I am looking for the clear lid for the Sheffield chip and air fryer Model PLA 0750. The unit works great and I do not want to part with it, just for the sake of the cracked lid .Hopefully someone will be able to help me. Thanks in advance.
where can I get a ccok book for this air fryer?
You really don’t need a cook book .... just follow all recipes
i have a Sheffield air fryer model number PLA1322 ,I brought it 3-9-2015 . it works well except for the chip basket it wont turn can any one tell me how to make it turn? Or how to assemble? it I would be grateful.
Hi there...you undo the little butterfly nuts on the pointy fork bits on the rotisserie shaft and slide them off. Then slide the basket onto the rotisserie shaft. You will see a little metal tab with a hole in it on the end of the basket and a dent in the rotisserie shaft. Use one of the little butterfly nuts to screw into the metal tab on the basket into the indentation on the shaft. That will hold the basket in place. Insert it into the provided rotisserie sockets and that's it. Just select the chips preset and it will turn....or stir fry or popcorn etc...whatever you're going to cook in the basket. Hope this helps you :)
Monica - the first time I used the basket, it turned. Now it doesn't. Is there a weight limit?
I found out why the basket doesn't turn. When I removed the pan to clean, I put it back the wrong way - the hole should be over the turning drive mechanism.
How long and at what temp do you cook chips?
I have never timed it. I just cook them until they are done enough to my taste, I like them crispy - so that involves checking them from time to time. I usually put the timer on for about 10 to 12 minutes to start with, and then, if they look still raw-ish, check about every 4 or 5 minutes after that, or, if they look nearly done, check them again in 2 or 3 miniutes. It probably takes about 15 minutes altogether if done at 200C, maybe a few minutes more (or less lol) . As for the temperature; from 180C to 220C. Unlike with frying in oil, I don't think that the temperature is critical to success, they will still cook satisfactorily at lower temperatures, it will merely take longer.
Then too, with any oven or cooker, individual heat settings vary, you need to familiarise yourself with your own machine.
I use frozen chips - I use the air fryer on high & cook the chips until they are a nice colour & crispy - may take 1/2 hour one way or the other but then it does depend on the machine & how you like the chips.
I have the new Sheffield air fryer. It doesn't have the stirring paddle. How does it work? Also where to find a cooking book for it. Thank you kindly. Pat
It should have a stirring arm if it is the same model as the one I bought - however you mention it is 'the new Sheffield Airfryer' so perhaps they no longer have stirring paddle? If it is definitely not in the box and the instruction pamphlet mentions that there should be one, then you should Contact the firm you bought it from. Meanwhile, while you wait to get it, just use the pan sans the stirrer and occasionally give the chips a stir with a spatula. BTW, some foods fry better without using the stirrer anyway, as they are too delicate to stir. Re. The cookbook, I don't know the answer but you could try googling for one, or, do what I do and google for 'recipes for Sheffield Airfryer', you should find quite a few. Also, in my experience, any recipes for other makes of air fryers should work and you can google for those too, plus virtually anything you can cook in a Halogen oven will work as well, and there are probably hundreds of recipes for those on the web - although you cannot fit large items such as a whole roast chicken in the airfryer as you can in an Halogen oven.
The PLA1332 has a a rotisserie fork and a rotating cage..I think.....it's the air oven I believe.
Is it possible to buy just the transparent lid from you guys? My air fryer's transparent lid accidentally cracked and is unusable now , all I need is to replace that lid to make it work functionally. For those who is still thinking about buying this product, it is fantastic and excellent, i recommend you to get it right away!!
You would have to direct that question to the firm you bought the fryer from. If it was Deals Direct, then depending on how old the fryer is, i.e. if it is still under warranty, then you could be entitled to a new lid, and they are very good to deal with I have found. They have replaced products for me in the past and did so promptly.
Has anyone have the problem of it it being way to noisey?
Not really. Though I find most kitchen small appliances are a bit noisy. However the noise is very loud or then there may be something wrong with your machine.
I tried today, only for the second time, 1st time worked fine [and I have had it since Dec 2012], to use this cooker but it doesnt work. It does go to 200 degrees and 30 mins when turned on but I can't get it to change temperature or timer or start when pushing the start button. The button that allows you to close it doesn''t seem to be working and I wonder if the whole thing doesn;t work because of this? Any suggestions?
I really don't know, although if it is not closing properly then that could well be the problem. Are you pushing the button in very firmly? If can be rather stiff and requires a strong push. I advise you to ring the suppliers, and ask them about it - describing the problems in detail. If it was Deals Direct they are extremely helpful, and, judging by how they have been with me when I have had problems with products in the past, if the problem cannot be resolved are very likely to send you a new one or refund your money..

is this appliance's capacity 9L as advertised? that seems ridiculous
Sorry Steve but I really don't know about 9L capacity. I have only used the appliance to cook chips & toasted sambos which all turn out great. I haven't cooked "wet" food in it & don't intend to
How the capacity is measured/shown/advertised applies to all these kinds of appliances I think, whoever is the manufacturer. E.g.; halogen ovens, (which do have more useable capacity than this machine has) are said to have 11L or 12L or 15L, or even 17L with a metal extension ring on. With a ring on they are not water-tight beyond the start of the ring area - though you can put in a solid item that reached nearly to the top. The 'capacity' seems to be the total inside area, even though it is not all usable capacity - it just makes it sound better.LOL
I am in Melbournes Eastern suburbs and would like to know where to buy one .
I bought mine from Deals Direct & received it in very quick time & packed well. I haven't experimented with mine a lot but found it is great for cooking frozen chips & it is so easy to clean. My deep fryer has been stowed away.
I bought mine on-line from Deals Direct. They send things promptly and if there is anything wrong they are quick to offer refunds or exchanges etc. I had a problem with the first one I got - the hard plastic of the lid cracked (Lift it up and down carefully, i.e. do not let it drop down). As they could not source a replacement lid they sent me a whole new machine, and I did not even have to return the first one. They cost about $100. If that's too much then I suggest buying a Sheffield Digital Convection oven (which is Halogen olike the chip fryer) instead - again from Deals Direct. They cook chips virtually as well as the chip fryer even though they do not stir the chips, and are more versatile because they are deeper, plus they are half the price.
How do you remove the stirring paddle after the food has been cooked to serve the food?
easy - turn it to the right slightly & lift it out. I have only used the paddle for chips & wedges
You remove the stirring paddle by twisting it clockwise and lifting it - i.e. the opposite to how you inserted it, nothing could be easier. It will be hot of course, so use a oven cloth.
Hi how much does it weigh in the box? Cheers Rachael
I'm not sure as I no longer have the box, but, if my bathroom scales are to be believed, without the box it weighs 5kg, so I imagine it would be about 6kg with the box. If you estimated 7kg max you'd be pretty safe I think.
