something like core logic if they wanted it anyway. No issues on IOS and Android, have used both. (I have 6 for various properties and each place uses different operating systems).

Can anyone advise which online retailer they purchased their Xiaomi from? Did you you have any issues with delivery or service? And would you recommend or use them again?

Luke R

I've been burnt before (Android Enjoyed/Camerasky) so I opted for pickup from GEARBITE on ebay external link  to make sure they really had Australian stock. That's Gearbite not Gearbest! I went to their warehouse in Melbourne's east and saw their workshop repairing various xiaomi goods. I'd use them again and would trust them to reliably ship. I was there when Australia post filled their entire van - they are moving a lot of stock. A friend recently got his xiaomi roborock from them in a couple days.

Jarod the Reviewer
Jarod the Reviewer

EBay that thing. They have pretty good prices and just choose a seller who has a lot of reviews and has been around for a while. They would be cheap to repair if they break (not that I've had one of the 6 I own break yet) and it's been over a year.

Terry B
Terry B

I wouldnt buy a Roborock from anyone online, i've been scammed with the Roborock i purchased as it has a known fault rendering it useless. With no way to get a refund, and Roborock not wanting to know about the problem i've paid $500 and got nothing to show for it.

So unless there's a physical store you can walk back in to when you find the Roborock doesnt work, i wouldnt buy one. There's a reason Xiaomi which is a billion dollar company wont setup proper stores in Australia and be held accountable.

Hello, I have 1 Xiaomi Robot 2 and very impressed by its performance. I like to buy another so that one can be used on the ground floor and the other on the first floor and program it to clean when I am away during the day. Can someone tell me if this is possible as the APP does not identify 2 different devices for programming. If this is possible, please advise the procedure? Thanks!

Jarod the Reviewer
Jarod the Reviewer

Yes you can. I run 2 in one house. What you do is add the vacuums to different rooms of the same house in the app (called one room ground and one room floor 1 for example) . It will give you different maps of each floor, and both vacuums will show up in the same house in settings. The app is a bit fiddly, but once you're started they should be easy to fiddle around with.
