Rusk Miracurl Curler Questions & Answers
My hair got stuck and I had to pull it out with a bit of force. Now when I turn on the curler it's making a continues high pitched tone. What do I do ? I've tried cleaning it.
There are three switches on the handle, but the instruction manual only mentions what two of them are. Can anyone please tell me what the third one is, the one that is closest to the curling mechanism?
On/off, length of time you want it to curl for and whether you want all left curls all right curls or alternating curls.
Can you use this on damp hair?
No
Hi..
is this good for long hair?
confused..Because they using to very short hair in Utube..
jina
If it is layered you’ll get a much better result. If it’s all the one length it will only take in about 6 inches of hair (thin section), but it’s so easy to use.
Does hair have to be totally without product (hairspray/styling product) i.e. just washed and dried or can I use it the day after or even 2 days after washing hair i.e. having used some (a little) product on my hair?
I think it's probably fine with hair that's had some product, especially if it's e.g. hairspray that's been brushed out. I've used it with small amounts of hair product in place. I'm no expert, though!
I only use it on clean hair. Product tends to heat differently and could burn your hair as they are not designed for that heat level. The only product I use is a heat protectant. Other Products makes your hair more likely to tangle in the barrel and that is bad. Just follow the instructions for perfect hair. I have hair down to my chest now and I never brush through product in my hair like hair spray etc because you risk hair breakage and hair takes forever to grow. heat protectant serum and your rusk miracurl are all you need and some spray after.
Best in dirty hair...brush hair really well aND it will be great. More oils the better for your hairs health and curl hold.
What is the size of the roller within? I'm looking for something to create soft curls - that last. With my super thick & abundant waist length hair, I usually spend close to an hour to roll with my curling tongs and that'll only last a few hours and cost me a few burn marks.
The diameter of the curl isn't very large but the staying power is amazing. I curled my hair in Wednesday night and it was still curly in Saturday when I washed it; a GHD style often only lasts about 1-2 hours on my hair. For very long hair the pieces need to be thinner, which could slow you down. I'd find a stockist and go in for a demonstration to see if it suits you.
Just use a smaller section of hair to curl. The smaller the section, the longer the hair that can go in, curls will come out springy and tight but just let them cool then gently brush out for a softer curl.
Does using the Mircacurl every day cause hair to get dry and brittle and break?
Yes it's really bad for your hair, it can cause really bad split ends because of the rolling thing inside of it
Sorry...cant answer, my daughter only uses it on special occasions...maybe once a month if that. I would think that any appliance that uses heat would not be good for your hair!
As with any heat styling, you must use heat protection products to care for your hair prior to styling. My hair is long and healthy and I curl and straighten often. But any heat styling will be harsh on your hair without proper care.
Hi all... I have longggg hair down to my waist line and was wondering if they would be any good on my hair? I tryed the vs saloon ones and found them no good in my longgg thick hair... hrlp I reallllly want some but dont want to buy if no good for me =)
hello there my hair is just above the hip and is very very thick this product works very well for all types of hair, the only problem is when having thick hair you have to separate your hair into smaller sections, no other product has worked in my hair before. I really recommend it =)
For longer hair you will certainly need to do smaller sections of hair but if you use a hotter heat setting it should penetrate your hair to curl it well. I have fine hair and its past my shoulders. I find I need to curl small sections to get more defined curls but if I do large sections it makes my hair really wavy. Even though I have fine hair there is a lot of it. A medium heat setting is best of thicker sections and the lowest setting is best for smaller sections.
get it you wont regard it! I have long brown thick hair to my bum and it worked fine, just need to do smaller sections like the previous ladies said but other than that its amesome! n even stayed in the whole day n next day I have wavy loose curls which I personally thought looked way better, 2 days with curls n easy to use, cant bet that:)
I have really long hair, down to mid-back and it works great for me.
I have the VS Sassoon Curl Secret (similar product, but less settings). I find it's pretty useless - hair ogre gets caught, I did get burnt and I don't love that I have to use such a small section of hair. I am wondering if anyone has used both products and how they compare? Can you can use larger sections of hair with the miracurl? I saw a youtube vid of a girl using the rusk miracurl and she seemed to curl fairly thick sections. Her hair was just below her shoulders; mine is mid-back and medium thickness.
Thanks!
My sister bought VS after trialling my RUSK to save herself no more than $30, thinking it would be the same or at least similar since price wasn't much different, she regretted buying the VS and has since purchased the RUSK. I haven't tried the VS as I am thrilled with the RUSK. I guess it would be like comparing a GHD straightener to a VS straightener, yes a HUGE difference in engineering, settings, quality, workmanship and therefore final result...To answer your question on amount of hair, will obviously depend on individual's hair length, the longer it is, the less hair can be rolled into the barrel of the RUSK. But my hair is VERY thick and well past my lower back and it doesn't take more than half hour to have a full head of perfect curls. Maybe it would be an idea to ask your hairdresser to trial the RUSK on your hair, and ask to have a go at doing it yourself, this way you can make the comparison for yourself. Hope this helps.
I'm able to curl decent sections of my hair at a time. The thicker the section the less intense the curl is. I got nice spiral curls the last time I used it with small sections of hair. When I use thicker sections I get a nice curl that when its brushed leaves my hair really wavy. I chose to buy the rusk miracurl as I wanted the option to have alternating curls instead of just one direction to make it look more natural. I did consider buying the VS Sassoon Curl Secret cause it was cheaper but the features won me over for the miracurl. You might need to talk to a hairdresser to find a product that could assist with creating curls so that you can do larger sections and get better results with yours. Best of luck :)
I looked at buying the VS curler for my christmas present, They were sold out, went to a hairdresser shop and discussed my options. They advised buying the miracurl which I did. The best curler. I have very frizzy and hard to style hair. The Miracurl by RUSK makes my hair into beautiful curls with no fuss. I used it new years in 35 degree heat for 12 hours, it stayed in even with the heat and then a drive with the windows open doing 100 plus, my hair was still amazing. I had a friend purchase the VS brand and she hates it, her hair gets caught, she cannot do the bigger curls and cannot put it up too close to her head, which makes the curls start much lower. They also aren't as defined, as they have less settings.
